As with most games ranged characters have the advantage when it comes to killing things. They usually have an easier time.
How do you think it will be in D3? Do you think melee classes will have a hell of alot harder time killing shit in inferno??
Melee classes clearly were having a harder time staying alive in inferno. They were given 30% damage reduction a few patches ago. Only time will tell if this enough.
ranged is always always always > melee for ease/efficiency for killing. unless of course they completely gimp the ranged classes and way overpower the melee ones. which doesnt seem to be the case with the information we have. 30% may be nice but it doesnt compare to a ranged class whos taking 10x less hits then you would in melee therefor adding up to a lot less overall dmg than that 30% is helping.

Im scared to make a barb first lol. Although they will have alot of extra damage rrduction from gear and alot of self healing abilities. It should be fine in the long run. Ill be yhe only strength character out of all my friends and get fed some gear.
I think that melee classes will do OK in inferno compared to ranged classes, but the style of play will be very different. much more of a "keep the mobs occupied while ranged dps" sort of situation in inferno. Soloing will be especially difficult as melee
I think there will be cases where mobs will chain root, or run too fast to control. Cases will exist where mobs will have to hit... something. It may as well be a class that takes less damage (melee) vs one that takes more damage (ranged).
So I am skeptical of there being a balancing issue if Inferno is as hard as I think it will be.
when it comes to inferno, i think range classes especially demon hunter will have the edge. simply because we can kite and take no damage, dh has amazing escape and is more likely to kills mobs in inferno under geared then a melee under geared.
undergeared melee = might not be able to inferno
undergeared range = might be able to inferno slowly (or luckily by trying their luck at champion affixes)
Adequately geared anything = should be no problem
The undergeared range disadvantages seem minor compared to that of undergeared melee though. If your armor/vit isn't high enough, for your barb/monk you might not last long enough to even worry about champion affixes.
1m gold says ill beat inferno before you and with less deaths. and i mean time played not real time. and no not because im 'so superior', but because ranged is always better than melee. game on?

Ranged = squishy. Monsters = Aggressive.
Enjoy trying to run your squishy ass away from a group of monsters that run faster, hit harder, and have more health that you.
You will wish you were a barb.
