Wow weird how this idea didn't crossed my mind so far, this would be so awesome to see, would be nice if someone would want to make it, i mean they make such a craps of movies lately from story that are zero. This could be really something refreshing/fun to watch, great idea for movie !
If there was ever a Diablo film with real actors (as I would MUCH prefer a feature length 90-120min cutscene quality animated movie) then I really hope that they use mostly unknown actors. You may wonder why, but there are several reasons:
A lot of famous names are used for the 'star vehicle approach' where the film is marketed with the big star names to help entice people in. With a company name like Blizzard, a franchise like Diablo and all the hype and expectation that goes with both (be it good or bad), there should be little need for lots of big star names to help drive to film sales, only to entice the non-gamer general public into going to see it too.
My main issue is that Hollywood stars these days get heavily typecast and tend to act in niches with a particular style. This means you end up seeing the actor instead of the character, and greatly reduces any immersion. It also means the character can sometimes be twisted to match the actor instead of the other way round. I get seriously fed up with Americans being cast to play Brits (insert other nationality as you will) and then making an embarrassment of themselves trying to do an accent (especially regional British accents). In my mind, if they want a girl with a Yorkshire accent, hire one!
To me, Arnie is Conan and always will be. Jason Mamoa is a good actor and talented fighter, but the huge beefy body builder look of Arnie fits Conan much better. That's the exact look that would fit the D3 Barbarian - and in my mind the actors should try to look as close (body type, attitude, mvoement etc rather than face) to the D3 representation of the in game characters as possible or it probably wouldn't feel right.
And damn right, I'm a pedantic , miserable sod with a stick up his ass, but I love the Diablo franchise and would hate to see it ruined with a cash cow film filled with highly paid famous people that don't fit the parts.
And why has no one put Sean Bean as the Templar yet?! Such an obvious choice, and he'd kick ass!

Been looking for a barb. Needs to be big, but also old, and needs to be able to look tired of battle, but still determined and angry. Also needs to look good in an epic white beard. Couldn't find anybody big enough, but Mickey Rourke is a badass actor and he fits it better than anybody else I saw.
Maggie Q for Wizard.
Kate Beckinsale is the obvious Demon Hunter.
Sidney Poitier as the Witch Doctor.
I've got no monk. I'm on the he-shouldn't-be-asian train though. His creative background is what makes him cool.
