Working with adobe and/or java is like pushing a paper clip against a building and expecting it to move...
We're aware that people use rollbacks to create duplicates. I blame the players.
The point is that people don't want to believe that always-on has succeeded in its goal of stopping piracy and duping, because that would mean that Blizzard made a tough business decision rather just a flat-out evil one. I remember numerous gaming pundits (and legions of fourm posters) declaring that both would be rampant soon after release, but it's now got to the stage where straws must be grasped.
Disclaimer: I find always-on to be a huge PITA, as my internet connection is flaky (ISP blames Telco, Telco blames ISP, screw 'em both)... but it can't be denied that regardless of whether or not it was a good design decision, it's been a hell of a good business decision. Which unforunately means we'll be seeing always-on AAA titles more and more. Dammit.

My experience with Diablo 2 was as follows, and may help others to gain some perspective as to another bonus of online-only.
I played D2 for over 3 years before I got the internet. I loved it, just loved it. In late 2004, I finally decided to get an internet connection (I was a late bloomer, thought the internet was fucking stupid due to the pains of dial-up/pop-up windows/viruses etc).
One of the first things I did after getting my slow ass online was to try Diablo 2 online.
Holy fuck my ass and call me Shirley........WOW.....!!!!
I was shocked, fucking taken aback profoundly. After a week or so online, I thought to myself "I've played this game for almost 4 years and I had no idea how awesome it could be". All those wasted years.
Point being, a game of this sort is only capable of reaching it's potential as an online game. Playing with others, trading, learning.
Echoing Fury x2 in gold AH
Same Echoing Fury in RMAH
Also two pairs of duped Tal Rasha's Allegiance in gold AH:
