I noticed that the graphics is pretty low-end compared to many of today's games. So this means, I really don't need a $200+ graphics card to see all the effects right?
Like a Nvidia GT 440 is going to render it just good enough, and a higher end card like 550 or better does it make a big difference?
Can someone provide screenshots pictures to compare the better cards to the lesser cards.

Blizzard, please put back the single player offline mode!
If you are a gamer and have money saved up, DO NOT go cheap on a video card. It is absolutely the backbone of running D3 smoothly. Just go to nvidia's website and look at the performance charts between the cards. I bought a GTX 680 (upgraded from an ATI HD5870) and it is night and day in the performance.
Spend the extra money for a better card, you won't regret it in the long run.
^Take that video posted and imagine real crappy framerates and lag, and that's what you get with a low end Nvidia. Then take a good card on high settings with 60+ fps and that's what you get with a GTX 560 or better.
Well, thinkthis video just said not much difference between low end cards and high end cards.
Good luck to you if you believe it. You don't need a top end card, and a lot of mid ranged cards will do the job. But if you penny pinch for a low-mid range card, you will greatly regret it.
Tomshardware was claiming 44+ minimum framerates at max settings 1920 x 1080 with a GTX 550 Ti which is on Newegg for $125 + shipping ($115 after mail in rebate). At lower resolutions or if you are willing to turn down some of the more GPU-intensive graphics settings, it looks like you could get by with an HD 6670 for $65 + shipping ($55 after MIR). If capping your refresh rate at 1080P+ with max settings is important to you, you could step up to like a GTX 460 or an HD 6850, but you certainly don't need a $500, nigh-impossible-to-find-in-stock GTX 680 for that.
EDIT: What I'd actually recommend is, depending on desired resolution and settings, comparing this guide to the above link and choosing that way.

...and if you disagree with me, you're probably <insert random ad hominem attack here>.
I just built a new rig and have a 560Ti and i get 100+ fps on all high settings at 1080P. You can get them on sale for $200. If you're playing on a monitor that can run 1080P I wouldn't recomend anthing less.
Forgot to mention: Make sure your processor won't bottleneck the GPU.
Are there any other good videos that show the effects difference between 440 and those much better?
Go to Youtube and look. You got a video in this thread showing the difference between low and high rendering. Tanis gave you a site with a lot of information on it. It's up to you now to look at the specs of cards, GPU performance, and find one in your budget range.
For what it's worth, a GTX 440 looks like it's a little worse than an HD 6670, so I wouldn't really feel comfortable running it at any more than like 1680 x 1050 with close to minimum settings, and I'd probably expect 30ish frames per second. It would probably be playable, but not optimal.

1. Pc with gtx 550 - run diablo 3 extremly smooth on the highest setting possible.
2. A late 2009 Mac with graphics card i honestly dont even know, but i can run wow on low-med setting and get 30 fps in 25 man raids with this mac. But i cant even run diablo 3 on low settings with this set up.
I currently have both at home but planned on taking one in to work (for the slow days) so i can play on downtime, i can run the game but at 2 fps or something small like that , cant upgrade MAC video cards so my plan was thrawted.
But instead of reading all that BS above i couldve just said to spend it on a beginer lvl high end card, if that makes sense. I believe the 550 is one of those cards runs about 250 300 bucks i beleive.

The MAC client right now is buggy and is running poorly. Bliz is aware of the problem and is working on it. But a GTX 550 is $150 < if you paid more then that in the last year you got ripped off. I just bought a 560Ti for $200 from newegg. It runs the game >100FPS on the all high settings. This is the best $ to power card out right now in my opinion.
If you post your current specs I can point you in the right direction on what your system can handle upgrade wise. Is your power supply up to par? Will your CPU bottleneck the GPU? Things like that.
