ive spent over 250M on MF gear, and i don't care....
sell a couple pieces so you sit at 300MF with NV, and be happy.
you realize reaching 100 paragon is going to take months and months if not a year+, right?
your MF is going to be extremely useful on your way there, as you'll be getting phat lewt the guys without MF will not be receiving.
i know when i first read it i was slightly bummed, but it's really not a huge deal, trust me. it's still good that you have MF gear, i'm sure having it will more than pay for the cost of not having it on your way to 100 paragon.
and slowly as you level week by week you can sell off a piece. MF gear is far from useless, it may drop a smidge in value, but it won't drop much.
the sky is not falling old chap, don't worry about it.
You sir won the internets.
I too felt a little bit abashed by the news. My barb runs around with 366% MF. No swapping.
But then i thought, right now i get usually one two or even three legendarys per run.
So in the end i will be able to swap my MF gear out along the way just as they intended in their design and have all the same rewards.
The brightside being that until then I got a nice edge and will be getting all these new cool items before other people and most likely wil be able to make some money selling the ones i dont need.
mf is still useful, you will plenty of legendaries before you get paragon level to negate hvaing mf gear trust me. you will most likely never reach max level paragon anyways.
hes too blind to realise this i still dont see what hes bitching about hes geting gold find ontop of it.....so untill he links his set with 300%MF and GF hes just some QQer who wants to be a special snow flake....not because he nearned his money he prolly got a lucky drop and sold it for a shit ton
Irony of calling me blind when I linked to my gear/profile in the first post is palatable.
IT IS very possible to have good (not perfect) MF numbers while still putting out good DPS. It costs a bundle more, or probably around 5-10x as much as similar gear without MF, but it is possible. I've only been playing a month and I have 70k DPS (w/o sharp) on 215% base MF on a balanced (400 all resists and 35k life) DH. Yes, it's not anywhere near those glass cannon 125k+ DPS DH but then again they have much more gold/time invested than I do.
But this new Paragon system just gives even more incentives to macro gear swap. Here's the incentives for each side
To gear swap:
Faster killing of both white and rare mobs for faster Paragon experience leveling
Full 300% base MF for elites/treasure goblins for maximum loot.
To have MF on questing gear:
4x more magic items will drop from white mobs. Which in reality will probably be only 1-4 extra rares per hour over 0% MF. Fairly easily offset by faster killing speed.
I personally find it silly that in order to optimize your gameplay Blizzard gives these kind of incentives to skirt the User Agreement while NOT making a stand whether or not they deem it okay to use 3rd party macros. Much of the argument for one side or the other is purely one side not wanting to violate the TOS and not so much macro use. The funny thing is if Blizzard came out and banned everyone that used gear swap macros they'd probably ban 30% of the player base and kill the game completely so in truth it's highly doubtful they will. Regardless though, I built a charachter around MF and now I'm just finding that while I was probably more efficient than most of the 0% MF characters before 1.04 I'm now in a big hole going forward as I will not be able to level my Paragon levels anywhere near as quickly as those with only questing stats.

He said "until you link your set with 300% MF." Your set is well below 300%, thus his statement is true. We get it you can switch to a terrible weapon and use your follower to get an extra 7% over the cap...big woop.

yea not to mention the FREEEEE gold find you get with the paragon levels.....if soem one was at 300%+MF AND GF....id see theyre side but this guy isnt hes just leaching off groups to buff his dps and allr esist to seem useful
You've spent a load on gear so you can farm, and you're upset because by the time you've farmed through 100 more levels you won't want to be wearing your current gear, yeah?
So... what are you farming for?
Put another way, if after 100 more levels of farming you end up still in the same gear you're wearing now, wouldn't you be pretty pissed off?
dumb argument, the only reason ive farmed for over a month is to sell on RMAH.
there is no point once you're clearing act 3+ with ease, to continue improving gear, ESPECIALLY with stat points from paragon levels now
With swapping only my weapon I already go over 400% with my templar and valor because I worked my arse off to get this gear that capable of farming end game content.
I sold all my high end DPS gear to put together this act 3/4 MF farming set and now your telling me that even with zero paragon level im about to lose MF?!?!?
I dont get how this stops gear swapping, i dont swap gear, i farm act 3 with 350+% MF because I worked my arse of for 500 hours in game and probably another 200 hours on the Auction house selling and trading gear.
So blizzard, damn....i actually wanna cry coz I invested so much of my time into making the perfect MF act 3/4 farming set and you go and ruin it as im already at the cap and gain nothing from your paragon system.
Solution: Remove the cap, let us go to 700% MF if we want to. Why stop your loyal/dedicated and possibly a little hardcore fans from playing the game at the 'level' that they want to?
Stop complaining
Your high value 'DPS Set' is going to drop in value as well since there will be item inflation with the new patch (x4 drop rate, legendaries being better than rares, 61/62 weapons being buffed, 63 weapons (2h etc) having new affixes roll, new legendaries making old ones obsolete..)
The only 'sure thing' in Diablo is probably gold
Also the MF cap is a good thing for reasons bliz has listed. Who the hell wants to stack MF endlessly? I wish they'd cap other things like resist as well
I farm act 3 and 4 in MF gear, I run at 282%(zero valor/no buffs) without swapping with my templar and 253% without.
you will have to go to plvl 7 to make your mf start becoming useless... and with out youre templar you need to get to plvl 16. youll get some use out of them.

You're furious that blizzard changed the mf system because they didn't like the mechanics and you're pissed that they didn't double your potential mf cap?
The point of the change was to, as you progress through paragon, reduce the desire to gear swap. Which was explicitly stated as their intent....but you're mad that they didn't implement a system that not only continues to promote gear swap...but ALSO adds the burden of NEEDING to max paragon to keep up with the top end MF?
By 100 Paragon, you've opened up 13 affixes and a gem slot to stats that make you kill faster while still maintaining roughly the absolute max MF you could currently have.....and you're UNHAPPY with this change?!
My palm just went through my face and hurt my brain.
Why don't you just pretend the paragon system isn't there? You can keep swapping your precious gear like now, but somehow you'll get more gold and slightly more magic find. Nothing else will change but your perception of the value of your gear. It still does the exact same it did before, now you just all of sudden believe your pixels are worth less because of this.
I'm confused whether the OP thought that the gear he currently has, with DPS + MF, was basically going to be his endgame set for all time, even though the game has only been out a few months. If the goal is to keep playing this game for years and years, I'm not sure I would be heartbroken to find out I still have a goal to work towards.
Under the old system, regardless of your class, build, or playstyle, MF was the one stat that every single player was obligated to maximize, no matter what they decided to do with their other stats. I can see why Blizz wasn't thrilled with that sort of design.
If you have a full set of gear with great DPS and MF, you were way way ahead of the game, and you are still way way ahead of the game. I guess the idea is that in a couple months everyone will be at paragon level 100 and all that MF will be completely useless. I don't think that's actually how it's going to be.

wrong math dude, wrong
3 per lvl dude
That is the math he did. To get the 18% and hit the cap is 6 levels, so 7 levels before it is a problem. And to get the 47 points without Templar it is 15.66666 levels, so 16 is when you actually "passed" the cap and now need to think about swapping equipment.
OT: I think having MF become a base stat as you level is great. Will not need to carry any swapping pieces, more drops from white mobs, etc, can only be helpful to the average player.

thats your world ranking for mf on diablo progress...theres 1,999 more people higher then you...i dont hear them complaining

2. if you had bought MF gear and not in addition to your dps gear, then you're an idiot
end game is not farming
i hope
