Can someone please explain to me why Barbarians and Monks get 30% damage reduction when Demon Hunters and Wizards are the ones who are getting one shotted by mobs? How does this even remotely make sense to anyone? I would really, really like to know if and when Blizzard plans on giving ranged classes some survivability.
I'm sorry but no class should have this type of survivability:
I've spent a lot of gold building my Demon Hunter up and I still get one shotted by mobs and when I see a monk/barb in my group surrounded by the same mobs t hat kill me in one hit and he never even comes close to dying I just want to quit. i feel like i wasted the last two weeks of my life playing a demon hunter.
Lol don't get hit. I leveled up a demon hunter and recently passed my barbarian in act II. I'm 75% done in act II whereas my barb just started act II. Don't know if you're playing him wrong or Not buying the right gears.
What's helps me is buy a sexy weapon and by sexy I mean 900+ xbow. With stats I look for Dex > Vit > AR (all resistance) > IAS. My resistance so far is about 300. Also for my passive I use SS, archery, and steady aim. Try this and see if you die less and do more damage
roll a barbarian and try to do inferno with him we get 30% reduction because without it, everything will obliterate us in miliseconds. i have lvl 60 barbarian, 8k armor, 43k hp, 700+ all resistance, SnB build and guess what? Act 2 wasps are raping me, same with anything that hits hard. Why? because i need to stack more defensive stats = i need more act1 farm + expensive AH stuff. i wish i could go all strength and +crit damage with huge 2h weapon. Well i can but I would die even faster... Dont complain about getting hit at range, you have mobility to avoid being hit. Ofc you will die, thats the game. Everybody dies in this game (unless you have uber gear) due to some pack combinations.
I'm a demon hunter in act 3 inferno atm, and he does have a point. Normally I can kite and kill stuff just fine, but it can be really annoying to kite a champion with extra health and spell reflects for almost five minutes, then do one simple mistake and get oneshot.
Even normal small mobs oneshot me,worms coming out of the ground or ranged mobs hitting you from outside of the screen can be really annoying, you're dead immidiately if you don't react with an extremely fast smokescreen.
The problem for range is that the only real way to gear is more damage, you will get oneshot whatever you do, while barbs and monks can gear up enough to be able to tank almost everything.
I play barb and all the ranged players i know , DH's and Wiz do far better than me in act 3 inferno. I spent 2 weeks farming gear and now i solo act 1 / 2 inferno. I think its only fair that barbs have 30% damage reduction.. we can't kite so we take far more melee damage. But its all about your spec and gear.. thats what i love about the game. You have to change things and evolve as you go to defeat the game
I feel that's the problem for demonhunters atleast, you can't change things, the only way is going full damage and kite.
As a ranged, maybe unfortunately, kiting is a playstile in diablo. If you don't enjoy it you should try the melee classes.
And stacking resis, vitality is a inevitable to go trough inferno even with high kiting skills! Just use your slow abilitys and have fun!
At first I rolled a Barb, it was like, yeah pretty easy and I was feeling soooo powerful, 'til lvl 40. Then I had to switch SnB (played in a 4 players party). Then I reached Inferno. Act 1 was difficult but soon cleared. Act2 was a pain in the ass for about a week until I finally managed to grab some gear (from direct drop, friend and ah).
Then... act 3 : are you kidding me ? 9k armor, 300 all res, 75k hp = completely raped by random trash packs.
Then I tried to review my gear by getting the String of Ears belt, the Helm of Command and even a chest with 4% melee damage reduction. New stats = 51K hp, 30% block chance, 800 all res, 23% melee dmg reduction = still not able to handle the trash on the way to Asmodan.
Then I went on my fresh lvl 60 DH, grab some gear, soon reached 87K dps without spending much in the AH (probably less than 500K). Currently doing some Inferno Asmodan with 5 NV stacks with a couple of mates (dh and wiz respectively).
The barbarian in that video was constantly mashing his revenge button and constantly going below 20% hp. I don't call that survivability. Had one of those revenges not gone off, he would have been done.
Well, if ranged players stopped thinking that 20k hp is OK for inferno because you have 45k dps, maybe they wouldn't get 1 shotted?
I'm playing WD and I must say that a lot of people ask me why do I have 47k hp and 500 all resists? Well, I may only have 35k dps, but I don't get 1shot by act3 spearthrowers, and I'm able to progress without requiring the perfect "no-mobs-hit-me" run to be able to finish a quest.

If you can't amaze people with your intelligence, confuse them with your bullshit.
I don't think it's ranged specifically that have more difficulty in Inferno. It may be a matter of low intelligence, have you tried stacking intellect?
Are you kidding me?
I play barb, my brother plays a dh. I spent crazy amounts of gold and farming on my gear, he just bought a good weapon (the rest is just some mediocore gear i found during my farm runs), he seriously has spent like 5% the amount of gold as me. Guess what: he farms the shit out of act 3 (constantly 5 stacks nv). I can't do shit in act 3.
This. i have a roughly 4m gold total suit on my wiz and once i spent the gold to drop vita for dps increase (at 36k) from a nice weapon and got myself to 400s resist all, i am cruising thru act II inf (farm style) and should have belial down tonight. im using cookie cutter arcane FA build. stacking defensive and finding that perfect HP total to avoid damage with FA (around 33-36k) is the key. also get 12% runspeed boots. also play solo - teaming up for anything past act 1 is just silly and makes the game unnecessarily hard. solo its much easier.
tldr - ranged are fine, inferno is endgame, etc.
it takes some time on the AH, but it really isn't THAT bad.

What did you complain about with ranged again ?
