The truth about monster power, just a guy telling the truth

I don't agree with the OP that clearing speed beats all. I often log drops/hour and legendaries/hour for my runs, and even though MP5 takes longer than MP0, I get like 3-4x more rare drops and legendaries per hour.

    MP0 magic find cap: 375 (with NV5)
    MP5 magic find cap: 500 (with NV5)

Even if you have the exact same clearing speed (unlikely, but let's give you the benefit of the doubt), mathematics say it's virtually impossible to get 3-4x more legendaries on MP5. You may have had a very lucky sample, but in the long run your "3-4x more" claim is an exaggeration. If it was true, by the way, there wouldn't be any need to fix rewards at higher MP levels.

one thing to also consider, not everyone is at 300/300 base mf. id say 50% of pple have 150 mf. 150+75 = 225 mf. 150+75+125 = 350. 1.5% more drops per kill not including the extra drop. food for thought :)

I have been running mp2 with my barb.. i have 145k dps unbuffed so its been going superfast. But... its really boring to play that way when there is no challenge. Tho i have found lots of legendarys but they are all crap. Now i decided to start running mp5-6 and i find it much more fun way to play the game. Maybe i still will do mp2 runs when i want to farm xp. There should be some kind of rewarding thing to run higher mp.

I was thinking that Blizz could make some new weapons in the game.. Unique ones that only drop in higher monster levels and they all would be awesome good! But they could have superlow drop chance and they would be bound to account. And meaning they are unique, they would be one of a kind items. And... i was also thinking that if you are running a barb, you would only find barb gear etc. What do you guys think of this? I think it would be a nice extra reward to farm higher mp.. :)

    Peace to all!

No, it's not an exaggeration :) It's more than that actually, but lets just round things down. People, including you, usually don't take into account (or underestimate) Bonus Item (BI) chance. As I said in some other thread, BI chance is in great synergy with MF. From MP1 and up, every time something drops from a white mob (excluding Health Globes BUT including gold), there's a BI roll. If successful, the BI will be wearable gear, and standard MF tests are rolled if it's legendary or n-affix rare or magic. Remember that legendary drop chance from white monsters is doubled in 1.05. That applies to BIs too. I can't give you exact chances, only my logs, and those show a clear and significant increase in drops from MP3 and up. I don't log every run, but when I measure my performance I will log 3-4 consecutive runs. I have logs since July.

People also underestimate the scale of stats in Diablo III. Yes, very good gear (north of billion in gold) is required to farm higher MPs effectively, but it's not unreachable at all. AH prices are ridiculously low for everything not BIS. With a little creativity in character building, and lot of AH sniping everyone will find good enough gear. Some dedication will be required of course, there's no such thing as free lunch.

Edit: forgot to add, there's one more thing about white monsters that's usually omitted. Namely, drop chance is not equal for every monster, it depends on monster type. Stronger monsters with higher base HP will usually have higher chance to drop something and experience for killing them is also increased. Keep Depths 2 and Field of Slaughter have large packs of strong monsters. That's why Alkaizer XP runs are so effective but that also means that with lots of BIs dropping, most legendaries from white monsters will drop there. So on higher MPs its smarter to focus on these zones (while on low MPs elite hunting is still more effective).

If you still can have fun playing Diablo 3, and this isn't just another job for you, please disregard what I said. I didn't know people could enjoy this game.

Anyone that considers this a job is a fucking loser. Not aimed at anyone specifically....just "a guy telling the truth".

This thread, the OP, symbolize everything that is wrong with Diablo players in the modern age.

LOL, someone is a little frustrated. I make more playing Diablo 3 than any normal job I could get while going to college, and I make it from the comfort of my home, and I chose my hours. Calling someone a loser because they are capitalizing on a game blizzard intended to be capitalized is a little brazen and ignorant.

I bet you live in poor health.

On the other hand, I get to work with -real- people, I have everyday bump-ins with hot girls, and it's all out there. And I still manage to make enough money to get around, without hanging around behind my computer all day.

Come to think of it.. I'm off to the beach! :) Enjoy D3 guys ;D

You remind me of that over tanned douche meme with his girlfriend. Too bad i cant find it lol

The fact they have time to come onto Diablo 3 forums to talk about how they have lives is a good hint into how they actually live. BTW IRL im an FBI agent alien with lazer beam eyes. (that's my attempt at pointing out that anyone can say anything on the internet, it doesn't make it true)

Ofcourse, being able to use the internet in my short moments of free time says everything about me ;)

Actually I weigh in over 350 pounds, have no money, watch girlmovies and am addicted to furry pron.

Hating yourself is no reason to verbally (in a matter of words) attack others, it just makes you look immature, and everyone stops taking you seriously.

Whoa....settle down there cowboy. A little defensive, aren't we?

    What response is an ignorant comment like this supposed to illicit;

If you still can have fun playing Diablo 3, and this isn't just another job for you, please disregard what I said. I didn't know people could enjoy this game.

You're on a Diablo fansite, packed full of people that obviously DO enjoy playing this game. Yet I'm the one espousing ignorance, aye?

You are a botter, no? Lie to me some more, please. Tell me of your royalties and higher education, the playboy lifestyle that is begotten from gaming for a living. Claim to me that your supposed income is gleamed from legitimate playing.

My advice; If you have some commentary about efficiency and maximizing intake etc etc....do so without so overtly belittling this community.

    Wait...hold on....huh?

So....you're taking a shot at him for posting on a gaming forum And claiming to have an active life (insinuating that he's a loser with too much time on his hands) yet you claim to make a living playing video games?

    How is what he said any different then the earlier comments you made ;

I make more playing Diablo 3 than any normal job

    .....while going to college

I make it from the comfort of my home

Killing 22,000 elites with a butchers sickle is enough to put anyone on tilt, I don't blame you. Also, I think the only one that felt belittled was you, and I'm getting the feeling you feel belittled a lot. Though I can't admit to having read all of your retorts. The whole "people no longer taking you seriously" part is still in effect.

LOL....did you just take a shot at the off-hand weapon I use in D3 to insult me personally? Really? Half my gear is self-found, I do not RMAH and I still eek out 92k unbuffed with a monk. I also do not play EZ mode like you do.

Look....my point was that you should probably not make ignorant comments like "I didn't know people could enjoy this game" here. Especially when it's obvious that you do, in fact, know that people enjoy this game. Who the fuck you think is buying your shit? Hmmmmmm?

It's pretty clear to me that your intent is to be insulting by the creation of this thread. You are also espousing an elitist attitude, strange for a probable botter. If people want to dig on some extra scratch by selling items, subsidizing their income in that manner, that's all fine and good. But to refer to this game as a "job"....it just hits the ear wrong, or rather the eye, as I'm reading this drivel.

I don't get it, brother. The guy claims to not enjoy the game yet also indicates he plays the game to such a capacity it qualifies as a job. Something smells of fish.

But yes....do as you will so long as you achieve your goal of having fun. D3 has a ways to go, so much untapped potential here. Let us hope it is met.
