Okay, I received my beta key yesterday. Played through with a Wizard, Monk, and Witch Doctor.
Some thoughts:
Mostly plays well on my tiny laptop: Intel HD graphics 3000, i7, 4gb ram. Probably graphics card is the bottleneck - but on low graphics settings it is smooth. Unless you have a lot of people on the screen, in which case I have enormous lag. I think it is server-side.
Besides that, the beta feels very unfinished and unpolished. Little things like clicking on a book (in Cain's house) and it dissapears and does nothing, clicking on ashes urns when standing next to them without any effect. AH and achievements not working, game not remembering my username. And a lot of tiny rough details which interrupt the flow of the game.
I would be extremely dissapointed if they release the game anytime soon, because it is not playable the way it is now.
Also, the templar is a dumbass. Stupid. I hate him. But the Wizard girl has the best personality
It is Beta for a reason and those VERY MINOR will be easily fixed. They aren't anything huge and plus we might have a earlier build than the developers do so keep that in mind also. I feel the beta is very polished for a beta in fact, I barely run into any hiccups and that is not server side lag when there's a lot of people that is screen lag cause your GPU is studderring I have none of those problems, I run a 6950 at max graphics quality. Achievements have been disabled BTW and AH i dunno but the AH worked fine for me on my last playthrough.

I'm not really sure what to say, it's a beta ... So ....
But more importantly, the nothing happening and stuff vanishing? That's your comp, no issues at all on that.
Achs ... They do work, they are turned off
And the not saving username... That's just due to the client not being signed and being able to save data to the comp the way it needs to, that's not a bug, it's a beta =p
I did not play the beta and with the beast computer i have, i doubt i will have any issues regarding gameplay unless it is related to connection (Core i7, radeon 5450, TTR3 HD). One thing which decieved me a lot is seeing how this game is being noob-oriented. They took out one of the best feature that was in D2, weapon swapping. Blizzard justified taking out this feature by saying that newbs would be too confused with it. This totally pissed me off even to a point where i am reconsidering buying the game... If this game is newb oriented, i will look for another game and won't even bother buying D3. I don'T wan't 13 years old and under game... Since this game is full of blood, it should not be focused around 13 years old kid, really. Make the game for people 18+.

If the weapon swapping was the killer feature that made D2 awesome for you, you're doing it wrong.
Another reason weapon swapping is taken out would be the fact you could have GODLY gear on one set then you're MF gear on the second and when Diablo is 1 hit left you switch to MF gear to get even better loots.

Or they could calculate it based on how much MF you had when the monster hit an arbitrary percentage of health. Meaning you dont know if the MF would be calculated at 95% health or 32% and it differs for each monster kill and is kept from the player. That would mean that there is not real way of telling when you should switch gear sets, and the MF factor would still only have to be calculated once.
Achievements have been tested, they are currently disabled, you would know this if you actually bothered to read the patch notes or check the general / beta forums...
That lag is caused by having a shitty GPU, the one you listed is listed as LOW performance from Blizzard
It's a laptop, they are using the integrated card in the i7 to save space/power. As said, not that uncommon in regular laptops. Not the best for games though. Ivy Bridge will bring a much better integrated GPU though (~double the performance of HD 3000).

I wouldnt say noob-oriented, but friendly to casuals.
And swapping weapons is really just little detail. I mean, its such small feature and I rarely used it in D2 anyways.
Little detail??? This either shows you are either noob or narrow minded (i quoted you but could've quoted another newb too btw).
Pro gamers like me own newbs like you because of such small features and this part of the game is actually the "brain-part". Now those blizzard games are down to who will have better micro but is no more about who can build up the best strategy. MF is actually the last thing i worry about when thinking about what weapon swapping would bring to the game... I guess ill need to explain:
Take a barb with weapon mastery for example
1. Close on your target with 1H+shield (damage mitigation)
2. Build up fury with DW, mighty weapons (fury builder)
3. Throw damage with 2H, axe, mace or sword (fury spender)
This is a basic example of how this makes a huge difference in my game play. DH and monk are 2 more caracters which would benefit greatly from being able to swap weapons. In D2 for example, a Hybrid Amazon could put 1 point into frost arrow, freeze target, swap to javelin (damage), and go on like this swapping back and forth. A lot of builds would not be playable in D2 without weapon swapping. The same applies to D3. Take the Dh for example. Who the fuck would still use crossbow when the target is toe to toe? Not being able to swap for a big 2H or 1H+shield for this caracter is really decieving. Most players think that this is a small feature but it could actually bring a lot more variety to the game and allow more hybrid builds. Imo, the only reason why Blizzard did not want to implement it is because they are lazy bastards who do not want to spend much time balancing the game and they are building it newb-oriented.

Furthermore, the bottleneck on your laptop is absolutely the gpu (Intel HD 3000 graphics is totally a stock graphics chipset).
as for the easy play system if you cant deal with it gtfo and go play wow you baby
Seriously. There are thousands of people less fortunate/lucky than you are.
Beta is Beta for a reason... sigh...

Random is random, once you have all the books you either get nothing or potions / scrolls...
Not remembering account name has been broken since Beta Patch 2, that boss sure is difficult to kill, maybe next patch...
My guess is your not a fan and just a troll, my opinion though
I was thinking this as well. I7 with nothing to go with it? So disappointing, waste of power
its not that rare, for the avg user "aka not gamer" does not need a high card, but can use the power of a better processor. its very common.
Oh you know, just Acer, Asus, Apple, Samsung, Toshiba, Lenovo and every other company that makes an Ultrabook.
The 3k is by Intel.
Majority of PC consumers are NOT gamers. So, actually, most companies. They recognize that powerful graphics cards are a waste for most people.
I would love this feature in D3. Shield + 1H Weapon / Two-Handed Weapon for barbarian ? Or one set for DPs and other for fury generation ?
Omg it almost feels like people wanna click click click click without having to build uo any startegy. u.u sad
