In the end all primals really do is dilute rng by adding an X% chance of removing a whole layer of RNG potential completely, completely needlessly. When the same exact thing can be done without diluting rng by just making ancients roll better stats more often than not instead of purely RNG.
All primals do is act as a X% gate to suddenly roll all perfect stat values when it can be a gradient and that's how it ought to be. All they're doing is 100-X% of the time ancients stat values are 100% RNG, then X% of the time it's oh, 100% perfect values, 0% RNG on stat value rolls.
As in, the same thing can be done with ancients alone and doesn't need to be 100% perfect.
Like now it's X% for an ancient to be primal is basically X% chance for ancient to be 100% perfect values on all stats. Sounds ridiculous to me.
Why not 30% chance for 80-90% perfect values on 80-90% stats or something? 50% chance for 70-80% perfect values on 70-80% stats? 10% chance for 90-100% perfect values on 90-100% of stats?
So wouldn't it be basically the same but not dilute RNG if you just made ancients roll better on stats in general, like more often than not? Or a chance to roll better values, what primals essentially do to the absolute extreme.
All this does is slap a 100% perfect stat roll on ancient X% of the time.
Primals are just a carrot on a stick for players who don't care about ladders and wanted a long term objective. Usually those kind of players don't care much about character power/stats but more about "completion".
Primals are not needed for competing in ladders, and if you have a badly rolled one it's a shard like any other item.
Really, they are 100% optional. Expecting to have a full Primal well-rolled character is completely bogus (until you dedicate lots of hours on that char).
Primal Ancients are bad because they do "X" when regular Ancients could do "X".
I'm sorry, what? The only difference I see here is someone will be happy they got a red border. Who in the wide world of sports would deny someone a red border?
Yep, cuz the difference is there but not major. It can be any where from a 5% - 10% dps increase. This is under the assumption you don't have a perfectly rolled ancient.
But PA are actually amazing on a zmonk and LoN bomb. Think on nearly all gear you have a perfect globe bonus and perfect 9500 thorns. It's actually a stat boost for specific builds just not game breaking

Exactly. There is nothing more to add. It's completely optional. Even if you got lucky and got full Primal geared with correct rolls, you're only going to be a few % better then someone with full ancients correctly rolled. As already mentioned, just a carrot on a stick. See you in Season 10.
Surely the one that can do the most difference, but even that is just an ancient weapon max-rolled. If you farm enough for getting a good rolled one, likely you'll have one regular well rolled Ancient and the difference will be minimal anyway.
haven't seen a primal quite yet, but with most of my builds already using caldesann's despair, I'm assuming a primal won't "match" the amount of main stat of an ancient with a caldesann's affixed. So, I'm not planning on trying to run gems for primals, would just be a waste of time given the hours I spent to affix caldensann's to all my current gear.
Primals = fail for those who already have caldesann's despair on their gear. Correct me if I'm wrong folks...
I thought there will be a reson to return to a game, but now there's none.
Beyond the upcoming DLC that will make people come back for 1 season D3 has done nothing nor can they do anything to bring people back. It's maintenance mode bro, the game is what 5 years old... Jesus people move on. You either play because you enjoy it or you don't. I'm coming back this season because I'm bored of my other games and a few buddies are playing this season.
It's good to see these forums are still the same with the same type of people >_<

As said above, Primals are completely optional.
A well rolled ancient with Caldesann on top is very likely to be already better of the "common" Primal. If you manage to get a Primal with all the right stats, then it's worth farming another Caldesann for it imho, since you won't find anything better ingame.
i have to disagree there since dinosaur fossil primal relic ancient items havent been added to the game yet.
So if i have to stay in the same line, it's not worth using Caldesann on Ancients since we already have Primals. It' just better to not use Caldesann at all to, since we don't know what can be in game in the future.
Anyway, given the abysmal feedback Blizzard has received on Primals V1, i don't think they're going to add other tiers of items like that in the future.
Hell, i would prefer real tier sets (different sets) with increasing powers that drop in definite GRs ranges. And i know already that this idea would piss off lots of people.
Ooooo a shiny new RED border! Wow!

Then don't farm them. Solved.

These will be of greater value to the people that aren't on as much, and yet likely offset due to the drop rate as they aren't on as much...
