nah, at this point, I doubt he has much he could do to speed anything up... Other than rune and skill system, which im sure the team is already working on. And (at least that we know of) there is nothing else... I dont see that delaying at all imo
Producers dont design those systems, they manage the staff and basically keep track of every discipline (coding, art, design, localization, and sometimes QA) and make sure they're all working together and info that needs communicated across disciplines is being communicated. But rarely are they directly involved in the knitty gritty of systems.
Chances are the act of him leaving will slow nothing down, i'm sure Blizzard isn't short on good candidates for that position (if they hire internally which i dont think they are). Though him leaving is certainly curious. I restrain myself from reading too far into the "bigger and better things" quote as that could mean ANYTHING. I'd like to think however, that he was let go cause he was taking too damn long to push everyone to release the game and now they're full steam ahead.
Lead Producer leaves before his game is even released to store shelves. Leaves before seeing the title he has produced for 5 years released.

I dont know if it has been said before or not. some people say that he left because the game was done and they didnt need him anymore, and release date is close and blah blah. If this is the reason that he left, then why they are looking for someone to replace him?
IMHO, no senior producer in their right mind would leave this close to release, when they would likely be receiving a share of the royalties, and definitely receive a lot of the praise, unless either he, his bosses, or (most likely) both, were unhappy for some reason.
Everyone knows what "moving on to bigger and better things" means.. People always try to keep things amicable on the surface, but you don't even need to read between the lines to see that either this guy, or Blizzard, was not satisfied with his job.

Seems pretty cut and dry to me. He was forced to quit or fired. Ive seen it a hundred times over my working career. When things arent going right, someone has to pay. And as much as Blizzard like to say, "when its done" they expect it to still be done in a normal amount of time.
He was probably just a scapegoat for a majority of people.
So in essence, he was probably asked to resign or be fired. Almost everyone chooses resign, so they can get severance packages, good references, unemployment.

Not hard when you have no dead lines! ie. no release date to meet!
Its a conspiracy!
Seriously though for whatever reason this bloke left, it seems slightly odd timing.

So he was a librarian... 'senior producer' ?
