with a 500 dps weapon + 1500 (any stat) 1.5APS and normals skills its more like 20 000 dps at the start of inferno and much more at the end
It makes me wonder how they fought bosses for many hours then. If 4 players do 5k dps can kill a 15 mil hp monster in 12.5 minutes (roughly), how are they fighting bosses for hours?
Somewhere, some of this information does not seem to match up... unless they are just so focused on sheer survival that the fights are drawn out by mechanics, not necessarily by the number crunching.
And I would assume that, like Hell mode in D2, monsters in Hell and Inferno will have regeneration rates. Also, since the boss "arenas" are on lockdown until the group kills them or wipes, it makes it even more interesting. Of course, the bosses completely reset in the event of a wipe.
I understand that you came up with 12 minute's assuming the stats are for 4 player mode. I think the stats in this guide are based on single player so 12,5 minutes times 4 would give 50 minutes. Closer to what blizz said:D
I can hardly believe 170k damage from inferno monsters..Getting one-shotted isn't fun OR hard.. it's just stupid.
Armor.
Armor wouldn't even remotely make those hits livable.
Even if armor reduced dmg by 50%, that's still 85,000 dmg. That's still a one shot...
Now lets assume the char is melee and gets extra 30% dmg reduction, that would be 59,500 dmg. That's still a one shot...for a melee toon, who has to stand in melee range.
So yah,

That makes more sense. So we would be looking at between 15-60 million health?
Yeah, people better NOT sit in town...
I calculated 5k dps against 15 million health to take 12.5 minutes. But if there were 4 people, that would be 20k dps against 60 million health, gives 50 minutes. I'm glad you are better at math than I am.

I think thats the guide, if any one can find that sample, it would be great.
And if boss encounters take that long, haha wow, I remember the days of Monster Hunter on PSP, where fights took like 45 mins, and you almost threw the PSP off the wall in frustration if you died.
I tell you what... that Nephalem Valor buff is going to be so important it isn't funny. I can see people queuing for the last boss in Act 4 Inferno, clearing their way to Big D, wiping, then farming Act 1 for rares just to get the buff again. If fights are going to take an hour or more, it would suck to get the kill without the buff.
You would need insane dps to fight a mob with 15.7m hp.

You realize that this dps is "target dummy dps" right? so you stand still and nuke for 12 and a half minute.
The fights will not alow you to stand still for 12,5 mins, i think you might be happy if you are able to stand still for 5 secs.
so i would at least double the time for the fight due to all the monvement you need to do
I agree. That's one thing I was pointing at when talking about how long it took the testers on some fights.
Also, on the "You Will Die. We Promise." video, you can see numbers both low and high on the damage. I did catch at least one hit for over 1,000. And gold drops of 12! Maybe it was Nightmare they were showing us?
And of course, they did say they spent over an hour wiping on one boss. I wonder how far they got the boss before they wiped.

Now lets assume that it's a monster that's SUPPOSED to one shot you because it's incredibly slow and easy to kite and you're not supposed to engage it in melee but kite it around. Maybe melee are just supposed to avoid it.
Wow, it's really hard to make ANY statements about ANYTHING without actually experiencing something isn't it?
Throw that back into the math and an 18k hit becomes 2700 dmg for a melee toon.
It would take about 4 seconds to kill a normal mob.

It's the published official game guide from Brady.
Why would SKs HP go down from what it was at the end of beta? He was too easy to begin with.
Fake numbers are fake.
They aren't fake numbers. They are the numbers Blizzard gave them initially, when they set the game guides to print. Then, in Patch 14 Blizzard buffed the monsters from 1-20. It would not show up in the game guide, as the game guide was already in print (just like the instruction manual for the game was).
You honestly don't think they would release a completely new game guide for every balance patch, do you?
The SK's mechanics in the beta weren't so tough. Avoiding getting hit by him even without Vault or a similar skill wasn't that hard at all. As long as you stay within a certain range he does not do his teleport attack. You're a drooling retard if you /CAN'T/ avoid his attacks, bro.
It might be tougher, sure, but far far far from impossible.
On top of resists, armor, buffs, debuffs, I still think it's possible. What I AM worried about is the rest of the bosses whose mechanics aren't as megaman easy to avoid once you learn them.
Riight. And I'm sure that when he teleports on top of you and busts out a whirlwind for 125415 damage, or summons multiple skeletons on top of you that each do 12442412 damage, etc. that you will be able to avoid everything, as any character... let alone a melee character.
And thus far, Inferno has not been beaten. Impossible? Probably not. Extremely hard? Certainly.
That inferno spoiler spider sounds good, but still people it didnt show the SK damage as 170k , it was a reg monster in act4 that hit for 170k. You get to act 4 your gear is going to be pretty good by then. SK beta when he spun around almost 1 shot people with no gear.

Those normal mode numbers are accurate as of previous beta patches. They're not made up.
Brady has been releasing these guides for years. They made not be 100% correct because of later changes, but those numbers will be damn close.

Until you know those numbers, you cannot say that a fight is impossible.

Extremely loving it? Definitely.
