The AH is good, it give me a feel of community, at least for me in diablo 2 there wasn't a lot of talking and trading between players but I didn't get to any high levels.
Therefore, it's much more reasonable to do things like the BoA crafting, which just makes people want to trade less. As a great example, I haven't ever looked on the AH for a shoulder-slot item since 1.0.7 went live. I haven't looked because I have no direct need to. The 1.0.7 shoulder pattern has done more to curb my need to use the AH for that slot than ANY change they could actually make to the AH.
IMO this is why there should be no more crafted items. Whilst a few is good for new players, theres no need to have a crafted item for every slot.
You say that you do not need to search for any shoulders (hence crafting close to BIS). Therefore the market for shoulders such as Vile Ward for example becomes obsolete (even though Vile Wards /with a solid roll are still best in slot).
I still can't get my head around why people think the AH is such a burden. I would like to think half my gear is BIS yet i still seek out alternative options. People just complain mostly due to the fact they either have no currency to work with or the item they seek is out of their price range.
That can't be avoided as BIS items should have a high price tag, and that will never change.
Learn to work with it, not against it. If you can't, just don't look at it and get on with the game
I would propose that items that go through the trade window become BoA as well, very important for the idea to work.
You are not listening if your answer is...just do not use the AH. The existance of the AH its current form forces Blizzards hand, because items do not leave circulation they cannot make it so better more useful items drop more frequently. I want to play a game that rewards me for playing smarter, engaging in harder content that gets me better drops at a reasonable frequency. Facerolling easy mode content superfast is boring. Staring at he AH is boring, but these are the playstyles that are the most productive uses of time to improve your character. Playing challenging content in a smart fashion should be the way you are rewarded the most. I believe the AH in its current manifestation is preventing Blizzard from doing it.
I've said this before, and still waiting for it. WHERE IS A BLUE POST SAYING THAT DROPS ARE PURELY BASED ON WHAT IS OR IS NOT ON THE AH!
Never seen a blue post, only speculation from players. Whilst there may be here say from a few ghetto players, till the writing is in blue, i choose to believe and will always believe it's purely RNG.
That is what you choose not to believe. The fact that' it's RNG, i mean, i've had 2 x Zuni ring drop in the space of 2 days (both with CC/CD one 3.5 and the one i currently use) whilst there were still abundance of these on AH (some with/without CC). Whilst since then i haven't found anything of any great worth, it's still a RNG game.
Believe what you will, if you choose to believe the AH directly impacts upon what items drop, then hope like hell that Blizzard pull the AH down for maintence for 24 hours and farm your ass off, who knows, maybe the LEGENDARIES WILL RAIN FROM THE SKY, my bet, if they do, they will still be trash drops with the odd chance of a half decent item, not the GODLY ones you seek and "deserve" for your hours of play.
^^ End rant
Silly man...no one thinks there is any correlation to drops vs what is on the AH. It stands to reason, and there have have been Blue posts about this, that if they were to make items drop with more frequency and make them more likely useful, the existance of the AH in its current state would make it so great gear would flood the marketplace trivializing content almost immediately. I have no desire to find the posts for you. However, if great items actually left circulation they could make it MUCH more likely that you found something useful to you or someone else. Rewarding playing the game not the AH.

The problem with too many slots in the current game is that there aren't any real choices. Shoulders were one of the most obvious ones pre-1.0.7. Vile Wards were the only true option. Then 1.0.7 presents craftable shoulders and, suddenly, the value of Vile Wards drops significantly. This is a symptom of a near-monopoly and a complete lack of actual market "competition" should you choose to look at it from that perspective. The minute a consumer-controlled alternative to the market-driven Vile Ward becomes available the monopolistic stranglehold that Vile Wards had on the market takes a massive hit.
The problem, still, is that top-end rares, in too many cases, aren't even close to BiS. Lacuni's, WHs, Mempos... there's absolutely zero competition there. It shouldn't require jury-rigged crafted items to compete with these things. I'm absolutely certain that they're looking into this with itemization, though, becuase it's a glaring hole in the game we're playing.

And then all items that are dropped on the ground become BoA too? I'm sorry but it's completely inelegant.
If that's the best solution we've got then... we've got problems.
Both can stay. If you do not want to use AH, do not use AH. It's not that hard..

No, both should stay but changes should be made to them.
