I have seen lots of negative threads about the new UI, rune skill system, changing skills on the fly, etc. What I haven't seen a lot of is people saying what they are looking forward to in Diablo III. So here it goes......
1. I am looking forward to creating/joining a game and having the map actually be random. Random mini dungeons, map layout, mobs. This to me will make running areas over again fun and exciting.
2. Two of the same character type running together with different skills/builds - I can truly see 2 Witch Doctors running together in the game using different skills/runes to progress through content. Seing how someone else enjoys to play their character and learning how the 2 different builds play off one another sounds like a lot of fun.
3. Inferno mode - I can't wait to see what Blizzard has in store for us when we have finally finished Hell mode. I expect to die very often, but this is where people will truly be learning their class (I hope). Playing with skill/rune setups that have proven to work in the past, but having to adjust some things to get past certain groups of mobs or bosses seems very enjoyable to me.
4. Hardcore Mode - I have never made a HC character in Diablo II. I have spent a lot of time thinking about if I wanted to try this in Diablo III, and I really would like to try it. I am sure I will die a million times along the way, but to finish Hell difficulty as a HC character seems like a huge accomplishment. One that I really want to try.
5. Meeting new people to play with - This is probably the most exciting part for me. Finding people that enjoy the game as much as you do, that have the same philosophy on how to level/advance through the story will give me the most satisfacion. I have friends form Diablo,DII, WoW, WCIII, SC that I still am in contact with and expect to spend many hours together enjoying the new content. I also look forward to making many new friends that will last for many years to come.
I know that there are a few more things that I am missing, but it's a start. Anyone else care to add to the list?
I'm looking forward to the art work that blizz has put into the game. The skill and the rune effects look really bad ass. The player animations and the mob animations look pretty smooth too.
I'm also looking forward to some bloody hacking and slashing...! The fast pace of the game keeps the heart racing.
I am looking forward to unloading all my vacation days at work that I've been saving since forever.
This game has taken so long to make that I've since quit(got fired from) the first job when I started saving them up, been unemployed for 2 years, and then started saving up for a year at my current job.
I am looking forward to learning a new game all over again. I have been playing Diablo since the start, and Diablo 2 on and off for the last 10 years and pretty much know everything about the game (Even the names of items when un-identified) And I have once obsessed over it.
I have played many games inbetween playing Diablo, but only have been particulary attached to only a few, and Diablo 3 looks to rejuvinate my love, and my interest in the series.
There are many things I am looking forward to, but just having it in my reach, and being able to play again is what I am happy about most.

I'm looking forward to playing with my friends. I'm thrilled with the Blizzard Annual pass because my wife loves WoW and now she gets free copy of Diablo 3, so hopefully she'll get into it and it will be a good co-op game for us. I used to enjoy playing gauntlet a lot with my friends, so it will be nice to bring back the whole 'Lots go kill a ton minions for loot and levels!'
Builds builds builds. I'm looking forward to spending a good chunk of time coming up with and testing all kinds of crazy builds. And Inferno. That's going to be awesome.
I am looking forward to making my barbarian the meanest looking beast online. Big shoulders, horned helm and a weapon that will slice through anything. I am also excited to sit down for hours and create the perfect build
Well, right now I am looking for one thing, which is not really main aspect during last few days on forums. Everyone is trying to find the best build for HC or Inferno.... And most of you guys forgeting about one thing that I hope will be AWESOME in Diablo 3 ..... I am talking about cinematics, lore and story of Sanctuary !!!
For me, it´s not only about farming items (but I am really exited about Inferno) and making builds. I am looking forward to release day, taking vacation and see what happend within world of Sanctuary after Diablo 2....
So, I am looking forward for great story and story telling and hours of fun alone or with my friends .....
You know, I have to give kudos to the people that frequent this board and the people running it. I posted this same thing on the official boards and got little to no response. It seems the only thing anyone wants to talk about on those forums is negativity and hatred for Diablo III/Blizzard. I think I may have found new forums to participate in.
I'm looking forward to checking out the new classes and seeing what they can do. I'm especially looking forward to seeing how Diablo's gameplay has improved in the 11+ years since Diablo 2 was released. The action seems far more fluid--like a console action game. That should bring something exciting to the series.
Honestly, there are tons of things about D3 to look forward to. I hope and trust it will have been worth the wait.
Diablo I was the first computer game I had ever played, and the amount of trepidation it instilled in me at that young age was surprising. Regular bathroom breaks were needed to counteract the nervousness that built with each trip down a flight of stairs. With Diablo II, the expanded character selection, various zones and deeper lore widened my imagination with the world of Sanctuary. Now with Diablo III on the horizon, I have been surprised with the amount of detail put into the enviorments and the depth Blizzard games can achieve. What I look forward to the most, however, is the fact that I believe I will finally feel the same bladder-quivering excitement I experienced 15 years ago from a game series that has always been one of my favs...
