I am just dying to know if it will be possible to play with my friends across platforms. Meaning, if I buy the Xbox 360 D3 and my friend buys the PC D3, will we be able to play together online? If the answer to this question has not been decided on as of yet, I would like to throw in a suggestion that they provide cross-platform compatibility. Many would rejoice.
Cross platform play is do-able, but microsoft are extremely restricted when it comes to that sort of things. Cross platform gaming might be possible with the ps3 since sony is much more open to developper's way of offereing online gaming, like Steam/Valve is doing with ps3. While I can't speak for microsoft, you can forget about cross gaming with PC and 360.
The consolers would be at a disadvantage... This has always been the reason for any game that they couldn't do cross platforming..
Valve will try with the new counter-strike: Global Offensive but I think it'll be scrapped when the consolers whine about how powerful the mouse and keyboard is ..
you can use a mouse and keyboard on the ps3... Unreal Tournament is already ps3 and PC same servers, same with Portal 2 (though I dont know if portal 2 had the mouse/keyboard support)

X-box 360 wont support anything but xbox made stuff..
Tho keyboard and mouse is supported for ps3 it's not as good as on the PC.. I was mostly refering to high pace FPS shooters like CS, CoD, and what ever there is, but I would still say the consolers have a disadvantage if it goes cross-platform (especially in PvP)..
You also gotta look at, who would buy D3 for a console? .. A dude who plays on the console as his "main" gaming rig, anyone playing a tiny bit of PC would proberbly buy it for PC ...
And one thing I know about console dudes is they will NEVER drop their controller ..
umm, the keyboard mouse works the exact same as on the ps3 as it does on a pc o.0; You should try it first..
Second, A lot of people cant afford pc's that can play d3. Granted they are trying to keep the graphics low, but you can still find lots of threads of people who cant play it, they would glady play it on a console... The numbers are big enough, else they wouldnt be putting the money into it.
as for the 360, they have almost gave way a few times in the past, not to say they will this time, but you know blizzard would try, as its the whole point of "battle.net 2.0"
On top of all this, like I said in first post, we dont even know if it will be D3, one of the first few interviews they said a "diablo game"
I have tried the mouse and keyboard for PS3.. I've tried to play Army of Two, The Darkness, Resi 5 and 3 different CoD games with it, and the feel and response is VERY different from when u got it on the PC.. Wether it's commercial bought brands made for PS3 or my own USB mouse and keyboard from the PC doesnt matter, the registration, feel, update etc. and thats a disadvantage..
My PC doesn't even cost 1000$ in fact if I had to buy it now it would be just about 500$, and can easily play D3.. It plays BF3 and Skyrim on highest settings with no problems at all.. and A PS3 you can get for what? 350$ ... Not that big a difference in my eyes..
Besides, cross-platforming or not, I hope the diablo game for console will be a new game, specially made for it as well..
(hate ports ;), ports should die)
500$ Pc's can probably play d3 at low-med and you wanna know what I really don't have 500 bucks to spend right now, but I do have a 360 already and a PS3, So what do you say to a customer like me?
And You definitely can not play BF3 max with a sub 1 grand PC.... If a GTX580 is strained to run it max then a computer that costs as much as a single GPU will definitely not be able to play it.... So enlighten me to your components, Please.

I got GTS 250 and it's running fine on high.. 4 GB ram, 3 Ghz ... Skyrim flawlessly as well ...
highmax and I can assure you no GTS250 is running BF3 max unless you're playing 720p, and you're having shitty framerates(sub 30FPS- 40)

You know the eye only updates with 35 frames right? .. anything above that is a waste .. ... And I think I run about a steady 60 - 70 frames .. 1680 - 1050 which my monitor is made for .. and high =/= highest I know .. I wrote I played SKYRIM on highest ..
And there in lies the catch. I wish I could max games like BF3 but even with a 6950 on 1080p it is impossible. and not true, a very good eye usually can catch a difference in 30-60 but above 60 is the point where absolutely no one but like a super ninja sniper will notice. I can tell the difference between 30Fps and 60 it is so much smoother, no jumps at all, 30 theres a tiny tiny bit of staggering and below 30 well y'know you get shitloads of staggering. But back on point a 500 dollar computer will not be able to run 1080p on high for even diablo i don't think. I mean my 6950 can obviously but that's a 300 dollar GPU and a 6770 which is around 100 will cut it but maybe it won't look as good. Resolution has a big factor which is why I'm saying a 500 dollar computer isn't going to run it at 1080p. Most people use 1080p not 1600x1050.

