Last night, playing public.. start chatting with a player about MF gear. We start chatting about trading eachothers items instead of trying to sell via AH. So we agree to swap my set piece helm for his amulet 30% MF.
I drop the helm, he picks it up. He drops the amulet and it dissapears. We then realise there is another player standing right next to us who has obviously picked up the amulet. We beg and plead for him to drop it.. he does not. Disconnects from game with amulet.
Yes, I know I am to blame, I should have used TRADE.
Anything I can do? report player? I dunno.. obviously the @ssh0le isnt replying to PM nor is he acccepting friend request..
I have the thiefs battletag and #number.. I also have the same details of the person I was trading with who can vouch for the story.
Sucks having to deal with theives like this ingame.. really sucks!
That's the unfortunate thing about playing public. You could maybe try reporting him to Blizzard, but I doubt they'll do much. You chose to drop the item and the 'thief' was then able to pick the item up through legitimate in-game methods, so technically speaking no thievery took place.
You're certainly not to blame (the victim never is, you didn't ask to be stolen from). It's a lesson learned, at the very least. Sorry that it happened to you.
Yeah, they probably won't do anything, once you drop something on the ground it's pretty much fair game for anyone, worth a shot though so you know for sure.
it was unfortunate, but stuff like that happens when you shut down your brain
Yep agreed, it was 2AM.. no brain functions at that time of night, only god knows why I bother with d3
Thanks all for your comments.. oh well, you live and you learn.. guess I'll have to farm for about 20,000 hours to save enough gold to pay the ridiculous AH prices to up my MF
Dropping items on the ground is stupid. Dropping items on the ground, while a 3rd person is standing next to you, is well, take a guess.
lol, it wasnt even obvious he was there.. I had my chest window and my inventory gear window open.. didnt even take notice of the background and my surroundings.. the fact that he was standing there right next to the chest and NOT participating in our conversation tells me he was waiting for us to make a mistake.. he instantly picked it up. Innocent expensive mistake.. GO ME!
