I'd imagine the point of low level uniques would be to use then if you find them at a low level, and when you're done, put them up at a reasonable price so that someone else rolling an alt can use it before they too hands it down through the auction house
keep thinking you will be able to use a lvl 5 unique to craft your lvl 60 legendary bow...
Let me know when you come back to reality.
Sigh I've been out trolled.
Seriously dude you don't have many people back in your corner. I never said anything about using an item for crafting, try reading my posts. Not everyone will be progressing at the same time at the same rate, newer players or "casuals" will buy low level gear to fill what gaps they have till they find something. Twinking low levels is possible for PvP as well, yes people will PvP at certain level if they choose to. Just like D2 I sold my low level unique because they weren’t needed anymore, this is no different. Give it a rest.
There are countless posts expressing how bad the current system is when it comes to player choice and commitment. Look around and you will see tons of threads, not just on this website, about people despising the current lack of Build commitment and specialization of all classes with no more then a 15 second cooldown on changing spells.
Do you read the posts you quote? What you respond with has nothing to do with anything anyone's talking about, nor does it have to do with the topic.
I agree 100%. I am fearful that, with the current skill/runeskill set up, I'll be playing a few of the classes to 60, then item hunt of a few weeks before loosing interest. From what is visible right now, there is 0 depth in the game. What a shame...
why do people think forcing ppl to re-roll is "depth".... lmao

Keep in mind that many uniques in D2 had amazing properties that would be incredible if they could be transformed into exceptional/elite versions of their normal counterpart.
Oh, wait, that did happen. Who's to say there won't be an NPC later on outside the first 40 minutes of Act 1 that will have the same functionality as those cube recipes?
Aside from that, there is the AH as mentioned, which I personally will invest a lot of time(and gold) into so I can be as amazing as possible at every level.
And if those aren't good enough reasons, well.. weapons I can understand, but there are some items as armor that are still godly at endgame, for specific builds and purposes. Think Bloodfist, think Nightsmoke (50% damage to mana is powerful when needed), think Tarnhelm.
Finally, there is always low level dueling. There is a very strong community of LLD'ers in D2, which goes as low as level 9.
So, I wouldn't be worried about what to do with those items.
This is the main reason I only play hc... EVERY item seems much more valuable and important than in softcore. Just one low level unique item can keep your character alive if its a good one.
There is no point in re-rolling, no need to keep low lvl uniques once ur high lvl. Low lvl uniques are there to help u through the games and diablo players love to search for better gears. I'm not staying around lower lvls to search for low lvl uniques. Move on
Back when I played diablo 2 I loved farming for low lvl uniques so I could twink out my new characters I created to try NEW and INTERESTING builds. So If I found a unique wand on my necromancer but it was useless to me at my current level, I would be content knowing I could give it to the next necro I made( maybe a bone, poison necro). Thats just one example low lvl uniques were so cool when they were found. They seemed to have a purpose.
Now fast forward to D3. I can change my skills anytime I want every 15 seconds, I have no reason to EVER reroll the same class (unless I want a difference sex...). So if , for example, I find a really cool low level unique Mighty belt(barbarian only) but I already have a barbarian then this belt is pointless to me...
Anyway, I find it really unfortunate that the replay ability of D3 is going out the window, and the drive to reroll the same class is non-existant. Where D2 felt like it had multiple classes(7 classes x Different builds), D3 feels like it only has 5 similar classes because everyone can do any build they want by waiting 15 seconds...
I am going to miss collecting low level uniques with the hopes of using them for twinks once I have all 5 characters maxed.
You seem to be assuming you'll be able to get someone to lolrush your character to Inferno difficulty... Personally, I would be rather bored if they had nothing interesting to find while leveling up.. Just to be able to find something that could be useful , even for a short time, or to be able to throw it on the auction house or into your stash for when you make a new character seems quite enjoyable to me. Not to mention I doubt you'll be able to progress to Nightmare without farming Normal at least a little.
Seriously, items are such an integral part of the experience, it's almost as though you're arguing, why do I have to play the game to get to level 60? Diablo isn't solely a skill based game (that would be nice, but it isn't) finding loot is a huge part of the equation, it's what makes killing monsters so fun -- aside from our primal desire for blood and gibs.

I'm pretty confident just from playing with possible builds in the skill calculator that this game has as much if not quite a bit more depth as Diablo 2 had. You could take just about any skill in the game and find a use for it, (because each one fills a unique niche) and that gives you a lot of options for how to build and play your character. I think for the enthusiasts a lot of time in Inferno will be spent experimenting with the various skill combinations to not only find what works the best but also which is the most enjoyable for them.
All I have to say on this is nothing is stopping you from re leveling a toon, just like you did in D2. The only difference is you're not forced too. I'd rather have the option not too level if I want to try a different build, so don't force me to have to.
I just have to add that I think adding a respec like this is one of the best thing Blizzard could do for the game. I absolutely hated having to bother with making a new character in Diablo 2 only to find someone to hell rush me so I can do boring baal runs. I find wandering around and exploring every little area of the game much more enjoyable than doing the same thing over and over and over.
Having to make a new character simply to try a new build/skill was pretty lame.

I'd also like to add on quick; You can sell your characters on the RMAH or even the AH. So if you want a reason to re level, just sell your toon, and use those cool low level legendaries (not called uniques in D3, since, well there's going to be more than 1 of them). Personally that's a great reason to re level imo.
Sell, salvage, give them to a friend. I can see what the original poster means - it's such a huge number of items that you maybe see a few of leveling up, then never use them again. Just how the game goes. Other than class-specific items, you could still re-use unique armor/helms/etc. when creating a character of another class.
This seems like we're really reaching for things to complain about, though, since low-level uniques didn't really play a tremendous role in D2, either. At least in D3 you also have the option of salvaging them so that as you level you can use them as crafting materials for the next best thing.
seems with the direction the game has taken to make 5 lvl 60's and farm inferno that low level uniques and set items was a waste of developement since no one will want to reroll after they get 5 lvl 60's. I remember using my sigons set at low level then switch it out for other gear. Now whats the point? There is none. If your goign to make a game based around everyone staying at lvl 60(not to mention you can just buy lvl 60's on the AH) 95% of the items in this game are useless unless they are inferno quality.
And what is an item of low level. Mostly you will see the same design as I've seen in normal through nm and hell with different dyes, some little changes if any. So random always higher properties and different colors.
Basically not much just a bunch of same armor with different random properties, dyes and maybe some design features. We will also have some legendaries. If we just calculate number of real designer armors/items I bet we will see as many in inferno as in normal-hell. So I don't believe 95% is a correct number but maybe 50% is and only if armor design is not reused in inferno and if it is you will see only 5% of items being useless in inferno where these 5% could be legendaries.
I prefer the current system. Yes, it may mean that some of the uniques you find will be "worthless" to you. Use them for crafting! That's the glory of the crafting system... Furthermore, I think the oppotunity to have one character in each class that can "morph" into any build is awesome! No longer do we have to make 3 different builds of each class. I love it!

I've been thinking about making a free game on U.S. East anyway...

It's much more fun. You can save all your low level unique items and reuse them when your character dies.
Really the only way to play imo...
Edit:
Also... with rushing in D2... low level unique items were pretty useless in that game as well.
