Is it the the people who try real hard and enter every contest? Is it the people who come into the community and have good manners and a nice personality? Is it the die hard fans who have done nothing else but played diablo since diablo one's release? I heard its reserved only for the friends of friends and continuing only in that direction. Is it only the people with talent that put their talents out there relating to diablo to catch the attention of admin who posses keys? What does it really take from one to get noticed for a beta key, without actually being a friend of a friend, or have talents of drawing nice portraits. What of those who just really want it? Or those who really deserve it? How can anyone tell who really deserves a key? Please let me know.
No one deserves a key and there's no way to actively seek it unless you're talented in the arts. You just get lucky. I got lucky a couple weeks after the beta came out due to sheer luck.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
My place really was here. I was too foolish and stubborn to notice. But, what I truly hoped for then was here. Why do I always realize it When I've already lost it.

I think your right to a degree, it is luck. But without putting yourself out there in some sort of way there is no option of luck even available. What is your story of luck?
You opt in, and you will be chosen at random. But to be more realistic, you probably won't.
Alternatively, you can repeatedly press F5 on Facebook for the *trivia contest.
* Disclaimer: Trivia contest is a pretty misleading name, and it would have almost the same effect if the winners were simply the first five people to reply with anything.

Ill just try to get the community interacting with eachother in hopes that someone see's im participating in a productive manner. I have been opt in since announced, nothing much else i can really do i suppose.
You sign up for the opt-in, you lurk around for contests from fansites and you try and behave and get good grades in the community. I myself got one from "the community" though I'm not even well mannered, at least I don't think I am. Even so, I try and be informative and keep the sarcasm only for situations where I can't directly insult people due to rules on the forums.
Not gonna talk about my key because I'm not even sure I'm allowed to... but a friend got his simply because he was well respected on a commonly known fansite. The admin just kind thought about him and said "man, you really deserve a key. The Beta can benefit from your presence there", and voila.
Just stick around such places and be constructive. See what people talk about and always research first, because, at least on these forums, people know 98.9% of everything about this game. When you get to that level I'm sure you'll be well respected as well. And that only increases your chances. Being original while not so knowledgeable is also a good way to go, but that's kinda rare. At some point people will just accept that you should be one of the Chosen. :]
Being part of the community is always a great thing!

I will be honest -- I knew about the key contest on these forums, but I don't really know the specific requirements. But I registered and post here anyway because I already have an account I can play on, and this way I get to come around and talk about Diablo.

Thank your for your optimism im just happy people are actually taking the time to post in this thread and give advice. I hope to get to know more of you, and the people here who are taking the time to share words. I for one am not going anywhere, so people can just start learning to get use to me. I might be new member to this site, but i have been apart of the diablo community for decades, also on both jsp sites.
Recently I stopped lurking on the site and started joining in on conversations.
Then, when they announced the beta contests, I figured I'd be a little more active on the forums.. But I didn't have the stomach to deal with the facebook/twitter routes. Then a couple of days ago, I had kind of given up. Instead of posting on random threads, I only posted on one or two a day that really interested me - like this one. Threads where I could type up a decent post that was more than a single idea.
I even started a couple of threads that I thought would for sure turn into flame wars - despite being actual topics for thought. Much to my amazement, the community here kept the discussions largely positive and on topic.. Topics which I explained my thoughts and reasoning to make sure it didn't seem as though I was trolling.
Then today, I log on to a private message with a key. A key I'm very thankful for, and one I intend to use very often for it's purpose ; helping to fine tune the beta.
To show my thanks, Diablofans has earned my loyalty. I intend to be a member of this community for a very long time, and to be as constructive as I can with my time here.
Basically, just act like an adult on the forums. Make meaningful posts, participate in conversations and hope for the best.
Like I've been saying for the past week or two now, we'll all be playing soon. Just stay positive.

Congrats on your key man, this story gives me hope because i have had the same mindset of participation on interesting threads. I dont have a facebook or twitter because i cant stand social sites. In my opinion there is more flaming sarcasm on there then on here. This site does have a positive aura about it that i would of never assumed possible.
ya this thread has boosted my hope i was about this close to giving up : /. I hope to be an ongoing member (was just a person who just read this forums posts before but now active) and contributing to the threads. Kind of a shame that the european contests are impossible to read though i tried joining a swedish site and then was kicked out .... doesnt sound to fair comparitivly when they can join NA contests but thats just me complaining im very happy with diablo fans and in all i think they have the best beta giveaways keep it up!

This is the right attitude to have. I too hate Facebook and Twitter for the same reasons. The lack of immaturity on this site is what finally brought me from the shadows to actually posting here.

Glad to see you decided to stick around! There is always hope, diablofans is reasonable in my opinion and they have also caught blizzards attention so it must be really legitimate. A production company as big as blizzard would not give a site keys/respect their opinions unless it was for good reason.
