I recently started a new character and used the AH as I progressed, using gold that I had acquired while playing my DH in Inferno. This was a huge mistake because the game has become boring as shit. I think that I'm going to restart my character and make sure that I restrict myself in certain ways in order to better enjoy playing my alt.
My plan is to get rid of my gold so that my Monk begins the game as if he was my first character. I'll keep the gems that I acquire while playing him separate and not allow myself to use the gems that I found/crafted on my DH. I'll allow myself to use the AH once I start Nightmare or Hell but until then I'll stay away from that shit. Since I won't be using the gold that I've earned while playing Inferno, using the AH shouldn't break my character anymore. Unless I consistently find really great items for next to nothing.
This is the only solution I can come up with. It's either that or just continue breezing through the game, not enjoying myself and falling asleep at my keyboard. I knew that this would be a problem but I didn't really think it through before I bought a bunch of shit on the AH.
The only problem I see with my plan is that I won't really be able to play my DH while I progress to 60 with my Monk.
I can hold onto that gold for you :hehe:. But yeah I completley agree, spent like 100k on my WD in act 2 normal, normal is a joke none the less, with 300 dps on lvl 26... Lets just say it's not fun ^^.
I was up to 500 DPS at level 25 on my Monk.
Fuck that. Seriously.
I felt bad for the people that I was playing cooperative with as they barely had a chance to kill anything.
OP you don't have to make this all complicated with dumping your gold and stuff. Just don't use the AH period until inferno. I made it through on a freaking monk doing this as my first time character with no idea what I was doing. I didn't do any farming at all either. Once you get rid of twinking and AH there isn't a whole lot your stashed gold is going to do. You could try to craft some stuff but frankly everything that isn't an inferno recipe is pretty crap for its level req, and not worth the money to roll over and over. You might see some stuff at the on-level mercs but most of it is junk. (Just don't go abuse that one buggy tristram merc.) So again as long as you stay away from the AH period you can leave your gold where it is, as if melee can completely forego the AH pre-inferno then any class can do it.
