@ruksak
I actually think a far better solution would be a "slider" that would let you define the lowest level of loot you wanted to see. Grey - White - Blue - Yellow - Green/Orange. Obviously crafting materials would bypass this filter, but I think it would be far more utilitarian and would be much better-adaptable should they make white items useful in the future.
Well...the issue isn't limited to picking up junk loot. ANY mis-click, even on a Legendary, causes interruption during combat. When the fight is over, I'll collect my loot, certainly not during combat.
It just feels counter-intuitive to the outstanding combat D3 presents us with.

I think you misunderstand what I've suggested.
This "slider" is basically your idea but instead of on/off, you basically set the level where it kicks in.
If you set the slider to "Blue" it would mean that you never see White or Grey items. You can't click on them, you don't even see them drop. If you set it to "Green/Orange" it would mean that you never see Yellow, Blue, White, or Grey items.
I mean it's your idea, but instead of just an on/off option you are in complete control of the actual threshold. That's a good thing right?
EDIT
Hell, you could even add an on/off checkbox for Crafting Materials too so that the user has even tighter control of the pile of dogshit they see on the ground.

Are you maybe confusing ruksak with Vulmio? Unless I've misread a post, ruksak is suggesting /nopickup which is nothing like the slider you are proposing. With /nopickup, you still see all items but you can't pick up any item at all unless you hold down whatever key is mapped to it.

You could still assign an override keybind to the slider too. They don't have to be outright unseen, that was just my interpretation. Perhaps I got confused in here. Either way it's still quite applicable to allow a threshold with the system.
In fact, a keybound override would probably be quite necessary in the system.
EDIT
Since I feel that there's some kind of confusion here (perhaps largely on my part) I'm not necessarily caught up if the items are outright unclickable, or if there's a keybound override that would allow unclickable items to become clickable. I'm simply trying to advocate that, if we go this route, we expand it just a little bit to allow a lot more user control. That's all.

Understood. And your systems idea is definitely valid.
The reason I suggested the simple route of /nopickup (ala D2) was due to it's simplicity Simple to implement, simple to use. If you want your loot temporarily clickable, push ALT (or whatever bind you choose). They could literally have this done tomorrow.
Again, Blizzard has been great about implementing player-demanded ideas. Go to this link and click 'like' so that it is brought to their attention. We can make a substantial quality of life change if we turn up the heat on this issue.
I wish there was a setting so I could pick up only these 4, everything else is crap that serves no purpose other than to slow you down and just plain annoy you.
Legendaries
Tome of secrets
gems
Demonic Essence
* gold doesn't really count as a 'pick up' item, obviously I would still want this.

I had a similar thought here about this. Somehow have a setting that would allow you to pick up the items you want like "gold Radius" without having to click on them. Maybe set it to pick up say : slayers, DE, Uniques, Tomes, Etc... and only that with the "radius" factor
I played an MMO where you could lock items in your inventory so you could use a sell all feature. I found it convenient. Once you locked an item it would never sell on sell all. IE you could lock potions, gems or whatever you wanted then that items could not be accidentally sold. Another use for this is you could do it to equipped items so you could not accidentally unequip an item and sell it (SUCKS). You find ID something cool and you want to keep playing but do not want to sell, just lock it in case you forget you had something earmarked to alt or for the AH. I am surprised we do not have this feature.

Thanks for the support. Honestly, I appreciate it.
I'm a little disappointed at the fine folks over at Bnet. though there have been many posts in support of the idea, still having trouble getting enough up-votes to get the attention of the Blues.
It's frustrating trying to get momentum behind such an idea @Bnet. SOOOOO many troll posts and absolutely pointless threads created every minute, so it takes a lot of effort from the community to get good ideas/threads the proper attention. I'll keep the link in my siggy and I'll keep trying to push for this quality of life improvement until something gives way.
Thanks again for the support, Nodnarb ...or should I call you Brandon? ...
