I think it was more that Dave's interview, while somewhat critical, was polite and diplomatic (and really didn't say anything the community hasn't said in a much more impolite manner). Jay Wilson saying "Fuck that loser" and a bunch of Blizzard employees liking the comment seems pretty immature. I have to think they either didn't know people could see their comments, or are just that arrogant. Either way, it reflects poorly on the company, as I imagine it's going to garner some negative press
It never ceases to amaze me how many presumably intelligent people seem to have the delusional belief that private conversations can be had on Facebook or Twitter.
I don;t know what to say. It's quite appaling for JW to say that, tbh.
Also, this isn't fake. JW's account has been active since 2007. Has a bunch of pictures from across the years, and has many of him. He also commented on another developers (Chris Haga) wall, which you can do only if you are friends with them.
Wow kind of surprised he deleted it, at this point it's too late for that. Backlash is the official forums are basically on a feeding frenzy (considering he was massively unpopular already), the MF blog is going to be overshadowed by people flaming him, and if actual news sites pick up and report on it there will be a real shitstorm. Gotta love social media nowadays. Almost feel bad for Jay, I liked Dawn of War, and feel he is kind of personally scapegoated for the game's state, but he did bring this upon himself
Yeah...not so much. Also, regarding the comment made that it was the fastest selling PC title, I'm pretty sure I could've pressed dog shit into a circle and put that in a case labelled "Diablo 3" and it would've sold. Delusional
My point was it wouldn't have mattered who was in charge, the game would've sold those numbers because of the previous titles. I have no interest in arguing how professional he is, I don't know the man, all I know of him is his reputation (which this contributes to). Reached beyond all success compared to other companies? Uhh...he is an employee at a video game company, I think you might want to rethink that statement. We all tried or bought the game? I fail to see the irony or relevance to the OP, which has little to do with the game itself, and is more of a war of words between two developers of the Diablo franchise, past and present.
The original interview was pretty tame and polite, not sure what provoked such angry response, everything he said was already stated a million times by fans.
They basically went to war with the Diablo franchise. They took it down like Nazis marching into Poland, and have the nerve to be upset when they're called out on it by fans, the original Diablo devs, and even the gaming press.
The the comment is gone, which may look suspicious until you think about it. You can literally make another account, name it Jay Wilson and have the exact same picture and say what you want. Also if you notice in the likes, a lot of them are liked by "Jay Wilson Eats Toomuch" Which was probably the troll that had his name as Jay Wilson.
It's pretty common. Usually I see it in the form of...
Person A: I love puppies
Person B: ^ is a moron
Person C: ^ Is a dumbass
Then person B removes his comment. and it looks like person C just called person A a dumbass. In any event I highly doubt it's true, and not "oh well you're a moderator you have to say that." No. I could say yeah he's a diick and jump the bandwagon but it seems pretty clear to me someone was trolling, and it was successful.
Also notice how "Jay Wilson Eats TooMuch" has no friends, is a new account, and is now trying to "point out what happened" after he liked the comment "Jay Wilson" supposedly left. So he was so against what was said he liked the comments? Oh he also happened to change his name from "Jay Wilson".
Edit: The amount of people willing to just believe this without looking more is astonishing. You think Jay would actually post something like that? He'd be fired almost immediately.
Wow wrong again. My point was that the game sold based on the previous titles, and that initially at least, it didnt matter what was inside the case, people would have bought it. To say I said that D3 = dog shit was totally not what I intended or the correct interpretation. Irregardless, you're right, I don't know the weight of his involvement in developing the game, nor did my OP have anything to do with the game itself or it's development. Again, it had to do with his comments regarding an interview that one of the original designers of Diablo gave. Why you are making it more than that, I have no idea
Hey jay Wilson go fuck yourself "loser" trying to delete your comment!! LOL you wish you were anything as brilliant as David Brevik and you ruined the hell out of the diablo series way to go ass hat.
I also never thought that Jay Wilson would do that big a mistake..
Brevik was asked those questions and replied in a honest (but still very diplomatic) fashion. You also can clearly see his still emotionally attached to his original creation back with BN. Its not just love and peace in the gaming industry after all.
They messed up D3 and are now being criticized for it. They (including Jay Wilson) will have to deal with that.

That's no fun to believe. We like our little fantasy land and you gotta come in here and ruin it with your slick city boy facts and "common sense".

Christ, it's NOT a fake! Before he deleted the comment, I clicked on his name and it took me to http://www.facebook.com/Angerbot I know it seems implausible, but he really did post it. Why would it be deleted if it were a troll?? That makes no logical sense! On the contrary, the troll would keep it there to enflame his intended targets.
It even has the same FB picture, is FRIENDS with Chris Haga, has a bunch of other developers on the post. Unless you are telling me those are ALL fakes made years ago just so an occasion like this can arise. Occam's Razor suggest the simplest explanation is often the correct one. In this case, this is the real deal.
I dont see anything wrong with Jay's comment. Pure and simple. Obviously not the most diplomatic comment, however, it was made in a private discussion on a controversial topic, i.e. an interview bad mouthing game he helped to develop.
i'm tired.
Edit 2; Damnit daemaro, ruining all my fun with your logic.
I also clicked on the name and it took me to the profile you posted as the legit one, it was not fake. Also, you can't post unless you're his friend, so I highly doubt that Chris was fooled all of a sudden just in time to friend a fake profile that then commented on the interview. "JayWilsonEatsTooMuch" just shared the comment, he didn't actually post a response or participate in the discussion, because he can't as he's not one of Chris's friends. In the end, I hope this just disappears and the MF blog comes tomorrow and patch Tuesday. Then nobody will give a shit

At least you chose a good picture to go with your account, and your first post.

Just saying this incase they delete that post, or if Chris Haga makes his Facebook private.
I wonder what the backlash of his actions will be.
EDIT: And YEP, Jay Wilson just deleted his comment. What a coward!
EDIT 2: Here's a link to the actual conversation.
