I am rich now! woot - need gear advice

  • #1
So I am probably the brokest player in the game and found this amulet it looked pretty decent and asked in general chat how much if it was worth anything one guy said yea about 200k gold and then another guy said nah i'd pay 500k for it. So I search for similiar items and I see they're going for like 150million gold and i'm like that can't be right they're just trying to troll people. So I decided what if I did the same thing and ignored people's advice and put in my own amount that I wanted for it. So i type in 1 million gold and then i'm like nah and type in 5 million and then say nah let's go higher for fun to 50 million. A day later? I log on and I went from 4,000 gold to 50 million gold the most ever gold I have had at one time was like 600,000 gold. I have no idea what I wanna buy now lol. Here's a pic of the amulet I sold on the AH:

lol - see the prt scr - 15-19 you had at least 1.400.000 gold - for the 3 purchases... :)

anyway nice find and good cash involved - seems pretty much for me - as it is not trifecta and 1.0.7 is arround the corner - but who knows.

have fun spending them :) and make sure you put other stuff for sale as well and do not count on everything is said on general chat :) now you know why. Verify yourself.

Ignore the rage that'll follow in this thread, as soon as people become successful in the game they devalue the successes of others, likewise the unsuccessful will portray your thread as gloating.

Back on topic the same happened to me, survived on the breadline with very mediocre gear until I finally found one good amulet, chat said ~5m, made 100m overnight. One can only wonder what people would have actually paid for it.

I'm not gloating I was just suprised that people say that what you find isn't worth anything and then i turns out it can be worth a lot. The Diablo community seems to be hush hush don't where the top end players don't wanna tell you their knowledge or help you out. And the funny thing is this is a coop (cooperative) game it's not a PVP game. I've seen competitive communitys like counter-strike and league of legends share more information on how to get better. It's a bit confusing.

grats on getting some gold.. damn i think i sold similar for like 1.5 M buyout the other day.. :)
    Well that can happen.

To make you happy i can promise you 50M will just get you 1 rather good item or 3-4 semi good items :) so no worries there

yay, now you can ACTUALLY START PLAYING DIABLO!! That's enough money to start flipping and make enough money to buy good items!

Yeah, I find in-game chat is always a bunch of a holes. Every single last "WTS" post I've ever responded to in chat was someone trying to sell their item for way more than the AH similar items were going for... and they get upset when you call them out on it!! If you're ever looking for an honest evaluation of what it's worth you can post here. Sometimes they don't get responses, but when you do you will get better results than in game chat.

    Grats!

The same is happening for me right now on an Echoing Fury (1200 DPS, str, socket... no life steal or crit). Since it had no other stats besides primary, socket and high DPS, I figured it'd go for like 10M or something, so I set it as 2M starting bid... and trolled with 500M buyout.

Before I went to sleep last night, it was on a 170M bid with 8 hours remaining. You never know.

Gratz! That was a very good item.
Some people will always try to troll or diminish your success, better to check the prices all time on your own.

This is a perfect example why without an auction house many casual players get screwed. And Jaetch's example shows that this can even happen to extremely experienced players. So, the AH is not just bad, as the recent AH bashing suggests...

But yes, this thread sheds the light on a sad truth. Without this first major sell, it's not the same game. Some players have to wait a long time before finding this item that will make them.

But let's not dwell on the game flaws on this moment. Let's rejoice for our friend !

Because he's happy and wanted to share his find?

Though many may scoff at the 50mil figure, it was big for him and I'm happy for him. I prefer these threads over the "Watch my stream freez gib aways".

Holy crap, maka, I haven't used the AH for quite a while and really don't like it either. But I try to live with it. After so much hate for the AH in recent days I just wanted to point out that there may be *one* potential benefit in it. I'm the last person in the world to lead a crusade that glorifies the AH. In fact, I'm recently starting to think that a non-AH mode might be a good idea; even though I doubt it will ever come, I would certainly join such a mode. But not every problem is always plain white or black.

Maka made me lol at work. Got me in trouble.

Well, not really trouble, but it was a fun moment.

[tinfoilhat]Maybe all the recent AH hate correlates with the sudden increase in dupes and "traffic" that seems to be plaguing the AH?[/tinfoilhat]

@Bagstone and Jaetch: hahaha, sorry guys, it was just a joke, no actual offence was intended. I had a pretty good laugh myself making that post, I though the picture was quite funny :Thumbs Up:

Grats, don't mind the trolls :-) (be glad you didn't post this on the battle.net forums)

I wonder. When you guys ask in trade for a value? What do you then expect?

Why is it, you dont compare to AH in the first place? Your going to do it anyways, when you get 200k, 500k answers. Considering your smart enough to not believe what trade says. Why ask in the first place???

The game would be so much better, if we didnt have to see the constant (what is this worth?, How much can i get for this?) over and over and over. : ))))))
