Questions for those of you out there in Beta, if you dont mind answering.
How many sounds carry over or are simular in nature to the ones used in D2?
Whats the ambience like, when you just stop in a random spot do you hear much in the way of ambient sounds? if so what do you hear?
How do you rate the atmosphere (granted there is only a small % of the game being tested atm)? (i know the answers will vary from person to person)
In your opinion is/are any sound(s) used too often?
Reason for asking a guy at work claims to have Beta access and he said it was lacking atmosphere and the sounds were "a bit bleh" SO just asking as this guy has on occasion told a few tall stories, and yeah even if he is telling porkie pies the questions stand so please any answers would be appreciated.

Super Cop! He knows where you live, he knows where you sleep.
As long as we get to hear "Ahhh, fresh meat..." just once (after all this time), I'll be a happy player sound-wise
Now seriously, from what I've seen of ambient sounds, there's an earie music early in the game, and after the action starts, it almost never stops, so for most of the game, you're hearing how skill and monster specific growls and death sounds, as well as character dialogue (there's also sounds for opening chests, loot falling on the ground, shrines, level up, movement skills). So I believe that music can only be heard if you're not doing anything in the game (it's really a background music).
Even walking around through Tristram, you can see that people will talk between themselves, so that's the "main sound" you can hear when doing things there. Blacksmithing/crafting items also has that traditional "metalic" sound.

Hmm, not really, the barbarian's meaty attack sounds could maybe grate on your nerves after a while but they do make his attacks feel good. Have only just started a demon hunter and haven't tried WD yet so can't comment on their SFX yet. General ambience sound effects, like I say it's quite subtle, so none of the sounds really felt like it was repeating to me.
I'd like to add that there's only a small portion of all the offensive skills available in the beta (and generally speaking, most of the beta players choose one and stick to it, like Cleave, or say Deadly Reach for the Monk which also has "explosive" sound effects), so that might cause people to get tired of them. Once a Barbarian is at level 20-25 (which I assume wouldn't be that far away) with a lot more skills available (each with its own sfx) I'm sure that won't be an issue.
