k so after farming act 1 inferno till my eyes bled and not getting a single thing worthy of an upgrade or sellable, for well over week and a half now, i gave up on my dh and i got to end of act 2, barely (many many repair bills) stuck on belial now (sigh)
with 1.03 though, making stuff slightly easier will be a big boon to my killing champs in act 2, as i am currently running from 90% of them as i cant kill them, my dps is to low, i suck, whatever the reason, i am struggling in any kind of farming in act 2, i completed the quests with help and luck, but as for farming i am at a wall.
here is the point of this thread though, the fact they are buffing drops, for one says to me that they are aware that drops had been to low to begin with, despite everyone saying to the contrary (fan boys, elitists etc) and that "just go farm act 1" was all everyone was saying...which is unreasonable currently, due to inferno dropping crap drops, sure you can farm butcher 5 stack over and over, but you never get any drops worthy of an upgrade, or once in awhile you get that lucky 1 mill+ item (150 hours on my dh never got ONE of those)
The main problem is though that the overlap is skewed in inferno, i expected inferno to drop 59/60 gear, even if they were random crap stats with chance at good ones, it would of been far better than the level 51 and 55 blues, even rares that we get now.
5 stack butcher...3 lvl 55 blues (junk) and 2-3 rares, lvl 55 or even 51 at times, all straight to the vendor/bs...and then...you do it again...and again...with same results. its rare that i even get a level 60 item let alone have useful stats? why is inferno level 60 if 95% of the gear is level 51-58 blue junk? from 5 stack bosses? even champs hardly ever drop anything, same thing all crap blues/rares way underlevel. (some underlevel gear is on par with 60 stuff..yes i am aware of what item levels mean)
Now yes granted not all loot will be great, but when you farm for DAYS on end, hours upon hours in multiple farm spots (not just boss runs) and get NOTHING it really demoralizes you to continue on, when you know every single item you will get will be underlevel and crap. There's no excitement for new gear, no new anything, for days, in d2 you'd at least get ONE thing a day or a few if you farmed...i've gotten NOTHING...every single item i have i got from AH in 3 weeks, playing 10 hours a day, doing multiple runs, full clears, boss runs, chest farming, you name i have done it.
so this patch will hopefully start making it so useful LEVEL APPROPIATE drops start dropping, not 61/62's we need 63's in inferno act 1, small chance, but SOME chance, not NONE like myself have been getting from the start. Would love to kill a rare pack in act 1 inferno and get a nice new shiny 1k dps bow, that would be awesome, i would be estactic and excited, upgrade! not the current way...kill a pack, loot it, move on, end of farm session, glance over identified rares, toss to vendor, restart again....throw us a frickin bone here.
Boss 5 stack getting 1 less rare, i can live with that, putting an extra rare on champs is a nice change, that means i can go into act 1 and farm every single champ pack knowing i have more chances at loot now, and if i feel like it hop over to butcher for kicks.
At least now champs will drop 1 guaranteed rare, and not just 2-3 crap blues, like a lot fo them still do currently, which will be nice for incentive to farm more than just 5 for 5 stack, it will now be 5 stack then go keep killing champs with that 5 stack to get even more rares, which is awesome honestly.
The other thing is, a side effect maybe is that wyrmyshire drops act 4 highest lvl loot, with the drop rate change, makes you wonder if ponyland will see a dramatic increase in highest rares, if so that means that once you get geared, it will be the best spot to farm, i already farm here (cloud chest death runs) and get some nice 60 loot, but with patch...this spot may be killer even more.
the last thing (this post is long already) is that they are thinking about increasing the gold for repairs x4 or even 6...that is...rediculous honestly, for those undergeared this will just be punishment added to injury, we die a lot in inferno, undergeared, underskilled, we arent trying to exploit or body hop through it, and yet we will suffer immensely for dying, it would be total crap to have to farm a whole day just to afford gold repair bills for a day of doing act 2 and 3, i pay 6k every 8 or so deaths ish, thats pretty good at the moment
its not a lot, but when you repair 2-3 times a day just doing quests act 2 inferno as a dh, it does add up, not everyone is a millionarie, and those that are will just laugh at the higher repair costs anyways, gives them a goldsink i guess (although they dont die nearly as much, due to having the best gear..so...it comes full circle)
I try and respond to all of it but it will be not in order.
Repair bills:
They needed to go up. The whole point is to stop corpse runs of content you are just not ready for or at least have a penalty attached. As for it being to much gold well hopefully this will not have the effect of lowering the amount of gold in the economy and dropping prices in the AH.
Also with Perfect squares saving you almost 20k a craft... well it adds up fast.
In the end if you are dying to much it either means you need to farm an earlier area or change something (build, gear set-up, etc..). People are clearing the content. It is dooable but very very difficult sometimes (or downright run away!).
Item Drops:
The main problem was the amount of higher level items dropping from monsters. I think it was quite evident that they were a little to low for the level 59-60 stuff and this should smooth some things out but it wont change THAT much. The only real change will be actually farming more champs/rares/uniques for rares after 5x NV and boss kill. Weather It makes us go backwards or forwards in the act... time will tell.
Your DPS as a DH:
Its not that you suck. you are probably just gearing for the wrong things or arnt getting the gear. Diablo is about drops, you dont get them or cant afford them on AH... well... kill more and cross fingers. with some of the DHs breaking 50k in inferno often its really about your gear.
I have found nothing worth putting on the auction house and not 1 upgrade, everything I have of decent items I have bought on the AH myself.
This is why I haven't bought anything off the AH. If the items I buy there are always WAY better than what can drop where you're currently fighting, then you will NEVER get an upgrade, which takes the excitement out of the drops.
I just hit Nightmare Act 4, so I may have to break down and buy something one day soon just so I can progress, but until that time comes I'll keep working with the drops I get and the occasional nice piece of jewelry I find on vendors.
One thing that does bother me is the fact that my level 50 monk in NMA4 gets mostly level 40-ish item drops. I wish they were more on par with his level.
Maybe i'm playing a different game than some people... I farmed Butcher with 5 stacks for about 2 hours a day for a week. Managed to find a legendary ammy of him once, But the main thing is i am consistently getting 300-400 dps 1hers and 500-600 2hers, even up to 700dps or so, sometimes with decent stats on them aswell, Also probably got 7-8 pieces of armour over that week that had in the order of 50-70 str/dex/intel and 40-60 All resists. Now most of that stuff (mostly weapons) ends up getting salvaged anyway, but my point is i have no magic find, and either you guys are exaggerating like crazy, or i have the best luck in the world...
I just want to see the whole game even out, If I am in hell which requires level 50 to enter it I don't want to see ANYTHING drop below 48~49 level. In Act 1 Inferno I don't want to see anything drop that is not level 59 or higher. That is my problem with the loot tables, they seem to be geared WAY too low. I hit a wall in Hell difficulty so I caved and went to the auction house. Level 50+ items easily trumped my old gear, I had only seen one item above level 50 before that in hell and that was a blue helm with one stat and socket. Terrible. Itemization is what needs to change. I know I have to farm but as I said elsewhere, I want a hope of good items, if 90% of my drops are 3-5 levels lower than me what are the chances that I will ever find a rare that is an upgrade. almost none. That, IMO, is the most important thing to address. Find the average level per quest (first time complete mind you) and have items of that level (+- 1~2) be the majority of the drops.
