So here is an idea for diablo 3 that can be maybe implimented in a patch (because god know we dont want to delay the game!)
Having the ability to create an "off-hand" build that you could swap with a cooldown for different gameplay options without having to switch each skill and rune.
For example: having one build that fits a character profile to take out big groups with different spells (like AoE attacks, etc.), and then having another build that is created to take out rare mosnters/ bosses.
Build number one would focus on attacks to take out big groups with spells like AoE like i said before, and the second build that is already set up, can be swapped (with a cooldown) to better fit attacks to take down a rare monster or boss, with attacks that cause more damage to a single target. This way, you would not have to switch entire builds manually every time you want a build for big groups or a rare monster/boss. This would defenetly save the time of going to a safe zone or back to town to change an entire build that you would have to memorize, switch, then hop on your portal and continue playing.
It certainly makes sense and would make the player's life easier. With that said, based on recent blue posts that suggested the developers want players to have to take occasional breaks, I doubt we'll see anything like this implemented. You mentioned a cooldown period which would have a similar effect of users going to town to swap items/skills but It sounds like the powers that be would prefer players manually make changes than have them done in an instant on the fly.
I think it would be neat to have this feature. The cooldown would be needed, as you mentioned. I plan on playing a Witch Doctor and I know that builds focused on single targets such as bosses and groups would be very different. Then again, I don't suppose most of us really know what bosses are going to be like, so perhaps they could be similar if the Skeleton King is any indication.

Right, the player will still have a "break" though as they would have a certain cooldown. The whole purpose of this is to not constantly switch EVERY skill and rune!

What do you guys think?
