Supposedly it can roll 1400 dps if you are REALLY lucky. About 1k dps should be fairly common.
Well I have crafted 15 of them, the highest dps I've gotten is 670...
Total cash spent - almost 8mil. I don't even wanna think what weapon I could've bought off AH for those 8 mil.
I must be either really unlucky or crafting is just a very expensive gamble.
Crafting costs are completely broken. There is a reason the costs are coming down significantly in the near future. The gold cost is high at the moment to provide a solid gold sink, but it's not a gold sink if the costs are so prohibitively high no one ever crafts anything. You are one of the very few people actually using the blacksmith. I was excited about the blacksmith, but I haven't even leveled mine all of the way because you can spend money on the AH and get exactly what you want. The cost should be brought down to make gambling on the blacksmith be a viable way to spend money and get decent items rather then just a waste.
Crafting is meant to be done slowly, if your power leveling it in hopes for a good item right off the bat, your doing it wrong.
Whatever floats your boat though.
This isn't wow where you power level to max level and make "x" item where you know what your getting.
In my eyes crafting is the new gheed from D2.
Good luck!
Yes its the new Gheed... except in a world where that gold has purpose. Making the gamble absolutely pathetic. This rips you off and turns you to pieces more quickly and efficiently than a casino.
They are adjusting the prices for a reason. Do you understand that it's only broken because it's the players who choose what gold is worth, not blizzard. It is not fundamentally flawed, it is an effect of the players, and thus they are adjusting it to make it worthwhile.
So long as the nerf to the costs is atleast half it would become useful. I have already used the blacksmith and received upgrades as well. I have also spent a couple million on garbage too. It's a decent way to make quick upgrades. In my case it's even more useful because I refuse to buy gear off the AH so it's an outlet to spend some gold.
Luckily they will reduce the BS prices in the next patch.
They will release it in 1.0.3, not necessarily the next patch, right? The next patch could be 1.0.2c. Unless they are considering the a, b, c, etc. hotfixes, yet label them patches.

I don't want a 1k dps weapon. Grand Phantom Bow have 6 magical properties.
