I'm not in the beta and I haven't seen any videos that show this in game. I just started D2 again to kill time until D3 and I love this feature. Will it be in d3?

If you're talking about like having Gheed's function in the game, i haven't seen it in beta or even heard of it. But like the guy above said, crafting is pretty much like gambling

The crafting system is a replacement for the gambling system in Diablo 2.
Gambling was well worth it for average rares and good for uniques until they eliminated the possibility to get them. Gold was so useless for anything else.
In Diablo 3 the crafting system is significantly more robust then d2. It replaces most of what d2 gambling brought to the table. You could choose item type by looking at the graphic in d2 gambling. The biggest differences between gambling in D2 and crafting in D3 are no chance of uniques in d3 when choosing a magic recipe and you are guaranteed rare item rather then just having a chance at it. It is also easier to choose the type of item you want. In d2 you would have to open and close the gambling window until the item type you wanted showed up.
I will miss gambling, but mostly for nostalgia I think. With the newer robust crafting system in place a gambling npc would add very little to your choices of how to spend gold. I understand why gambling will not be available in d3.
Am I the only one who NEVER used the gambling feature in D2? Was it worth it at all?
I liked it, i doubt it was worth anything for softcore characters except for amulets and some rings, but it was great for HC characters to get some OK gear.
Only difference between the crafting in D3 and the gambling in D2 is that you can eliminate the chance to get a white item, besides that the system are quite similar.

It wasn't worth it after LOD came out. In D2 pre-expansion you could get soj's relatively easily if you were wearing good gear. They changed this once expansion came around. Otherwise i never saw a point to it cept to talk to my man Gheed who was an interesting feller.

I think they should add a gambling system (with crazy prices like in diablo 2)
