What? Missile dampening? Am I the only one that hasn't seen this affix before?
literally played about 100 hours at this point, mostly inferno, and i've never seen this affix before.
I've seen it 4 or so times, but as a monk it doesn't do much to me!
I did once see it with a DH friend and it was fun watching all his shots stop and crawl slowly towards the enemy. I'm sure the DH didn't find it as fun.
i've seen missile dampening only twice in 130+ hours where i've seen mortars and reflect damage A LOT more (it even seems to me that every pack comes with mortar/reflect damage...
part of the problem is the Missile Dampening only comes on rares and mortar/reflect can happen on both rare/champ wich increase the chance of mortar/reflect to show up, also Invulnerable can obviously only spawn on rares too, but even then i've seen many more Inv than Missile dampening.
I think it's safe too safe the the random is indeed tweeked at some extent, they put limits so it,s not 100% random
also Missile Damp can be quite hard agains't certain ennemies (DH can literally do nothing if the mobs is fast enough)

One string of tentacles = entire group dead.
Also, after reading through this thread I must be the only person who gets them often. Still probably the least of all affixes, but often enough. As a DH it is amazing to watch the entire group sit within the bubble and die to half a hatred bar thanks to nether tentacles.
...That being said, it is not nearly as fun to watch you 1-shot yourself if they are reflect/missile dampening.

My WD has seen Missile Damp (or, what I think is missile damp, it's the one that has the Wizard's time bubble on top of the champ/elite, correct?) many more times than invulnerable. The funny thing is, at least for a WD, is only some attacks count as "missiles." Poison Dart does (it's fun to see a solid stream of splinters slowly inching towards the mob), but Dire bat doesn't, nor does Zombie Bear, or even corpse spider.
I love how everyone here is more or less being dickish to the OP, yes he only has a sample size of 9 at the moment but if you read his last statement it seem he was not necessary looking for opinions on if he is right but TRYING to get a larger sample size by asking others if they have noticed anything or got a larger percentage of one particular affix or not. Help him if you want but leave your nonconstructive criticisms off and let the topic die if you don't like it.
As for you OP, I dont have any numbers but I have to say As a Barb player I seem to notice way more jailer, plagued and desecrater than anything else. It would be interesting to see if they are manipulating the RNG based on the class.
This is what I have been meaning to respond with, so thank you for doing it for me. Too busy being super leet DH glass cannon yo! But seriously, how awesome is fortifide bunker farming as a DH? ok ok.
Anyways yes, I have been trying to just convey that me and my friends have numbers, we have patterns, shit looks obviouse (in the sense that elites cater to ranged different than melee, being the biggest one). And for anyone who cares, most-to-all of our patterns regaurding elites have stayed for the most part. Only difference being a drop in reflects (AWESOME), 1 more missle damp (total to 7 now, average is 3). And only 5 fast packs since last numbers were counted (OP, about a week)
Thanks to all that actually read the whole post to figure what it was about instead of seeing "sample size 9" and insta flamming.
...then again, who doesnt like a good (attempted) roast now and again.
To be completely honest, the first time I was in Inferno, I was encountering many invulnerable packs. The last days none. But it's not that big of a sample.
Usually, it's just your perspective. Like Murphy's Law. You just remember better that bad things that happen, and you think they happen more often, either because you forget the good, or you think the bad are more important and have more of an impact on your psych.
I already responded to such notions in a previouse post. Its wildly understood, but my sample size is not in the habit of taking 10mins on something that either cant be beaten or...takes 10mins @_@. Just tally and move on.
Yes the bad can tend to stick out, why wouldnt they. But this is about what have you seen and how many times compaired to what else. really just looking for top3 solo numbers (since grouping with others; melee with ranged and ect, tend to blend our numbers big time) we just want to see what classes are having to face what against the might of the Blizzard 'RNG'
Off topic: yes there is a difference between random chance and equal chance. Again, a none issue, just want datas.
..AND MORE GOD DAHM MISSLE DAMPS!!!!!!! MY NETHER TENTICLES LOVE YOU!!!!!
I do think this is an extrmely small sample, and that its not possible to make any conculsions based on the OPs observations. Still, f you are using 9 players to compare item affix drops, your sample size is not 9. Each item triggers random generaion. So if you were looking at affix probablity for gloves, every pair of gloves found in the time period under scrutiny would be your sample size. The number of items found is what matters. Not the number of players. 1 player could play 24-7 and find 2000 gloves and the sample would have the same validity as 200 players finding 10 gloves each.
The OP left out how many items this information is actually based on, so we really don't know the sample size or whether this has any validity. If one week, they rolled 4000 magic and rare items over all and came up with 400 items with resist all, and this week they found 4000 more items and got 1600 resist all or something, percentages like that would get my attention.
I don't think there is enough evidence here to prove it is happening because the post is a little vague. Still I wouldn't be surprised if Blizzard is tweaking the affix probabilities on the fly to tune the game. If they are, I don't see a problem with it.
TLDR/summary: I'm bored, and I like typing. Ignore me.

Once again thanks for only trying to 'poke holes' instead of reading what the post is all about...its kind of in the title.
WHAT DO YOU SEE... it also reads in the OP 'even for rough estimates'...if any of you took times to read wtf this thread was about instead of ...idk what people that fail at reading do so, I assume just get really frustrated when they see more than one sentence and start hooting like an ape? Moving on.
Again, what elites do you people see while you are solo? How many times? What are the patterns you have seen for yourself in loot?
When updating try to stick to 'your op'
Thanks again to those that can read.

Still doesn't say anything about random or not.