im sorry guys but seriously? are some of you guys completely oblivious to the fact that xbox, ps3, WII are... COMPUTERS? /facepalm
open one up and you'll see "oh snap theres the harddrive and the processor and all the same exact components of ANY computer. its just designed smaller and has a fancy user interface as its OS just like windows or mac... lol
you can buy an xbox/ps3 type of controller for your PC/mac that will work EXACTLY the same as a mouse/keyboard would on a console. playing them across platforms is 100% possible, but with the lower capabilities of the consoles its just harder.

this computer i JUST bought for 1k in that thread of mine can run skrym and BF3 on max without breaking a sweat. you dont need a gtx580 to run it on max... rofl

Of course comps and xbox/ps3 are the same Wii barely cuts the mark as a PC nowadays so i don't count it plus the Wii U is around the corner. The only problem is when you play with a controller there's a disadvantage, Microsoft had tests run with players cross platforming gaming and always you would see people with mouse and keyboard come up top. The mouse and keyboard just offer a more robust option that can outmatch the controller. maybe if you put pro gamers head to head you'd even it out but most console players are not pro gamers.
and my bad been looking at 2560x1600 benchmarks this whole time thinking they were the 1920x1080's. Even then a GTX 580 runs decently I'm surprised at that but whatever. I still think a 500$ computer is pushing it. I would buy a 1k computer to future proof anyway.

it seems like SOME ppl didnt know they were computers. lol but ya i know the keyboard mouse combo handles better , but you could still use a keyboard mouse for ps3 and it would be the same.
of course thats what i did, i way overkilled the RAM and processor so i wouldnt have to upgrade them for a long ass time and my video card is definitely good for awhile, ill wait until like the 'GTX 600' is out and cheap till i buy a new one :P.

It depend on the game genre. For FPS the second is obviously much better but for many other games the first is better. Controller has disvanateg on aiming and camera control aspects and advantage on movementation (because a sticker is much better then ASDW keys). A exemple is soccer, fightning and j-slashers, those genres are better played on controller.
D3 was made for keyboard + mouse. It requires some aiming and spot clicking and those things are terrible in the controller. I think D3 is totally doable in consoles but the game have to be remade. Skills that requires aiming need serious damage buffs and aoe effects needs some simplified system. In other hand the player should'nt be able to tank enemy missiles hits because those are a piece of cake to evade while using a stickier instead of the mouse movement (using the same hand to attack and makes evading harder).
Because of this kind of adaptation i don't think cross platform is possible. But I would freaking love D3 in my PS3. Actually it would be the best news for me since the game's annoucement in 2008. I'm dying to play D3 on the same screen with my GF and brothers.
And I think D3 should be luanched on consoles because consoles lacks good coop RPG games. PS3 and XBOX360 need D3. And Blizz would certainly appreciate the potential 30 million new buyers.
$500 PC > PS3/Xbox, max 1200p isn't really feasible across the board with that, but 720p it can blow them away (which is all they really have anyway).
My 3yr old (~$500) rig runs D3 beta menu just fine
But yea, I know it won't have any problems with the game... Tbh, now you'd probably get a $300 computer to run it on high with no problems. Must be folks out there with just a console. It still boggles my mind that 5 out of 6 copies of Skyrim were sold for X360/PS3... WTF guys, PC! So, yea, Blizz is wanting to get a piece of that pie.
Oh, Totally off tangent... No, they probably won't bother doing cross platform, too much of a hassle with a small minority bothering with it IMO. I know my PS3 list is populated by PC players, with a few PS3 ppl, and the PC ppl always go for the pc game first anyway.

On top of this, they even said it may not be a direct d3 (though..some posts said it would be) so we don't even have 100% confirmation on that part.
Its safe to say...we have no way of knowing at this time.
If it does turn out to be a 1 to 1 with D3, then yeah, I would think they would add it to battl.net 2.0
