I had a really interesting experience with this new patch 1.0.7. Having been highly critical of it and the direction the game was going in, I have not stopped playing D3 since the patch, find out why here:
DIablo is fun again... For some of us it has always been fun. It is what it is and what you make of it. Maybe with the new patch more and more people will agree it is more fun and will come back to stay.
So now all of that crap I found that was worthless (99.5%) can be used to make into other stuff that is 99.5% likely to be worthless? Yay!
I dunno why this last patch has everyone excited, it's just the hype about getting new content I think. Once everyone realizes that this is a poor implementation of a crafting "fix" (fix the rest of the damn crafting system much?) then I think the complainers will come back out again.
Honestly, I love this game. I play regularly every day and did so before the patch. Find something fun to do, find some new friends, help out some people less fortunate than you.

People wanted gambling...did they not? Well at 130k+ a pop, these amulet (for example) are one helluva gamble. You could blow through 20 mil for notta...OR...you could roll an ammy that makes your character ascend to godliness.
I'm not gonna go into details, slice 'n' dice why I think 1.07 was such a huge step forward. I'll just suffice to say...I'm really having fun now. Well over 1k hours played and this is the most fun I've had playing D3 yet, as well, the most trouble I've had putting the god damn mouse down and quitting for the night.
The fun for me in the game is to build wealth and fortune. And that seems to get harder day by day. Ten hours of farming after patch with no sellable loot is not that inspiring to be honest.
It's been said for many many years now...Diablo games aren't for everyone. If the grind, the bad luck and the dry streaks cannot be stomached Diablo games may not be your forte.
Myself, I found a well rolled pair of Nats boots to break my dry streak yesterday. The long spells of "nothing" make the find that much better. There is no pleasure without pain.
I just assembled my 4-box team of barbarians, all rolling a comfortable 100k dps. That's the advantage of knowing 3 other people who quit playing - free accounts! I was testing it out last night and rolled through MP2 smoothly. Multi boxing is a LOT of fun for me atm.

"the complainers" never left.. /wave
I gonna keep a watchful eye on D3s Development, because afterall i am also a Fan of the Franchise.
And deep down i really hope they gonna live up to the old Standards.
I am not a Hater by default, but I know with certainty..they can do better at Blizzard...WAY better.
That would however require rudimentary changes to the game, gameplay, skillsystem, itemization etc.
Right now Blizzard is just beating around the Bush.
Patching a little here, Patching a little there...they are not touching the critical parts of the Game.
Until then i gonna play PoE, because it offers the customization and depth i want in a aRPG.
I am really enjoying picking stuff up and knowing if it sucks that crushing it is not a waste of time anymore.
I'm a packrat type of player, I like to pick things up. It may not be the most efficient way to play but I've always hated leaving loot on the floor. Having something meaningful to do with these things ratchets up my enjoyment of the game for sure, even if the craftables aren't guaranteed to be AMGSUPERDUPERAMAZING.
I made millions and millions of gold selling essences pre-1.0.3. I liked that. I'm glad that I may be able to go back to that one day soon.

Keep truckin....
It's a sick kind of dry streak I have in that case because before it has allways been dropping sellable yellow items to slowly build up my gold fortune. But last couple of months it feels things have changed so that nothing sellable drops at all apart from those big winners that drops once in a while. I would rather have those small profits all the time instead waiting long time between those big win drops.
I still like the game but I don't have the inspiring mode anymore to do a ten hour farming session to make some crazy gold.
Just to state the obvious - if the drop rates/qualities were changed so that more items were good then the market would be crap. Everyone would get good drops all the time and then your complaint would be that your good items aren't worth anything. You can have good, rare, valuable items, or plentiful, cheap, common items. I feel like everyone expects to get amazing drops all the time but that the market shouldn't change so that they can get rich.
If that's the feeling for people on MP 7-10 gear-wise, you can imagine how it feels for guys like me at MP 3-6, to which even a mediocre craft/roll can be a huge upgrade
And no, I haven't crafted anything yet. I'm waiting. Soon™
Your views reflect mine exaclty Sibcoe. These essences don't seem like a big deal at first, but we've been basically gotten a key feature back into the game that has been absent for months. Crafting fills the gap in between GG drops, it's not an automatic great drop, but it keeps you occupied, hopeful and wards off discouragement. So while you might hit a dry spell and wade through useless rares, you still at least have those essences dropping and those damn well can turn into something truly amazing.
And from what I'm hearing around the web, I think a lot of people are feeling this way. A great patch. Can't wait for more.
Also the buff to Temporal Flux is reason enough to rejoice. Seriously, check it out, it's turned the wizard into a long range pew pew beast all over again. Well, aside from your typical Archon builds, but hey, if you're tired of that, you've definitely got options now. If played right, it's like nothing can touch you.

Or do we have to watch a five minute video to find out?
lolwut?
Are you like that guy who took 9 months to beat Inferno on MP0?
If you are, then I daresay you are one of the smart ones. Seriously.

Upon release, it was a game about playing the auction house.
Now it's a game about crafting loot.
