I cant link items right now, at work. But here is a link to my toon. I got the gloves and shoulders. If the gloves had vit or ar they would probably be one of the best on the planet. http://d3up.com/b/287047
i have spent over 5 mil and countless demonic essences and firey brimstones and dint get any upgrades. i think i will put crafting a side for a long while lol. guess im just not lucky

Sorry to say but 5M is nothing at all when it comes to crafting. Think I have spent 30 M and got 3 totally ok upgrades. If I should have bought similar on ah i would had to pay atleast 500M so crafting is for sure very much worth it, but you need to expect that you have 100 rolls with nothing good, but it will come.. unless you are a top 100 player, then you will need to roll many many hundreds before getting an upgrade... most likely since the rolls are pure RNG
Very true. It's all RNG.
I consider myself a high ranked/geared player, so I didn't expect much from crafting. Except for my amulet. It needed an upgrade. It took me a ton of crafts to get one. It can still be a lot better though. Currently on my 300th+ craft. As for my bracers and shoulders, I got lucky very early. I never thought I would get any upgrades but I was soooo wrong. The potential of crafting is huge!
My intention was not to ramble on about my crafts, but to chime in and say I agree. These crafted items can be better than any item that drops in game, so the price of crafting is not really a problem. Craft as much as you can. Upgrades will come, and the feeling is...lovely

...bingo. There inlies the problem. While i dont agree there should be an automatic upgrade involved in crafting, there should be some kinda balance to make you want to do it! If you have bad luck in drops, chances are you will have bad luck in crafting... true story. The luck factor needs to be lessened / balanced

Disagree. Getting rid of the luck factor also means that the game turns into a WoW-like game in which simply the time you spent in the game determines your level of gear (there's a bit of variety in WoW as well but it's not nearly as luck-driven as in Diablo). It was always one of the great features of Diablo that even an almost newborn character (once reached the last difficulty) could find cool stuff (unique in a Baal run or at Gheed, high rune from Countess) and the time spent only roughly changed your probability (by getting more chances, but not necessarily higher chances of drops).
A perfect quinfecta amulet on the AH will cost several billions. So it's only fair that you invest some hundreds of millions in an attempt to get one. That you might never get one is just a feature that was always part of the Diablo series. I played D1 with my monk to the max, but never found a King's Staff of Haste (found a King's Sword of Haste, though). I played D2 quite a lot (though never to 99, can't stand boring grinds); never found a high-rune or one of the super rare legendaries. Luck (and the chance of having an extremely unlucky streak) was always part of Diablo. I think the odds for "decent" items at crafting are high enough now that we have fixed stats, just look around how many people were crafted items. Some people might be unlucky, just like someone can farm 1000 hours and never find an Echoing Fury. It's tough, but should stay this way.
RNG is RNG. I don't know why people can't grasp that random is random, and spamming 1x or 100x does not change the odds per craft of getting somethng good. It's a possible solution to not finding better, not the end all answer. If you don't like crafting, keep farming kills for one or use gold on AH for it. Simple as that. Given how many possible variables exist, you cannot hope to expect "perfection" every time or at any time. I've seen some good/close items, but they lack something here or there to be "best". People's OCD for "it needs to be best or it's not worth it" drives me batty. Yes, having the absolute perfect best is optimal, but this is Diablo. Absolute perfect best is NOT going to magically fall in your lap without a LOT of effort.
Also, these patterns were designed so people could be more self-sufficient, and not rely on the AH to find better. It was not designed to be "the perfect solution". You have options. If you don't like this one, don't use it, simple as that.
That said, I have a neck on my barb that got things half right and will be a pain in the arse to replace.
The hard ones are going to be the 10% CHC and 78% CHD. It lacks vit and resist all for my tastes, but it was a HUGE boost over what I had, so I had to settle for the moment. I don't have the brimstones to throw around at the moment.
Nothing spectacular, gloves rolled nice CHC and IAS but no CHD and wrong resists. Neck rolled CHC and CHD but no AS and wrong resists. Shoulders were decent only thing they lack is AR. I've crafted bracers of Vitality since I was pretty low on life and again decent rolls on resists and nice CHC.
Took me 10-20 crafts of each to get these results.
cmon people, mine can´t be the only quadfecta crafted by people on this site!
Now you know how lucky you were
Being a forum member and checking news and the official forums every now and then, I can state now that I have crafting phobia. Yes, particularly with Amulets (I'm okay with Shoulders and Bracers).
I'm afraid of crafting 100 and not getting a single useable amulet (even though my characters have shitty amulets). f.m.l.
My Wizard > sick gloves, nice shoulders / bracers =only gloves them self boosted my ass 66k dps ;P
My Demon Hunter > gloves [mediocre but nice] , shoulder / bracer was sexy roll [high dex, vita, all ress, crit etc ]
my Barb > bracers
perhaps overall 20 crafts all together.. DAMN lucky there 1st day
1100 amulets down the road and I'm still wearing the same one I crafted the first week of 1.0.7. I either get -90k dps + 1.1 protection or -90k dps and +5k hp etc.
But I'm happy with my bracers and shoulders. Bracers took me 100-150 tries and my gloves were...15-20 tries. Gotta love 90 all resist

Its not a really DECENT one but it will replace my Blackthorn one for sure.
