There is currently a way to click an item, and simply edit the display text, including stats and the name of the item. In no way is the item changed in the game, just the display numbers.
Really makes me wonder if we'll see RMAH any time soon.
How would this have anything to do with RMAH? Did you read the first post and none of the replies? The items are fake, its just faked items links, the items shown do not actually exist. No hacked items in circulation!
(after reading about how people can generate links to non-existent weapons) Wow that sounds terrible - they can link together mods on a weapon that will cause your client to crash when you view it - guess hardcore players shouldn't click on links in chat for a while lol
It has everything to do with the RMAH - it's an easy way to scam really stupid people (which, to be fair, will be an overwhelming majority of the playerbase when the RMAH is finally out). Once Bliz sanctions and regulates a basic real money for gold "rate" - whether or not they use proxies or sell actual items themselves - the idiots that fall for these scams, transparent as they may seem, could potentially have legal standing on any one of five different continents in a claim.
1 of the item was a fist weapon with a DPS of 40k and the other was an amulet with 650% increase gold.
So way.....

No there where not photoshop. I click on the on the item in general chat and it show me the stats that I stated earlier.
One of them was red and the other was legendary.

But yes it's not real.

See the reddit link a few replies above your own, it has how to do it.
