I could have sworn I'd read a patch note, a blue post, SOMETHING recently that discussed fixing gear items like these:
In both cases, one of the affixes is wasted because only certain classes properly benefit from certain stats. An item shouldn't have strength AND dexterity on it, that's just silly. I thought that this was addressed... but I keep seeing it happen. I'm I making it up? Maybe it was an internal build fix that never made it into a beta patch?
There is no rule that all rare items have to be perfectly itemized. The bad ones make you appreciate the good ones. Melt the crap, wear the good stuff. If you don't like what you have, go kill more mobs.

Why shouldn't it? Dexterity gives you dodge change... int gives you resistances.... str gives you armor.
Even if thats not your primary stat... you STILL get a benefit yo.
I know that you still get SOME benefit from them. I also do not expect all items to be perfectly itemized. The question was, didn't they make a change so that you did not get two conflicting primary stats on the same piece of loot?
WAIT - maybe I'm thinking of something else. Is it possible that they disallowed the ability for, say, +3 to Fury (Barbarian) and +5 to Arcane Power (Wizard) on the same item? That must be it, because you get zero benefit from those, at least the primary stats are doing something.

Now, that I could see, because that would be pretty much a waste if you're not that class.

No, those are not primary. You're thinking of the days before strength, dexterity and intelligence. Back when they had things like precision and attack or something similar to that. There were awkward combinations of attributes that didn't quite make sense.

@Upgradez I could've faceplanted on the keyboard and still killed everything in act 1.

Still no, but almost. They made it so class specific items, such as wands, would only spawn with Wizard skills and not say Barb (since Barb's obviously can't use wands).

They corrected that, so that only stats that applied for the specific class would appear on the class specific items.
I'm guessing that is what you are thinking of, because it was pretty recent.
