"I'm aware of internal bets on how manymonths it will take someone to beat Inferno."
Bashiok says months, ppl say one week, and i lol. It's ok to say you'll beat the next WOW content in a week (including heroic 25 last boss), but Diablo has really low %drops, loot is NEVER a given (and by loot i mean useful stuff)
That's a great point, There are plenty of loot drops throughout the game, but there's so many different stat combinations for each item. With some bad luck, you could go a significant amount of time without finding something good.
Ill probably take normal slow, 2 days tops to complete it. Just to get the lore and quests and general relaxing feel of Diablo down, waited 10+ years for this shit I am not gonna blow through it ha. After normal however, it is all redundant so that will be when I start blowing through shit till I beat inferno then I can take it easy again.
Comedy gold. It certainly keeps the thread interesting.
NOt sure, but I think I will be able to do it in month or so,but with help of party, not alone I guess.Maybe Inferno is not finishable alone,it needs to be done with party.
Inferno will be completely soloable, and in most cases that will be your best bet unless your entire party is equally or better geared than you =D
I put 2-3 months for myself, because lately I have not had any time left in the week to game (stupid work, why can't stuff be free)
As far as when the world first Inferno completion....I say 2 weeks, a month tops. We don't have any idea on exactly how difficult it will be, but if you break it down we can make some pretty good educated guesses.
First, what can they do to make the end game hard? They can either make the monsters hit really hard, have lots of hit points, use certain abilities (fast movement, stuns, etc) that are hard to avoid or overcome, or any combination of those three.
1)For monsters hitting hard the obvious answer is try not to get hit. Player skill is the factor in this, as I can see Demon Hunters and Wizards overcoming this obstacle if played by very talented individuals with the abundance of "get out of dodge" abilities they have(sorry monks and barbs, you are screwed on this one).
2)Massive amounts of hitpoints are overcome with gear. You can dodge every attack, but if each of your hard hitting shots are only doing 1% of the mobs hit points you are going to have a bad time. Gear can be farmed pretty easily, but it's time consuming. And exactly how much needs to be farmed before you can start to clear Inferno in a reasonable amount of time? This one I can see adding time to completion, although I would think it would be a pretty lame approach to increasing the difficulty.
3)The last one is hard to quantify. In D3 it isn't like a standard MMO where there are "gear checks" needed when you raid, and if you aren't at a certain gear threshold you need not apply. You don't stand there and exchange blows while a healer tops you off. It's all about mechanics as a previous poster said. Mechanics alone can be learned, and as long as you can not stand in fire and play green light/red light when you are supposed to mechanics can be overcome. This mostly boils down to skill, although it's probably safe to assume that there are some mechanics that aren't meant to be avoided, and you will take damage (which gear helps with).
With 2 of the 3 scenarios mostly relying on player skill what that tells me is a moderately geared character in the hands of a very skilled player should be able to do this in 2-4 weeks. Blizzard has tried numerous times to throw impossible and technical fights at players, and although only .5% of the playerbase could do it, they were shown it could still be done by a select dedicated few.
I actually doubt I'll ever get round to completing Inferno. I'll probably play solo (no loot sharing with friends) and won't use the RMAH. I won't grind eternally for loot or gold to buy loot on the AH. I'll love the game, enjoy it immensely but I hope I'm not good enough to beat it.
I'm not a hardcore gamer, if I complete Inferno then it's not hard enough.
are you kidding? loot sharing? that doesn't exist in Diablo iii. RMAH does suck. not want to complete a game? what? who are you? dog?

Under 2 Weeks - my goal.
What concerns Blizzards internal bet how many months it will take - I say they dont have as dedicated or World class players to judge on that There are thousands of determined and highly skilled players who will beat content so fast, heads will spin. Some even will have support cast, helping to fight for the World first. Inferno will be cleared in less than a week, mark my words.
to add to this, if there are some exploits that have been found in beta and not exploited / shown publicly and blizzard hasn't found / fixed it themselves, I could theoretically see inferno cleared in under 48 hours from release. Legitimate or not, it might happen.
Wouldn't it make more sense to talk about how many HOURS it will take?
I mean, depending on whether or not a player has a job, wife, girlfriend, kids etc,... what the hell does 1 month mean?
1 month for me would mean about 60 hours. For others (without any commitments), a month could mean 450+ hours.
If someone who can play 450+ hours a month can finish it in 2 months, that will take me almost a year and a half.
This thread doesn't really make any sense to me at all. I am very curious to know how long it will take to finish Inferno, but this thread tells me nothing.

No thread would tell you how much time
This is just about how much time do you think it will take YOU to finish it, if youre a casual just vote 3+months that is totally fine. The purpose is too see if people underestimated inferno or over estimated it.

the solution! each person post what they think they're average played each day would be, then you can compare relative gamers to what they estimate themselves at.

It depends on what class I'm really hooked with past level 13. So Far I'm a big fan of the WD but the monk is a close second with it's supportive role and quick attacks. All the classes look so much fun and I will most likely play different characters/classes at different times. So not sure how long it will take me to beat inferno.
It might be near impossible for an average player According to Jay's tweet. 'has any internal testers beaten inferno?' 'No' he replied.
Still will be a great challenge and I hope they don't change it.
i imagine it will take me quite a damn while. why you ask? im going to be playing a hardcore char pretty exclusively. im not going to go back and farm unless absolutely nessesary. i plan on dieing but hope i dont :D. seeing how no one ecen knows how difficult the game (even from the start) will be and seeing how blizz will want their game to have longevity to up profits on the rmah i cant even imagine how long it will take me, but i do know one thing.... its going to be awesome 8D
