The idea is to have pets up all the time, a bit like the Zoomancer of D2, and have ton of abilities to reinforce the pets. Also Mass Confusion and couple dot spells for personal damage, the pets can't do everything now can they Runes also mostly to reinforce the pets and slow down some enemies.
This build focuses mostly on bunching mobs together than Aoeing them down as efficiently as possible, while also have some defense to stay alive through all the damage the mobs can dish out to you.
1) Exploding palm + Essence burn rune
The main point of having essence burn is that you can chain the fire damage if a mob die's and spreads the fire dot to nearby mobs. But you need to keep mobs close to each other for this to chain properly.
2) Dashing strike + Soaring skull rune
This is where dashing strike comes into play its a gap closer, and the soaring skull rune slows down all mobs in your path for 2seconds. So if they try to escape from the group after a gap they are slowed and will get hit by essence burn.
3) Blinding flash + Blind and confuse rune
Blinding flash comes into play as another way of keeping mobs bunched up if your kick misses or doesnt hit everyone in your selected group and as a defensive cool down. Also the rune blind + confused can get mobs to kill one another setting of more essence burns.
4)Mantra of healing + boon of protection
This is your main mantra to keep your health up as much as possible and also adds a small absorb shield for more defense.
5) Way of the hundred fist + fist of fury
This is another main spirit generator after exploding palms essence burn effect is applied, u can apply another dot from fist of fury. Thus adding more aoe damage to the group and helping in setting off more essence burns.
6)cyclone strike + wall of wind
This is your main spirit dump as a monk and can pack some punch. The wall of wind rune was added for another defensive cooldown for when there is just too many mobs. Another good synchronization on cyclone strike is that it again helps bring in mobs closer together for essence burn to take full effect and be set off more times.
7) Passive skills
1) Resolve is there so that your taking less damage overall from all the big groups of mobs you'll be gathering up.
2) The Gaurdians Path gives great survivability regardless if your duel wielding or going with a 2 hander
3)Transcendence Gives our Cyclone strike ability a chance to become a big heal every time it is cast. It also has great synchronism with The guardians path, since it gives new a good advantage for using 2 handers. Since generating more spirit equals to more cyclone strikes and more heals to keep one alive longer
Summary: My build is focused on staying alive, so there are many skills runed for life steal. There are also 2 skills for mana regeneration (spiritual Attunement & Locust Swarm). My build also tend to support summonables: fetish army, zombie dogs, since they keep your enemies at range, so you can easily take them down.
He is equipped with multiple defensive abilities for him and his teammates, able to move quickly around the battlefield to disable opponents attacking more vulnerable allies, and protecting them from harm. And he is still able to deal considerable damage.

Disabling enemies: Dashing Strike with the Flying Side Kick rune Seven-sided Strike with the Pandemonium rune Crippling Wave with the Concussion rune
Mitigating Damage dealt to self and allies: Crippling Wave with the Concussion rune Serenity with the Tranqualiy rune Mantra of Healing with the Time of Need rune Near Death Experience passive One with Everything passive
And finally, dealing some damage with: Way of the hundred fists with Fists of Fury rune Seven-sided Strike with the Pandemonium rune Combination Strike passive
This build is focused on slowing enemies by traps and shots, while enabling you to run away thanks to Strafe. If you get hit it is no problem, because Broodng will heal you back until they manage to hit you again. Cull of the Weak is a Must for this build.

i choosen this build becouse i a fun way to play. beeing able to do some tons of dmg while not ecpecialy needed to stay stil whole the time with my fire vault and a turret with chains of torment. (c'mon who dosent like awsome turrets)
its all especialy AOE builded due to the alot of aoe packs.
my passives are all about usefullness. i just like a way to heal myzelf off combat without haveing to collect all thos heath globes and doing shit loads of dmg, and ofc. why not maximaise my haterd (something i wil use alot )
Main focus is on "Electrocute" skill used as chain lighting with enhanced damage.
Ever since Diablo 1 i have loved chain lightning, especially when having a Warrior who then read the CL books, was total fun. (Even though there was a level cap).
Secondary focus is on the "Arcane Torrent" as these projectiles remind me of the defense system in Stargate Atlantis hehe.
Other skills are for crowd control and fun with Ice etc :o)
This is a fun PVE build aimed for balance of defense and offense with a twist! Each spell is a different element covering the bases of fire, frost, arcane, lightning, poison, and physical type. The frost is to cover the armor with some health regen seemed pretty all around nice. Fire from the familiar to give me a damage buff with another passive glass cannon adding to the sexiness. Poison hydra aimed for damage when kiting targets. Wave of force with knockback and stun letting me then have range to start shooting disintergrate at a safe distance. And electrocute for some good ol' zap zap to the mix. I think I will at least try this build but I thought hey why not have every damage/element type at my convienance.
I tried to style my witch doctor after moses. Unfortunately i couldnt represent all the plagues but here is what i got, So the locust and toads are obvious, acid cloud symbolizes the hail and lightning plague, haunt symbolises the darkness and death plagues, Zombie dogs symbolises the infected livestock plague and the firebomb with pyrogeist symbolises the pillar of fire god sent down from heaven. With my passive spells i just picked them to add a little bit extra to my moses doctor.
