But OT: Tomorrow I can honestly say, if they dont say a date, it is NOT jan 17th (and I really dont think we will get a date)
[I hope im wrong]
once its less then 19 days before january 17th THEN you can 100% posatively say that. lolol
rofl.
I honestly feel like I can say 100% right now its not January 17th, it seems way to good to be true, thus it can't be, its like some cosmic rule or something.

I agree, the game awards on spike are likely the last chance for Jan 17th.
Exactly my thought process.
3 outcomes
Positive: It is Jan 17th
Neutral: Release date is announced for later
Negative: We don't even get a release date. This would kind of be a face slap if so.

I dont think it would be... I never thought we would get a date from this thing...heck the fact we are getting anything diablo is a down right shock to me, so ill take what I can get myself =P

Yeah, I think tonight is one of the biggest days of Diablo fans (not this site; fans of Diablo! ) regarding the release date. I don't know the ratio but lets say 50% people think the release date will be announced (1) and the other 50% not (2).
When the release date is announced:
(1) - I told you so.
(2) - Damn, the first time I don't think the release date will be announced in 3 years, it does!!
When the release date is NOT announced:
(1) - Damn, the first time I think the release date will actually be announced, it doesn't!!
(2) - I told you so.
Anyway, as I said in my reply to Brake Failure (in my kitty post ), the Full Opening Cinematic might just be one of those bits of info/new feature (Bnet Balance, Skill-tooltips, Artisans page ect) Blizz are giving us to keep us busy for a couple of days. But in this case, a couple of weeks perhaps, cause of the amazing CGI and maybe this is the last "big" bit of info/new feature before they actually give us a release date!!
Imagine if they didn't announce the date at the VGA's, but the very next day! People will be so down under if they didn't announce it at the VGA's, but then BOOM; the next day Blizz announce it and peoples' rejoice of happiness will be greater than if it would've been announced at the VGAs.
This is all part of Blizz cunning plan to get more people to pre-order the game and buy shit on their new "Bnet Balance" feature...
There'll be lots of QQ,rage and whine tomorrow, because they'll not announce release date. People who think they'll announce release date are just hallucinating.
@Zaagazug Perhaps I worded that a little too doomy. I didn't mean slap like QQ'ing slap. I just meant it would be disappointing because we're all thinking it and most are expecting it. Come on, we'd all be disappointed, if just a little bit, of no release date announcement tonight. A slap doesn't have to be a heavy one.
@JaundiceBunny Well I wouldn't go THAT far but a slap nonetheless. Ah Urb. Dictionary, what wonders you have.
Imagine the riots and havoc it would cause world wide... If I was Mike Morhaime I'd be sitting in my Geek Lair giving out one of those classic evil laughs.
This made me immediately imagine that the announcement will be somehow related to the SW:TOR release date. I'm thinking Blizzard will make the release date announcement--which will be a date of January XX 2012--either during the Spike Awards (which is tonight!) OR during the week prior to Dec. 20th (which is very soon).
It'll be their marketing tool to help keep the fans' focused on Diablo instead of a time-filler game while they wait for release that could potentially turn a curious fan into a dedicated subscriber and a potential sale loss. This will also lead into their post-D3 release marketing strategy for the new WoW expansion, imo.
That is probably the one thing that keps a January release date alive for me and the thing that all but ensures tonight's release date reveal. Unfortunately my time filler game is already here in the form of Skyrim
The more I think about it, the more a release date isnt likely to happen tonight.
First of all and most important is that they would have advertised the VGA awards D3 cinematic as including the release date. It would have added a lot more interest in the show than just a video cinematic. Since they didnt do this, I would be shocked to see the video including a release date at the end.

very good point. which is why im expecting a release date announcement around the SWTOR release date

Oh stfu already.
IF we get a release date we'll all be happy.
IF not then that doesn't raise your credibility at all, you're still gonna be a random guy with random connections with blizzard that no one believes you actually have,so cut your trolling out.
You don't have to agree with me, you don't have to belive me, but you SHOULD respect other people's thoughts. ^This shows how immature you are nothing more.
There'll be no announcement tonight, because my friend who worked at Blizzard told me.That's it.
First There is no reason for any user to tell another to "STFU" for any reason. Please no more of this in this thread.
However, its not an issue with "respecting your thoughts" as its not your thoughts, its "A friend who works at blizzard" is a fact you're trying to pull off... which nonone here will ever buy, there really is no reason to even state that as your source tbh.
When you come on to a forum, full of fans debating real information out there, a user to come with 6 posts and say "My friend works at blizzard" is not going to fly, and is only asking to be trolled.
And I need to make a countdown clock for this show tonight brb.
nice work molster thank you for that but 30 mins before the main event there will be a preshow online only on the spike website so maybe reset your timer?

http://m-productions.net/vga.html
It automatically will get your timezome, adjust for any time differences, and will display the end time and countdown.
When it reaches zero it will link to sc2streamster page... just ignore that =P.
Figure its helpful for people that dont know timezones well.
Official Blizzard Quote:
We will have the video up on our official YouTube.com/Diablo channel within minutes of the premiere, just in case you can't.
which means we will have it on the front page just as fast.
Very much!
