Well it finally happened, one of the biggest contributors to Diablo 3 coverage just quit playing the game... Idk bout you guys but he seriously got me hyped up over the last year and I honestly can't think of another professionally done podcast dedicated to D3.
He makes a point about endgame, especially when you consider that 1) D3's free-to-play model is structured around the RMAH and 2) once you buy gear off it, what's left to do with that gear? I haven't used it but I beat Inferno a few weeks ago and really don't see a point to continue playing. Idk, what do you guys think about this whole thing and the current state of endgame?
It sounds like he just got burnt out. It happens when you go so hard so fast.
I admit my play has slowed a lot lately too but then again that happened a lot in D2 for me as well. Play hard for a few weeks, take a break a month or so, go play again, back and forth.
You don't need Force to tell you what's wrong with the game. It's enough to play for 2 / 3 days to realize it yourself.
People often compare D2 & D3 and that's totally wrong.
This is 21th century and it's been over a decade since D2 was popular. For 10 years, games moved to a higher level where constant grinding and gear check aren't fun anymore. People are seeking for challenge that will occupy them for a long period, sadly, D3 is not one of those.
People who are still playing Diablo 3 are mostly lying themselves. Some are pretending that they are having fun and the other half is playing to earn money on RMAH (such is me).
Other then making real money on this game, I don't really see any other reason playing it.
I have over 500 hours played, I have made a lot of RMAH money but never ever got a single upgrade for myself. RNG or not, doesn't really matter anymore, that's a sad fact.

I haven't used the RMAH at all, but i'm still having fun on alts. I think I would be enjoying my main more too, but the WD class at the moment is quite hamstrung by a lack of capable builds. Granted, i've taken the game up later than most and enjoy it at a slower pace.
Force is a good guy and it's sad to see him go, but like many others here he appears to be caught up on endgame and oblivious to the fact so many of us aren't even there yet. When push comes to shove, most of the RMAH crowd are bound to quit. They don't enjoy the game because they are expecting something else. They bought their way to the "endgame," and that's all there was to it. The rest of us have our gripes with blizzard, mostly with class balance and inferno scaling, but we have time to kill playing around on alts and gearing up our mains slowly but surely until they figure something out.
It's moments like this when I realize why most of my D2 time was spent playing HC. The attitude, the economy, and the playstyle are much more in tune with the self-sufficient and steady player. The drama from instant-gratification players doesn't surface much because they inevitably die and go back to SC.
I plan to play until I beat Inferno, then maybe do the same on an alt or two. Try and push a hardcore character into Inferno.
Then I'll complain that Blizzard didn't give me an infinitely long game. I'll make a few posts about how people who still enjoy playing are wrong. Make a noisy ragequit post claiming I sold all my gear. Maybe try and start a snark-thread about how Blizzard's attempt to replace their WoW-sub income with RMAH income clearly failed. The possibilities are endless.

Quit trying to put words in my mouth. Quit it right now. I'm still having tons of fun when I actually have time to play. I didn't rush for Inferno Diablo, hell, I'm still in Nightmare with the characters that I'm levelling at an enjoyable pace instead of embracing the "OMG MUST BEAT EVERYTHING NOW!" mentality that's taken over too much of gaming.
Speak for yourself, and don't take these and the D3 forums as the voice of everyone playing. Unhappy people are always louder than the happy people.
I was expecting something like Diablo3 is like diablo2 with better graphics, sad its not true .. I quit this week after beating inferno act2 and dying to trash mobs on act3 xP

