On a slightly related note has anyone else noticed this patch appears to have lower rates of proccing Ancients using the cube to either upgrade to legendary or reroll legendary?
For the former im seeing about 1 in 15 at best and the latter seems broken at best - I used 350 bounty mats to get a single ancient Yangs, (70 rerolls) and a further 250 (50 rerolls) got me just 1 more item as Ancient.
No, actually, quite the opposite. A couple of days ago I rerolled a Dead Man's Legacy in the cube and it gave me an ancient item 6 times in a row. They all sucked, but yeah.

I thank you guys for taking time to discuss this topic. I see fair points on both sides. But still, when someone takes so much time to grind that one perfect item and feel the joy of having it it's awesome...and then the update comes in and u get shit on, all that time was a waste bcs now u have to do it all over again and pray to RNGsus to take pitty on u and drop u that Primal weapon xD. And if u wanna start all over again you have seasons, but i love my main non-seasonal character and i dont wanna start all over again with him :D. For me personally these things push me away from D3 and that makes me sad bcs i play this game since launch of Vanila. Sry guys if my English is bad, it is not my native language.
Hi guys, I do not have time and passion too push season play,, usually have no aguments and maxing gems is a killer so If I play I stick to my non season characters. I hate that items are not updated accordingly as I invested time to gather them and now they are worthless again. I do understand it is a grind game but f things are being changed so often how am I supposed to gather or build multiple builds If I do not spend whole my life in this game.
all in all I do not like that items are not updated with every patch and I completely understand the op. I understand that some may like that as they have new goals but causal players are no winners here.
Always gona be people that are sad when items change and they dont have the time to gather the loot back again. This is not a first world problem
and this will always be in the game, why would blizzard make an acception for just primal items?.
I also have a job, hobbys, training, all stuff normal people have to do..and if blizzard makes changes i just accept it. And i am a Season player.
Well you can ask why theyd make an exception for primals and it is a fair question, but you could always ask why would they even introduce Primals in the current way too (minimal drop rate for a minimal upgrade).
Theres plenty of different points of view on Primals and thats what gives us these great discussions, it seems to me theyre a reward for the grind and being able to keep a primal for an obscene amount of mats would be a similar reward for another grind on top, so while it might not fulfil logic to you it does to me
Basically, they were discussing this internally but decided to maintain their current approach (retroactively buff sets, but not legendaries). It's safe to say that it's mainly because of technical reasons, and whether that's normal legendaries, ancients, or primals, makes no difference - "the technology just isn't there yet".
For me personally, as someone who has never been a "season pushing player" but likes the continuity of non-season, it gives me new goals to farm. I've already gambled/cubed the new DH weapons yesterday (speedfarming GR90s with Multishot is just SO MUCH FUN) and now I've got some things to do on other classes as well. To be honest, I always complain about the loot hunt being so quickly over, at least compared to D2, so it isn't all that bad in my opinion. Also let's be clear - the list of items you have to replace isn't that long, it's about 5 per class and usually 1-2 per build or so. Some builds even didn't get any changes (like MH wizards) and some got changed a bit more (like the new SWK mechanics or the 3 items we need to re-acquire or UE MS DH). It's not like you're salvaging your entire stash.
Yea loothunt in d2 takes so dam long, i allways end up useing hero editor even if i tell myself to not use it this time...
To make a simple answer to all this, i have been a fan of hack&slash loot games for so long, i have tested many different grinding games thrue out the years and there is not a single game thats easier to farm loot in then Diablo 3 " as it is now " .. you get a free starter set, you have shards that help you gear out, you have crafting mats to help you gear out, you have high torments + greater rifts thats help you gear out..you have other people in your party that easy can give you all gear you need if its not an upgrade for them ofc.. if you are lucky you can have full primal gear after 1 week, if not lucky you can have atleast 1 or 2 primals and rest ancient after 1 week.. even after 3 days. And those are 3 days of my type of days.. wich means work + training making food.. wich means i got 3-4 hours gameplay each day max.
if not lucky you can have at least 1 or 2 primals and rest ancient after 1 week
Well i have no idea what class youre playing but i can tell you youre version of unlucky is what i would call very lucky, playing every night for the first week would only give me a few ancients, on an average season after the first week id still be waiting for either Taskers, Mask of Jeram or that bloody Short Mans Finger to drop or worse still more than 1 of them and just having any one of those 3 missing would make it hellishly difficult to even get to 70 to even allow primals the chance to drop.
D3 is a great game in its own right but the experience of playing alone to within a clan is vastly different, also the choice of character and obviously the time invested, so I find it difficult to have sympathy for anyone that complains the game isnt grindy enough or over too soon when they have no experience of the true grind because theyve bypassed it by playing in groups.
Your DH will be just as powerful as it was in 2.6.0. Monster hp didn't change. If you want to climb higher in the new patch you need a new weapon. I'm not sure what's so hard to understand. Could you please elaborate your whine?
