I changed wicked wind to storm chaser, and explosive blast for spectral blades (deep cuts). And together with arcane dynamo, it puts out insane dmg. Even if the tornado's are more random, I like it more than the standard wicked wind build.
It's a very fun build, plenty of variations as well.

Isn't this build the one ProzaicMuze is using? I recall seeing something similar on his stream the other day.
edit: forgot the quote. Didn't mean the op's build.
This does not make me want to play my wizard, or the game any more. The game is still boring.
Insightful, comprehensive, and all-around informative post right here. Thanks!
In other news, I'll have to check this out when I get home. Been playing my DH and Barbarian a lot, and really wanted to play some melee wizard variations (because they just have such a unique feel from anything else so far). Thanks! (for real)
I do run with a shield, sitting at 18.5k DPS. I may try Wicked Wind in place of Spectral Blades, cause it does seem to be a little more area-covering, though I'd lose alot of overall damage from Arcane Dynamo (My Meteors go from 55-70k crits up to 110-135k crits with the Dynamo up). Or maybe try Wicked Wind in place of the Meteor. I dunno. But it does look useful.
I have cleared up to Act 3, but found the enemies just beating my face in mercilessly, and my gear SHOULD allow for me to run it with little issue (though my Crit is only a 15.5% chance).
Probably, I certainly didn't make it up myself. Far to lazy to come up with effective builds

Got the same problem myself, getting more crit and arcane power on crit helps a lot.
This is a very old build which I've been using since I started a 'melee wizard build' been using this right after they patched out the Force Armor 'god mode'. I wonder why this build just recently became popular, I resorted to this build since I cannot face melt things like what chang does but he did switch to this build about 2 weeks ago.

What is dead may never die, but rises again harder and stronger.
It's a very fun build, plenty of variations as well.
