On a side note, do you think they will have a massive build up to it (release date announcement) or do you think it might but appear on the website, no hype or building up with cryptic posts and lame messages?

Super Cop! He knows where you live, he knows where you sleep.
.. that's probably why you see these lines every week.
Never saw it with mw3... bf3....
Its a new era of gaming right now.
You'd think they'd have muzzled any statements that can be misconstrued
.. but I could see how continued questions, interpretations and hassling from its massive fan base would get on your tits..
So it begs the question why not just release something solid so everyone isn’t raising expectations every week and being disappointed in a week so they dont hassle and mis-interperate things.
If in Jan they had of said June 2012 release date get ready, the atmosphere and respect for Blizzard would be at an ALL time high at the moment.. because we'd be counting down and drooling for it.
At the moment people are just lost and jacked off and sick of waiting for nothing.
Who actually sets the dates is it PR or Development?
Neither. It's the finance dpt hand in hand with its marketing branch (marketing presents good targets, then one is chosen).
PR is more about "when is the announcement" of the date fixed by the marketing/finance department.
In both case Developers have absolutly no say. As much as we would love to make Wilson responsible, once his job is over and the game is ready to ship he has 0 power on what comes next. And well the people responsible are absolutely unknown to the public.
In conclusion: If date is fixed and game is finished, stop hassling Jay Wilson poor guy cannot do shit.
the problem here is not their politically correct phrases of release date(they don't want to get sued or what ever if they say a date and can't make it - and by that fall to pressure and politics) - it's the fact they share their development process with their fans - and cuz of that ppl get excited and hyped and technically "know" whats going on with the game - which gives the fans "some" power over the development.
the question is whats better? never know a thing about the game and get it when it released or be some what involved in the development and by that getting frustrated cuz of the delays.
sadly i don't have an answer for that question - both situations got advantages and disadvantages and it comes down to personnel preference for every fan out there.
they can't please every1 and they believe it's important for the fans to know whats going on - so u guys can blame their philosophy on that aspect but they r trying their best and i respect their decision - which shows they do care about their fan base and the fan base opinions.
trying to bring a different perspective on the discussion - hopefully i helped.
Amazing how antagonistic people can be towards blizzard. Do you not think they're human or something, since you attribute such malice as intentionally 'just leading people on' with 'apparently' empty words to them? Turning out to be wrong about a projected date is not the same as lying about a projected date.
By your logic, I can still fire someone if they aren't making deadlines on time. I don't care if they are human, demon or an alien, you need to handle your gosh-darn responsibilities!
I'm not trolling either. If you have a job, try not coming into work for a week then call your boss and say "Sorry I haven't been in all week! I'm only human!" Let me know how that goes. *rolls eyes*

Mate,
Lets agree to disagree!
We'll let our feelings decide each other in a duel to the death in the Diablo III arena.
..... when that will be .... clearly no one has a F****KEN idea!
The title of this thread shows my point
JAY:
"You’ll know as soon as I know for sure the exact date."
JAY:
''you'll know as soon as I'm allowed to say. And no, I'm not allowed to say when that is.''
For a manager to say something like, even if it is trivial its still bad practice.
I think you're right.
