Okay, I received my beta key yesterday. Played through with a Wizard, Monk, and Witch Doctor.
Some thoughts:
Mostly plays well on my tiny laptop: Intel HD graphics 3000, i7, 4gb ram. Probably graphics card is the bottleneck - but on low graphics settings it is smooth. Unless you have a lot of people on the screen, in which case I have enormous lag. I think it is server-side.
Besides that, the beta feels very unfinished and unpolished. Little things like clicking on a book (in Cain's house) and it dissapears and does nothing, clicking on ashes urns when standing next to them without any effect. AH and achievements not working, game not remembering my username. And a lot of tiny rough details which interrupt the flow of the game.
I would be extremely dissapointed if they release the game anytime soon, because it is not playable the way it is now.
Also, the templar is a dumbass. Stupid. I hate him. But the Wizard girl has the best personality
The lag you have is not server side, that would be your rig.
1. Clicking on book and it dissapears.
That means you've already gotten it.
2. Clicking on ashes / urns with no affect.
You need to attack them.
3. Achievements not working.
They've worked almost 100% the day they were put in, sometimes Blizz turns them off.
4. Game not remembering user name.
This was fixed for launch months ago.
Edit: The dumbass stupid templar comment.. How old are you?
Without going into details ill assume you updated your video (GL updating integrated graphics; those are rarely released in timely manner with tweaks specifically for games) drivers/cleaned up your PC, make a report/describe your problem and post it in D3 beta forums with your dx config and system specs so they can look into it.
I did not play the beta and with the beast computer i have, i doubt i will have any issues regarding gameplay unless it is related to connection (Core i7, radeon 5450, TTR3 HD). One thing which decieved me a lot is seeing how this game is being noob-oriented. They took out one of the best feature that was in D2, weapon swapping. Blizzard justified taking out this feature by saying that newbs would be too confused with it. This totally pissed me off even to a point where i am reconsidering buying the game... If this game is newb oriented, i will look for another game and won't even bother buying D3. I don'T wan't 13 years old and under game... Since this game is full of blood, it should not be focused around 13 years old kid, really. Make the game for people 18+.
I wouldnt say noob-oriented, but friendly to casuals.
And swapping weapons is really just little detail. I mean, its such small feature and I rarely used it in D2 anyways.
Little detail??? This either shows you are either noob or narrow minded (i quoted you but could've quoted another newb too btw).
Pro gamers like me own newbs like you because of such small features and this part of the game is actually the "brain-part". Now those blizzard games are down to who will have better micro but is no more about who can build up the best strategy. MF is actually the last thing i worry about when thinking about what weapon swapping would bring to the game... I guess ill need to explain:
Take a barb with weapon mastery for example
1. Close on your target with 1H+shield (damage mitigation)
2. Build up fury with DW, mighty weapons (fury builder)
3. Throw damage with 2H, axe, mace or sword (fury spender)
This is a basic example of how this makes a huge difference in my game play. DH and monk are 2 more caracters which would benefit greatly from being able to swap weapons. In D2 for example, a Hybrid Amazon could put 1 point into frost arrow, freeze target, swap to javelin (damage), and go on like this swapping back and forth. A lot of builds would not be playable in D2 without weapon swapping. The same applies to D3. Take the Dh for example. Who the fuck would still use crossbow when the target is toe to toe? Not being able to swap for a big 2H or 1H+shield for this caracter is really decieving. Most players think that this is a small feature but it could actually bring a lot more variety to the game and allow more hybrid builds. Imo, the only reason why Blizzard did not want to implement it is because they are lazy bastards who do not want to spend much time balancing the game and they are building it newb-oriented.
Maybe you'll have to learn new mechanics and develop new strategies rather than being a "lazy bastard" who doesn't want to adapt.
Do you even hear yourself? I'm going to stomp my feet and hold my breath if Blizzard doesn't do things my way!
Go for it, champ. Let's see how well that works for you.
... After al these years i have never seen such a high end cpu combined with a 3k serie. Its just retarted even for a non gamer.
...
The entire I5 2500k and I7 2600k series have the 3k integrated. Seems wierd that you havent seen that before.
Then i think it is region related. Havent seen in stores or online on Dutch sites.
That's the config in every Ultrabook available as well as some laptops. The fact remains, if you are a normal enduser who uses the laptop for Office, email, internet, etc, the integrated 3k offered in the Ultrabooks is ideal.
It isn't region-specific at all. The companies I listed earlier sell the same machine around the world.

Wow, no way this is serious. Worth a good laugh nonetheless.
they should have had a gameplay time tracker on d2, more time played = better chance of beta key... children like this that have no idea what the intent of a beta is should not be providing feedback to developers... hes probably somewhere between 14-16 years of age...
Setting aside my rofl on how uber tarted the OP is i must ask:
Which retarted company combines a I7 with a 3k srie from amd ...?
I was thinking this as well. I7 with nothing to go with it? So disappointing, waste of power
its not that rare, for the avg user "aka not gamer" does not need a high card, but can use the power of a better processor. its very common.
True. Guess I never really thought about that. I've been looking into building a new computer the past couple days and am just used to seeing i7 related to a beast mode gaming computer.
If i havent seen it, then trust me it is somewhat region related.
Acer, Asus, Apple, Samsung, Lenovo, etc sell their products world-wide. It is not region related at all.
Ofcourse they do, but with that specific specification ? No, little to non here.
Hehe for the last time...yes, with that spec. It's part of the Sandy Bridge chipset. Hopefully you aren't claiming they removed that part of the chipset for your location... It's the ONLY spec that goes into Ultrabooks. It may not be popular wherever you are, but it is there and it is available WORLDWIDE.
Unless you have a lot of people on the screen, in which case I have enormous lag. I think it is server-side.
That's your onboard graphics card. I've got one in my laptop (along with a discrete). It plays, but poorly.
clicking on ashes urns when standing next to them without any effect.
Have yet to experience this. Could be attributed to gpu lag, but hard to say.
I would be extremely dissapointed if they release the game anytime soon, because it is not playable the way it is now.
It's an old build. It's safe to assume they have most of the large bugs squashed internally. But even as an old build, I think it's VERY playable.
He can come at me but i doubt he can say anything brilliant seeing how deep he can think into a game. Thinking "out-of-the-box" is not something given to everyone. And for the fat kid who called me lazy, just so you know i've been playing WOW and i built all my macros by myself, did not download any script at all. Introducing weapon swapping is in no way related to being lazy. You like to bash on your computer, fine do it and let other people do as they wish.
superfula, xactly what im saying, im sure it exists but i have yet to see one over here in the netherlands, and the fact that i test and first hand check out pritty much al kinds of new hardware and laptops on a daily basis here then you most likely would in 10 years i can fairly easy say that once more, im sure it exists but just non to very very little here in the netherlands.
Those little things make it "raw" for you? you got to be kidding.. First off its a beta for a reason, it will be short, there will be glitches, and you will find some vanity problems. That's what you are for (hoping I posted these mishaps on the correct forums) and second like ^said just about 95% of those vanity things will be fixed. No worries keep your hopes up it will be fixed. I promise.

Go look up differences between beta and demo.

It's just not worth it...
