I hope its more of a challenge than a must like its a must to play in inferno over hell or playing in act 3 over act 1.
Do anyone know how much gold find and magic find you get from playing in a higher monster level game ? I know that monster level 10 have 10x more health and their dmg is increased by 2-4x, wich sounds really challenging and fun.
but if loot is 10x better, its gonna be inferno in the first week of d3 over again, people will use overpowered builds, some classes will just have a big advantage over others, loh and all resist items will be mandatory, etc.. You'll have more mf so more 6 attribute items, more rares and ofc, more legendaries, but will it worth it ?
Do people with 500m+ characters will have a big advantage on everyone else like demon hunters used to have in the first weeks of d3, if mf is increased by like 300% + 375% base, that is 675%, who knows how gfg the drops will be.
I think its a good idea but at the same time, im a bit worried and I didnt have the time to test it myself on the PTR yet because 1. I sold my barb because of the incoming patch and my fear of getting nerfed, I did right, like I did right in every patch lol, the d3 economy is too unstable to have a 700$ character and 2. PTR is down for the weekend. Hopefully it will just be a challenge for a different gameplay and not a gold fountain for rich people while poor people starve and see everything they find worth much less because of the inflation.
people are saying its 1.5x health per level, exponential.
so ask yourself, would you sacrifice 33% of your dps and a chunk of your effective health for 25% magic find?
hell no.
blizzard will probably nerf monster power before release.
So its 25% magic find per power level ? so 250% total + 375% (not that hard to get 300mf and great dps with a decent paragon level) still 625% mf, the only way it can worth it, is if you can run like 2-3x slower while in a monster level 10 game, wich make sense because I seriously doubt anyone can run that fast in a game where monster have this much health and strength, even if you're uber geared. Hopefully, if they nerf monster power, they will nerf the mf it give as well.
Why should they nerf it? Who cares if power 10 is worth it. Maybe with super high end gear. I'll be happy if I can sit anywhere between 3 and 5 and farm efficiently, without run speed being the limiting factor. Then everytime I get a gear upgrade, I can see if I can move to the next level, and instead of just farming faster, I farm harder mobs for better (?) rewards.
Something I really like about monster levels, is that run speed, just speed efficiency overall, wont be a must, slow and stronger heroes will be able to farm in a higher monster level difficulty and be as efficient as a 24%speed tornado barb would be. I agree that you should get better rewards, but it should be more of a personal challenge for fun, than another ''must be efficient'' gameplay.
Worth it? Rather easy to answer: if you can double your MF via powerlevel but you end up needing 3-times the time it won't be useful for you, similar to swapping from act 1 to 2 or 3. If you need 4-5 minutes per champion pack in act 3, you might be better off staying in lower acts.
Only thinkable exception: they also greatly increases the xp gains. Else just stay in a difficulty you can beat flawlessly all the time (death -> corpse runs are a huge time sink and motivation killer).
True, thats why I was asking how much magic find higher monster levels add exactly but if its 25%, it should be alright. The bonus exp gained is only for character level 1-59 (so, no paragon) and im totally okay with powerleveling.
Remember, monster power was originally added to appease those who find the game too easy or too hard. The people who were upset at the nerfs can go have fun in MP 10. Sure, the MF is higher, but most players won't want to bother with challenge or simply won't have the gear to farm the place efficiently, which is probably more likely.
It's also something nice to shoot for. If you can ever farm MP10 with any sort of speed, you'll be rich! I mean, 600+ MF... lol, what the heck.
Why, oh why, did they have Monster Power only add Magic Find!?
Nobody has been complaining that there isn't enough rare garbage floating around - everybody complains at the RNG system being too "R". What are they thinking?
hmmm doesn't seem worth it I hope they make some changes
It seems like the best (most efficient) thing to do is to find a lower power level where you can still 1-2 shot trash and kill elites in a few seconds and just continue to faceroll
Don't use Kripp as a judge for how anyone with decent gear will handle monster power 10. His gear is terrible compared to many of us who haven't quit the game like 4 times. It won't be that bad for anyone who actually deserves to be in lvl 10. I still consider my gear pretty bad but I'll be spinning around that mob with 300k dps not counting my 30% stone of jordan.
Affixes on items will now roll their level based on the level of the monster killed (rather than the item’s level)
This is from patch notes. If I understand this and new "monster level" mechanic correctly, then it will definitely be worth it to go higher levels, since it's not just +250% MF that will affect number of rares/legendaries but also values of properties rolled should be higher.
M10 does not increase monster level to affect affix, as per their interview with pc gamer. Monsters are still lvl 63 in act 3. It only means that act 3 item of lvl 58-63 will only roll affix from previous lvl 63 items, loot from act 2 of ilvl 58-62 will all roll ilvl 62 previous affix and act 1 58-61 to ilvl 61 affix, not changing their loot. So all you get is indeed magic find as it currently stands for m10. Running low monster level will net you the same affix as M10, just no magic and gold find bonuses.
However im not against that. They want MLVL to be a choice, not a requirement. If it gave the best loot, it would be a requirement to run it. Now its actually a challenge thing, if you can run it at a decent speed you win a little bit of magic find. Simular to running act 3 instead of act 2 when you have the gear. It also mean that pretty much any build can effectivly farm the best gear very quickly. A poorer build can simply farm M1 and quickly destroy it like its hell difficulty steamrolling (their intent exactly for it from their pcgamer interview.)
Effectively Monster level as is now is exactly like D2 version. LVL 1 pure faceroll any build can do it, max level more hp and harder, drops more loot, not better loot.

This is true. Blizzard's fundamental change to how loot drops are handled in this upcoming patch will have more to do with the quality of loot found than the Mlvl addition. Having nothing below ilvl58 in Inferno will be incredible as far as rolling things that people actually want. This will drop auction house prices precipitously within a week or two of release because all that trash you picked up and threw away will be much more likely to be an upgrade for a new level 60 character somewhere

I doubt it's true. If this is the case then then ilvl63 items in Act1 will roll lvl61 affixes? And Act2 ilvl63 items will roll lvl62 affixes?
It was true when i logged on the ptr and killed an elite in act 1 with m10. Its also stated in their interview, they arent increasing monster lvl with M10. Thats one of the changes they want to adress for act 1 and 2 to make monster lvl 63 at a certain mlvl, so that loot are identical. Exemple M2 for act 1 = lvl 63. After that point, monsters stay lvl 63.
If Mlvl affected item affix it would be a requirement to run it at max. This is the opposite of their intent from every single interview and it was true while tested for the brief period the ptr was online. It would mean running low level mlvl would reward nothing of value, ever.
I think its a good idea but at the same time, im a bit worried and I didnt have the time to test it myself on the PTR yet because 1. so your not really theory crafting and giving opinions, ur just trolling.
If you sell ur character and not excited about the game, why bother worrying about a system your gonna rage and quit again.
Also why pay for your character when you can just enjoy the game through farming, they are almost done through the game already.
