I have this Idea for a new game mechanic which would work kinda like gambling in D2. It would be an awesome way to play and try out all the millions of different builds that are in the game. It would work like this:
PVP
Players would put a set amount of gold in a purse (4 players max)
Then each player would spin a slot machine type device and it would randomly pick 6 skills with a random rune each. (they would have 20 seconds or so to macro the skill where they want and look them over)
PVP would commence and the winning person would either have a choice between the gold or a mystery Item (could be magic, rare, legendary, or set)
OK that was PVP, PVE would go something like this:
Player would pay a set amount of gold.
A carnie type NPC would then spin a wheel type device (or something a little more Diabloish) and it can either land on a item(rare event) or gold(not as rare but up there) or Challenge(most common)
If the player lands on challenge the he/she would have to fight a random elite or rare pack/individual. affixes would scale according to difficulty.
If player wins then they can either choose; mystery amount of gold, mystery item, or another spin.
OK that's my two cents. Appreciate any comments, suggestions, tips Thanks
i think thats really fun...but to be honest blizz would never take time to implement that. they would leave it up to us like in sc2 on custom maps but they have none in diablo soooo......sadface
Ofcourse its a good idea. But keep dreaming anything of all of those that had been posted here would be implemented in the game in next year or two...
Well, they are fixing legendaries- no one saw that coming, and I suspect its because people were posting about it. I do agree it seems a bit far fetched but so are treasure goblins. It'd be cool to see a bonus like this added to the game. Don't jinx it, damn it.
A nice idea, but obviously the slot machine should disable Elective Mode for the roll. Otherwise you'd be able to get builds with no damagers at all.
I don't see an issue with random runes, in fact that's what makes it fun. But like Rade said it would have to be Non-Elective mode in order to work right. That being said I believe this would give players a chance to find some crazy builds they would have never thought about before and get them thinking in new ways, Plus who doesn't like to gamble? =)
Voted yes as the PvP option sounds amusing - not entirely sold on the PvE portion of it, as I don't know that it's truly necessary (or any more than a masked grind as it is). Decent item nonetheless.

That was part of my intention; to make "grinding", a little less "grind-y". =)
I think it could be good for PvP, but I think your PvE idea is pretty terrible.
Since I'm mostly interested in PvE I voted "no" but I would at least like to tell you that I think you have an interesting and compelling idea for PvP.

I think for PvE a type of risk/reward "infnite dungeon" style would be the optimal solution.
-Pay to enter (probably a limit on the total times you can do it per day or week)
-"Rounds" of enemies/bosses
-Every 5 rounds you have a choice to take your currently accumulated prize pot or continue.
-Every successful 5 rounds your prize pot increases in value
-Every 25 rounds you earn a guaranteed reward of some kind
-If you die, you lose everything in your accumulating prize pot (excluding the guaranteed rewards)
-At 100 rounds complete, the dungeon ends and you win a "jackpot" prize (your accumulated prize pot + bonus rewards)
Lots of other details and things that can be done with this type of idea, but it's something I see pop up in requests very often. It's definitely something I would be interested in.

Yes yes yes (and one more "yes"). This would add *so* much to the game. Regardless of how it is implemented (arena style, endless random floors, pay as you go, whatever) it would be hella fun. I really hope they implement something like this.
To show how awesome it can be; I *still* play Lufia II every so often and, once I get to the random dungeon, I play non-stop trying to beat it. Never beat it without cheating however... it's fun though.

You're a wizard Harry.....

Also how would I go about submitting it to them?

PVP rolling with random runes, HELL NO!! Roll the skills, pick the runes. As it stands so many runes are truly dreadful POS.
