Just because I didn't see anyone make a new thread, figured there should be a fresh one just so everyone knows. Pretty much Bashiok confirmed for whatever reason he was misinformed, and there WILL be chat channels in D3 =)
Woohoo!!! I was definitely lamenting public chat not being available and then BAMMM!!! blue post confirming they are in!!! This makes me all kinds of happy
In their defense, I guess it was always implemented, and Bash was just told wrong =D
from what I gathered, they removed it at some point and told everyone they were gonna try something new, and then the outrage happened and blizz was like...hrm maybe we should put that back, let Bash take the hit and then make it sound like it was gonna be there all along...which is why Bash said it would be included in the next patch

Administratorif it can farm and sell on the RMAH (oh, I went there =P)