Lines like that just tend to piss me off. You have absolutely no viable evidence to back that up instead of your own assumption on the game and the x percentage of people who feel the same.
I understand you use the word 'mostly', but your entire post says you only posted that on a very loose note. If you don't like it and only want to use it for a cash cow, then that's your problem. Don't assume other people feel the same. If you allow the small things to ruin the big picture then you're as blind as the rest who feel that way.
The problem was the expectations of the game and most of them weren't met and that is upsetting. However, I also tend to believe that it will be improved upon and that it takes time. The game is new, the fans are old - and we all expected perfection and I know some of us are disappointed.
Ride out the wave instead of drown in the crowd - quit the game if you must for a year and then check back. D2 wasn't all sparkly stars at the beginning either, for those of us that know, however, now we refer to it as the pinnacle of perfection.
Quite frankly, I'm happy with the game, I'm happy with the entertainment I got from it and the entertainment I'm going to continue to receive in the years to come. I enjoy it, I AM disappointed in the lack of story and some other minor things I don't care to mention, but I still enjoy it. I'm not lying to myself, I acknowledge every fault as I often read forums here, on the official site and from my own country.
But I still enjoy it. If you don't, tough luck, but don't tell me I'm lying to myself because you can't find the joy in something good.
On a lighter and slightly more hilarious note: Friend of mine got Tyrael tattoo'd on his back quite a bit back, before the release of Diablo 3, and...he's a racist. Priceless moments...
The Game is terrible! I don't understand how people still play it...
Stop posting already. You spew the same shit every single day. Some of us actually enjoy the game. If you don't enjoy it, that's perfectly fine, but we don't care.
It's the Auction House that's killing it for most people, any item you want is readily available to buy which wasn't the point of Diablo. The point was to trade with other people to acquire better gear, not have it be ready and buy it. I will miss Diablocast because it was my number 1 podcast to watch and listen to.
Meh 350+ hours between a barb and a demon hunter, and I still plan to play both of them as well as leveling at least the other 3 characters to 60. Still enjoying the game quite a bit, and I don't use the RMAH at all. It's fun to just run around and kill things, whether it be stuff I can handle easily (act2 inferno on my barb) or trying to do harder stuff like act 3 in groups with some of my friends.
Still having fun, still earning new and better gear. If you're bored with it then that's cool and I can respect that, but I see no reason to force your opinion on other people and then insult them when they don't agree, saying nonsense such as 'I'm lying to myself because I enjoy it'. That doesn't even make sense.

Wait. Isn't this the guy who killed Diablo (inferno) in under 3 minutes and spent like 300 million on the auction house to do so; now complaining that he's not getting upgrades?
You're kidding me, right? You can't be serious. Of course you're not getting upgrades. You just bought them all.
You buy a good upgrade on the RMAH, then complain that you aren't getting better items in game? Really?
People who are still playing Diablo 3 are mostly lying themselves. Some are pretending that they are having fun and the other half is playing to earn money on RMAH (such is me).
Nah. I finally cleared Belial (inferno) over the weekend after 3 hours of tries. Then last night I one shotted him (well, it was a mutual kill, thanks to DoTs, but same thing :P). That was very fun. I enjoy it quite a bit.
Then again, I'm not upgrading via the Auction House, so I tend to - you know - find upgrades while playing. And have to make tough decisions on horizontal upgrades.
I just wanted to play a hack and slash dungeon crawler
And yet the entire video is about the fact he wasn't compelled to play because of X, Y, and Z.
Frankly, I agree with his assessment about the gear grind being more frustrating (see my itemization thread), but I think the real answer is something he mentioned later; that his taste has changed. Some people like playing ARPG, others need the continuity of an MMO, and others like MOBA or RTS, etc. I used to be a hardcore starcraft player (not that I was any good), but I didn't play sc2 much at all. It wasn't that the game sucked, but I simply didn't want to play an RTS anymore. I had spent too much time playing various mmo's and the way I enjoyed gaming was different.
I don't think blizzard has done admirably here, but I have to re-iterate the fact i'm unimpressed with anyone who can admit to using the RMAH and in the same sentence complain about being uninterested in the game. There is a similar classification of player in most MMOs, the folks who spend real money investing in their characters and always beat the content and crush their pvp opponents quickly and efficiently. They're the first to announce their accomplishments and claim they get the most out of the game, but they are also the first to quit, the first to complain about a lack of new content, and the first to tell everyone else they're wasting time.

You just lost The Game.
In my opinion he/she/it never started playing.
