You won't. You're going to die, a lot, and you're going to have a horrible character for quite a while. You're not going to hit 60 and finish the game on Inferno. You're going to be smashing your face against Act 1 Inferno for weeks. Perfecting your build before then will not matter.
In my own personal opinion, it's Diablo. If you can't find a workable build without having your own perfect choices being handed to you on a silver platter at the start of the game, good luck in Inferno. Actually, good luck in Nightmare. This game is hard.
Over and over, this is something they have restated, that Diablo 3 will be brutal. That you will die plenty, and that demons will be feeding on your virgin nerd tears for months to come.
I cannot tell you how happy I am about this! A game without serious challenges is a boring game.
However, I am really concerned about something specific: the dreaded "casual gamer community". It's big, and when they are displeased, they come in numbers. A good example would be how easy WoW has become under the pressure of this community during WoTLK.
I am literally afraid for Diablo 3 that, because it will be a hard game, same thing will happen to it, and Blizzard will yet again, succumb to the will of the casual player masses, thus making the game easy.
Of course easy, is a relative term, what's easy for you might be very difficult for me, and vice versa. However, when everyone agrees that the game is hard - then in my opinion, is when the game will be great.
I wish Diablo 3 stays like this for years to come, feeding on the tears of the unsuspecting.
Well I'll be the first to drop blizzard from my already dwindling list of trusted gaming companies if they bitch out on this game too. I mean they said its hard, they know people want it to be hard, so if they go back on that I'm gonna be pissed.
The title made me instantly envision you as Halle Berry in Monster Ball, "Can you make me feel GOOD!?"
lol! Well remember how hard the ubers were in Diablo 2? Unless you had a smiter, you were pretty much screwed! I hope inferno isn't class specific or build specific in order to be successful (like the ubers), but I hope it's a challenge! Challenge accepted!
Ok, ok, well I don't underestimate our players, potentially not weeks for Act 1. I'd bet on weeks for Act 2, though.
Does it mean that Act2 will be much longer than Act1 or tougher? Interesting...
That's a very odd (and worrying) statement considering their design philosophy was to have all Acts the same difficulty in Inferno... does this mean that is not the case?
With all this hype about Inferno, I feel like they're just setting everyone up for disappointment. I've learned from WoW not to take the developers word for anything though.
I won't be surprised if it's either A) So hard that it's unfair and not fun (i.e. getting 1 shot) or B.) Not as hard as they say and just Hell+.
It's such a fine line... it won't be easy to pull off. I'm really hoping they do though! About 2 months until we find out!
Regarding Bashiok's statement it may be smth of kind that Act 1 is less tough but drops are more rare and act 2 is tougher but drops are more common. This way after an hour of playing both acts will give you the same amount of drops but you will move faster through act 1 than 2.
This ^ ofc can only work till you get a great items when any act will go with very similar speed and you will be forced to grind only act 4. It's not probably a problem while expansions roll out but after the last expansion shows, they'd better make difficulty really equal throughout all acts or Inferno will be a fail. I won't be playing till then I suppose. Titan and such may win me over (I'm kinda social).

It probably be A until you have the stuff for it to become B. That's how difficulty in RPGs works.
I'm pretty sure its hard, they want the hardcore fans to be satisfied and at the same time increasing the length of the game.
Well some people will clean Inferno in the first months, either by exploiting or just playing A LOT. But I'm quite confident people from this forum (which are supposedly above average) will have a very hard time in Inferno until they have enough stuff.

I really hope he's just talking about length.
He's saying he knows the Blizzard community for their games eats up the content as fast as inhumanly possible. So he's basically saying there will probably be SOMEONE who finishes Act 1 faster than they're betting (i.e. weeks). The majority of us will take a lot longer, though.

They already changed that, its in another thread. Each act in inferno progresses in difficulty, just like the rest.

One is never hurt by being given additional choices, only by taking them away. A QUADRILLION MAGIC FIND is worthless if you can't kill shit!
