    • Topaz gems will add Magic Find when socketed into a Helmet

Good stuff molster, i am guessing you wont get MF from putting a topaz in chest armor anymore then?

I hope that Topaz gems in armor besides the helm will still give MF%. I'm a topaz whore. :P

    • Magic Find helps increase the likelihood of Magic, Rare, Set and Legendary items dropping.

Might want to reword that as it can be a bit misleading. Magic Find doesn't increase the chance of a Magic/Rare/Set/Legendary item dropping, rather it increases the stats of any items that do drop. Only the Barbarian can actually affect the drop rate of enemies.

Hello guys. I just joined your forum to clarify you about one thing.

"The Magic Find attribute can be found on any weapon or armor"

This is incorrect as not a single weapon in the beta had magic find or gold find on it.

Ah you are right for all intensive purposes really
lol when people trying to sound smart... You're wrong about MF on weapons, and you're wrong about "intensive purposes". The saying is "intents and purposes". And it doesn't apply, because the original statement is 100% correct in all circumstances.

He's not wrong about weapons (although possibly by accident)....it is not an affix that is available on blue/yellow weapons. Some unique and set weapons have it, but in general it is an armor only thing.

The follower is only gaining 20% of the +Gold and +Magic Find % stats on the items, that you equip to him.

    Would like something clarified.
Is that 20% in total or is that 20% of your follower's Magic find? As in your follower has 30% magic find, Do you get 20% magic find from him or do will you get 6% magic find (20% of 30%MF)

    Magic Find = quality up

See that (white quality) normal dagger that dropped? If you had more Magic Find it could have been magical (blue), rare (yellow) or set/legendary (green/purple - if it exists)

    That's what MF does.

@Boxfresh: Take follower MF and multiply by 0.2. If he had 30%, you're getting 6%. Used addictively so if you had 200 MF, you'll get 206.

That is what i thought MF do (and in D2 did).... but a few people say that MF just increases the amount of drops, not the quality.
so if a mob droppes without any MF for example 1 item - and with a lot of mf for example 4 items. but the chance that these items are rare-items are for every item the same.

    so whats right now?
higher mf -> more dropps with the same chances of better quality? or the same amount of dropps with higher changes of a better item-quality?

    i am a little bit confused o.O

the MF bonus goes higher, so more itemz not more monsters i believe.

    Quote from melol2

It seems as though MF will be very rewarding for D3 if you can get a good MF group together. Especially since each person gets their own set of drops

not true as it's devided, will be far better running around alone with good MF, if you are in a squad and everyone has good MF you will get more drops. but if you have the highest (technically) you are losing items to your squad mates.

MF = useless killing enemies, so your team aren't leaching of you any more than you are leaching off of their "killing stats"
i thought we were over that!

Man I know it's mean but I wonder if there will be a 'kick player' option when you join a random group. It'd suck to have nephalem buff stacking then some dumb or troll player comes in and destroys the streak consistently.

1st of all u dont loose buff when ppl enter ur game .. 2nd of all its not mean .. its stupid & on ur part to open game to public even tho you clearly dont wanna socialise with less skilled players - then in the words of king Richard Figures Why The Fu** did u open game to public ?

There seems to be some confusion about how MF actually works. Monsters of specific levels and designations can drop items from specified treasure classes, usually a range of them. When that monster dies, it rolls to see which treasure class to drop an item from or whether it will drop nothing at all. It goes through treasure classes and selects the item types for all drops. They could be armor, weapons, rings, potions, gold, etc.

Once it has selected the types of items to be dropped it checks the quality. MF is inserted at this point and an item of the "Great Spear" category would have a higher chance of being selected as legendary, set, rare, or magic instead of plain white. All item drops are checked as such unless they have only a normal quality to select from (like potions).

Does this result in higher quality drops? Yes. Increasing your MF will make more of your drops better quality.

Does this result in MORE drops? Theoretically increasing your MF does not give you more drops, but since it increases the quality, you would get more magic items, more rares, more legendaries, and more set pieces. So yes, it gives you more usable drops.
