I'm calling BULLSHIT on this video. This is an old video and I will make a current one to prove that this hit lag is not an issue with the attack animation shown. The mob shown does have an animation that does include a 10% chance to hit lag (the one where spikes come out of his body) but the attack shown in the video above is no longer an issue.
lets compare the hit registering of an online game in beta phase, vs two single player games having 0 latency. solid video...rofl
from what i can tell from playing... the d3 "hit lag" is much improved over d2. there is almost no way to completely eliminate "hit lag" unless they make the client do nearly all the work (makes haxing easier... not gonna happen), instead of asking the server for everything. the other way is if they used udp instead of tcp, which will also never happen.
once the game is out, people will be able to reduce their latency by changing their tcpackfrequency to 1 (default 2) just like people have been doing with WoW for years.
@RGDiablo3
thanks alot!! i was really worried about that
No, Thank You for viewing and liking my videos. I am always happy to make a video for a deserving person or on an interesting / controversial topic. Thanks for watching and thanks for bringing this video to my attention.
I of course noticed this right away when I first started playing in the beta (in the first public wave)
It bothered me ALOT! So I went on to the feedback page. I could swear this was listed as a known issue fixed for release and to not worry.. I haven't found that post yet though But I disctingtly remember being worried / upset about how bad it was.. You litterally cant doge attacks from monsters.
I also remember not being worried about it any more.. I'll keep looking
Now, the other issue thats being discussd lately, the targetting box, also is annoying and I havnt seen anything on it.
After the response video, it seems like it's based on server connectivity. Not a game breaker imo, but it does seem like a bigger issue than it was in Diablo 2 (in terms of the distance). I expect it will be resolved (almost) completely once the game goes live, assuming your connection is peak.

Playing a Wizard. Looking for Demon Hunters to play with.
That was one of the ones I was remembering, I guess I saw his response and figured "it was being looked into"
I think the other ones I was remembering was the stuff about straight up animation lag due to first time loading.
This certainly isn't a game breaker, and a large reason I have stopped thinking about it is because I have settled in to playing a wizard almost exlcusivly in the beta so I never get hit by anything.
But it is still there, and still VERY noticeable on pretty much every mele attack. Basically, if the animation starts, you get hit (or block) every time.

Maybe it will get fixed.
But him starting the attack late and hitting me from 30 feet away?
Thats just too much. Mind you, I did not notice this when I played.
agree, never noticed this, just got on to try..didnt notice it
something like this, if it does happen to people, I would think is beta related, as they wouldnt have something like this for hardcore in
