I have noticed a lot of negative feedback concerning the dialogue and voice acting in D3, but I enjoyed it. It could be that it's just me, I guess I'm the exception to the rule.
Occasionally good, but overall the general quest voice acting is less than awesome. Also a bit annoyed that most of these video games recently seem to thing EVERYONE sounds like they're from the UK. Its well and good for a few chars here and there, but for example Amalur, SWTOR and now many of the voices in the beta, all english/scottish/UKish in general accents. Its silly, aren't there any non UK voice actors willing to work on video games?
It's fine. Sometimes it's a little over the top (Templar) or cheesy (Skeleton King: "Yoou will never defeat meee!" As if every other villain in the world hasn't said that already). The Templar himself has kinda become a running joke with his crazy lines.

JONDAAAAH.
The voice acting is bad.... BUT THE WILL OF THE TEMPLAR IS STRONGER!!!
I actually really like the Templars voice acting, Specifically the absurd over-exaggerated pronounciations. JONDAHHHHH,
Although he sounds kind of creepy sometimes like a serial killer (Which i guess he was once a criminal, maybe we'll find out he actually IS a murderer). As for other voice acting, Some of it does sound silly, but not nearly as bad as other voice acting i've seen in other games (In the blizzard world, nothings as bad as WoW voice acting and SC2 script writing). I think diablo sits at a fine line of ok.jpg.
some of the dialogue could use a little work, I understand its supposed to be mideival based and all, but for instance the barbs "You can not defeat me" could easily be shortened for the less awkward sounding, "You can't defeat me!". There's several lines in the game i've heard like this that sound a little redundant. Also, As said above, the lich k-er the SKELETON kings "YOU WILL NEVER DEFEAT ME!" is pretty damn cliche, every time I hear it I facepalm.. cmon now, this is diablo.. what happened to the complex boss lines? "Looking for Baal?", "YOU'RE TOO LATE! HAHAHA", "My brothers will not have died in vain!" or the infamous "NOT EVEN DEATH CAN SAVE YOU FROM ME!"
But really..?! "YOU WILL NEVER DEFEAT ME"?! it's so simple.. bland.. CLICHE! Sigh.. </endrant>
but other then that I guess im satisfied with this game, apart from the wonky rune/skill system.
So far, from what I've experienced in the beta, I love it. Blizzard has done great with fitting the characters with the right voices IMO. All except the Templar.. Dear God I hate the Templar. Maybe it's 'cause I've played the beta so much already. Maybe it's because all his skills suck with a passion or maybe, JUST MAYBE, it's the fact that he deals fuck all damage, yet somehow has the nerve to consistently insist that "the will of a Templar is stronger". What a douchebag follower.
But yeah, I like the rest
I have to admit, when I first heard the Templar's lines I laughed. After hearing them over and over, it can be a bit annoying. But still, the voice acting is good enough for a game like this.

But bad is both literal and figurative foe of voice acting!
I'm not too upset but god The SK voice I hate, It's layered but the most prominent one sounds as if there's a human speaking. He's and undead woken by magic make him sound like it. I don't just wanna hear a deep voice subtly in the back. The templar annoys me but then again I can say GTFO if I want.

Sure, it's cliche, if you're not the Skeleton King. Blame the others that overused it to hell. If ANYONE should be saying it, it's the Skeleton King. And it is true, he'll never be 'defeated'. He's a skeleton and has no 'life' to begin with. But I get where you're coming from.
Being the fanboy that I am I really like what I've heard so far. The Templar is over the top and I like it that way. We haven't seen much of his lines since we've only been to 1/20th of the game or so but I'm very pleased so far.
The Skeleton King on the hand is indeed kind of bland. The only line of his I've liked so far is the "All will suffer, as I have suffered!" which he says as if it's part of some badass metalcore song. Just imagine it with growling and guitars in the background. Sounds great in my head.
But Lachdanan makes up for it. It's good that he's the one being used to tell the tale of the SK as well. "No man has a greater love to his king than I had for mine, even as I drove my blade through his dark and corrupted heart". Reminds me very much of Falric (HoR), which is in my opinion one of Blizz's better voice acting. "Man... women... and children. None were spared the master's wrath". Beautiful lines from both of them. Well crafted story, brings atmosphere. That's just my opinion of course.
The only english voice acting I heard in the last decade are the occasional anime/JRPG dubs (and only bits cos I can't stand much of it) so I can safely say D3 voice acting is one of the best things I've ever heard.
You haven't heard bad till you sit through some JRPG/Anime dubs.

JONDAAAAH.
I thought the Templar's voice / lines were quite fitting for an over zealous religious knight. They were over the top and made me laugh... but come a harder difficulty *crosses fingers* they might actually warrant his over enthusiasm :P.
Over all I thought the voice acting was pretty dang good. Not Bioware good, but easily passable.

I felt the same way, Templar is supposed to be hardcore to the max and his voice overs don't disappoint.
Not a fan of the Skeleton King either, his first "The power of the fallen star awakened me!" yeah, thanks for the redundant explanation dickhead. The never defeat me line is pretty silly too. Almost seems like Jeremy Irons is voicing him in that regard. I really liked the Skeleton Kings line in Diablo 1 quite a bit more, his voice was much more inhuman, hollow and metallic almost. Like has been mentioned earlier he sounds a bit too corporeal for my taste.
But really its that first line that bugs me, about the fallen star. I think it would be much more visceral experience if he were silent, just have him materialize, stare at you, have Cain be all scared, then fade away while summoning his host. If I were to encounter a spirit in real life and it was all "the power of your imagination has awakened me!" I'd pretty much be like cool, lets be friends. If it just stared at me then disappeared I'd find it to be a much more jarring experience.
Of course I understand the need for dialogue in a fantasy video game as well, its not going to ruin my fun.
I like most of the voice acting, but some of the journals/diaries you can find sound weird to me. It feels very forced the way they are speaking in some and doesn't sound right to me at all. Maybe it's just me though, I have heard them all so many times.
Eh, I really didn't take to the "Betrayal can never be forgiven line." I seriously thought that it was Jondar saying that the first time because the tone was so menacing. Seemed very untemplarlike to me, I mean, if vengeance is your thing, and his tone screams vengeance more than anything else to me, then the Three have a great contract they'd like to run by you
I dont like it very much... Somes are ok, somes over the top and some others seem not enough "motivated". A game I've replayed recently : Titan Quest. I realy like the voice acting of this game.

Edit: For sp
Generally, the voice acting could be better. Gone are the days of Diablo 1, I guess. Compare DI Leoric and DIII Leoric...
