So, if the title or poll didn't give you explanation enough, what form of play will you use on your first run of Diablo 3? Will you take the personal experience, going at your own pace? Will you play with a few friends who have the game so that you can form a team? Or will you keep your game open to anyone willing to jump in? Will you take your time, enjoying, exploring, and experiencing the game, or will you
I suppose it wouldn't be off topic to talk about your class, but I believe there's already a threat about that.
Personally, I'll be playing Single player for a first run, if not several runs on different characters, and then moving into Buddy and online play, keeping the characters from my friendly games only for friend games. I'll also be taking it slow, soaking in the experience I've waited so long for, but I won't be afraid to pick up the pace when I get excited...after all, we don't want to mar our first experiences by rushing through--we will (hopefully) have a year or so before the first expansion releases, and possibly another decade before Diablo 4 hits.
I plan on playing with RL/Gaming buddies and solo when they aren't around.
While I won't be "rushing" through the game, as I want to enjoy every bit of it, I typically play games at a faster pace than most. Or maybe it's just because I play more than others
Either way, I will actually be reading / listening to lore pieces rather than skipping to the next thing. This isn't an MMO where I am competing with thousands of other people on the same server for quests/mobs. I will have my close friends to accompany me in private games, all leveling and questing together and uncovering the secrets of Diablo 3!
Edit: While I plan on playing with friends, I won't skip content to catch up with them. If they get ahead of me, or vice versa, we will probably help each other catch up to continue gaming together and not miss out on the plot/experience.
With games like WoW and such I would always rush each expansion to get to max level again, gear myself out the best I could, etc... but I always found I burned myself out really quick and eventually didn't have a whole lot to do outside of raid nights. I really don't want to do that with Diablo III at all, so I'm planning on taking my time, exploring the zones, paying a lot of attention the lore, and just enjoying myself and having fun. I'll also be leveling on my own so I don't have to put up with anyone.
Myself I'm probably going to play alone/with a few friends and relatively fast with my main character and have an alt char that I'll play with my more casual friends, who won't really play as much as I plan to do.

But what was step one? I need to know!
Secret ingredient. Duh!
Edit: blehh.. fk it.. It's redbull injections in my veins.
Playing Diablo 3 for the first time would be like me playing any game for the first time: Slowly and independently, exploring everything I can.
I can swear to you now - it will take me 4+ hours to just get through the beta for my first run-through. =)
It would probably take me just as long to get through the beta too.
I'm glad to see other people who want to take their time and enjoy the game, I figured I was one of very few since I assume a lot of people just want to rush to end game.

Part of the reason I made this thread was because I saw a person here say that he and everyone else would rush to level 60 and be bored with the game in a day or two.
I will probably play by myself for a while. Mostly cause my friends play on consoles and not PCs. Once my dad gets the game and a B.net account, I will probably start a fresh toon with him. And first time will be a bit slow for the story and then I will just try to go through all content as fast as possible.

I don't always burn. But when I do, I use hellfire.
Single Player only if my friends pussy out, do not sleep to prepare for the midnight launch, and don't wanna play for 12-15 hours straight so we can kick big D's ass
Either solo or with someone else who is as interested in playing it through as me.
And I'll be playing fast, but thorough. So as quickly as I can go through the game completing as much as I can. Might skip a few small dungeons, especially in early acts, but will be doing almost everything.
What's important in Diablo? Loot and bragging rights. Straight to online public games and making the fastest possible run to the end. There will be plenty of time to explore in Inferno, right?
Slooooooooone too here.... at least till all my 5 classes finish Normal.... after that, probably Slone again,
(but not Slooooooone)... or in a rare occasion, with another Slone buddy... it will be a long time till i can hit Nightmare or Hell
Slone needs to be dictionarized, to the Oxford dictionary...know what I'm sayin
I'll explore everything, collect everything, salvage everything, take a look at blacksmith, mystic and jeweler, play with camera, skills, controls, whatever.
Then I'll switch back to my normal gamestyle: explore everything, collect everything, salvage everything, blacksmith etc
But I feel for the first time ever in my Diablo experience I'll definetely spend some time joining other players.
I will likely be the slowest here since I will be playing all 10 characters at once if not more than that (Buying more than one copy). I will be finishing likely each act 10 times with each character before moving on to the next act. I may do more than that per act depending on how I feel. I will likely play alone, but I will see. It will likely depend on how the lag is and if it is better playing alone. I will be going with Gold Find for all characters and I have decided on a few strange builds. A melee Female WD and a female melee wizard that only uses a normal attack and explosive blast.
My plan might be to rush the first character in softcore since I think they have decided to have you play softcore before being able to play HC.

I am sure a bunch of new memories will be made
A QUADRILLION MAGIC FIND is worthless if you can't kill shit!
Step 2: Farm items
Step 3: Sell items
Step 4: ???
Step 5: PROFIT

Amen. I'll probably be slone with all my characters, but a tad bit quicker when playing with friends with friends.
