Free diablo 3

  • #101
It seems the CE will just overwrite the free Diablo III that's on your Bnet account, and you won't be able to have more than one Diablo III game registered to a single Bnet account, from what I understand from the FAQ.

I've read the FAQ and the info I'm after doesn't appear to be there, so I'll ask people's opinions:

I'm going to be renewing my WoW account for a while yet, and being locked into 12months doesn't bother me. Getting free digital D3 is awesome since I wanted a digital available on release day, and was going to get the CE as well.

The problem is that I wanted two copies to be separate so that my girlfriend can occasionally play if she enjoys it (which I doubt will be often) and when she's not playing, I could use the character slots I get for the second copy of the game for storage and helping myself out (like I have in D2 for years).

Unfortunately, if I use the 12month plan to get the free digital copy, won't the CE overwrite that? And as both will be tied to my account, I'm guessing it won't allow me to play logged in with the same account twice?

I think I'm answering my own questions, and if so, it kinda sucks that I can't transfer the free digital copy to my girlfriend's account when I upgrade to CE :(

I would contact Blizzard to see what options you have.

I think you can create a second account using a second email and buy the CE on that account. But like I stated check with them first since I think if you buy the CE while in the contract for the free D3 that you get a few months of WoW for free.

You bind your account with the digital and the collector's edition to your GF.You can say to her: "Hey precious i bought you the expensive one!!!" :P

Also if you have both the 1year's free diablo 3 and the collector's you will have the first 4 months for free and then you will be charged for 1 year.I think wow will be over till then :P

Ok from the World of Warcraft Annual Pass FAQ it says that if you buy Diablo 3 Collector's Edition you get 4 months of Wow subscription. You get also goodies from the collector's box plus wow pet for wow, dyes, banners, aesthetic lookings for diablo 3 and portraits for SC2.

I find this cheaper than to have been locked in wow for 1 year and pay 140-150$ or euros. The collector's edition will be priced 70-80$ i presume. And with the REAL AH of Diablo you can make some money to renew your subscription in wow.

Me i will stick at Diablo cause wow has gone kung fu pokemon panda style.

Kung Fu is awesome, pokemon is awesome and pandas are awesome. Your argument is invalid.

The only way i see fit is if the digital copy is your (as in tied with your account) and CE is your girlfriend. You take all the goodies from her boxed copy minus the pet. Just like it is for me with sc2. When you registry the game, you automatically get the pet. In this case, you won't have to pet; won't have the pet.

Nope, this. She won't appreciate the CE version or the geek-status I feel it would bring to my shiny happy place inside knowing it's tied to my account. It would just be a nice way for me to get a free copy of the D3 digital I was going to get anyway - which I guess would have to be tied to a separate battle.net account to my main anyway.

Will have to look into how D3 accounts will work with different email addresses and battle.net accounts. I know people can tie multiple different WoW accounts to one battle.net account, so maybe D3 could work the same?

Not sure if this will make you feel better (all of you out there that felt betrayed because blizz is using D3 for wow subscription), the new talent tree plan for the new wow xpac came right straight from the talent tree of our very own D3's followers ;)
I love all loot fest kind of game! I will be playing all of them for the next few years. Loot fest games I'm looking forward to: LotR: War in the North, Torchlight 2, Borderlands 2 and of course Diablo 3.

What if I purchase Diablo III separately?

Only one Diablo III license may be attached to a Battle.net account.

My WoW account is ending next week, but I'm not resubbing for this. I would only play WoW 3-4 months before ditching it for D3. It's too bad they did this offer so late. I would have done it last year definitely when Cataclysm was coming out. I guess they are hurting for subscriptions right now.

I was surprised by this announcement, never would have thought of it. Blizzard is simply pulling an in-house, cross-game promotion. There's nothing wrong with this, companies do it all the time.

For WoW players interested in D3, this is a nice deal. Keep playing the game you play, and now you get a game for free with your monthly subscription. It's undeniable that WoW is slipping: losing 600k, then 300k subscribers, and the next expansion is inspired by a badass hero and a kids movie. Blizzard is trying to milk as many subscribers as they can, which is within their prerogative.

However, it comes out to be an unintentional slap in the face to Diablo fans who have lost interest in WoW (such as myself) or never had any interest in the first place. A game we've been anticipating anxiously is now being given away to players that most view as less than satisfactory. Whats more, they make it seem like Diablo 3 is now this backburner accessory to the companies cash cow.

I sincerely doubt that's what Diablo 3 will come to, but for someone who doesn't play WoW, this just doesn't feel right.

kinda feel bad for diablo as they using it to push wow subscription
i feel diablo has been degraded into some kind of advertising. its almost like blizzards given up on the game because of the impossibility of balancing all the skills and the runestone combos.

makes me think of crackdown, you know that game that was used to push the halo 3 beta?
  • #116
Lol they're so desperate for subs that they offer d3 for "free" if you pay for a whole year of their new panda shitfest of an expansion.

Through the whole wow presentation i was expecting a "LOL WE'RE TROLLING. GOT YOU GOOD DIDNT WE LOLOL" moment that never came. It's so retarded it's beyond words. Good thing i quit wow 1 year ago or i might have purchased this shit too if i was still "on crack" like wow fanboys are.

They are trying to get WoW players to play Diablo 3 not the other way around. They want their current subscribers (10million roughly) to continuing to play WoW and to also start playing D3 at launch to get more income (even if less than 10% use it). Lets use some math.

    Annual WoW pass= $180.00
You get Tyreal mount for WoW
You get beta access for WoW expansion
You get free digital copy of d3 same time as everyone else

You don't care about wow? Well digital copy of D3 is going to be (guess) $60.00
You get a digital copy of d3 same time as everyone else.

Stop posting how they are using Diablo 3 to get WoW subscribers. It makes no sense.

I,personally, tried to sign up for the Annual thing and it said that my account is not eligible for this service.

I have been paying WoW for the past 3 years without any problems and yet I have this problem.I wanted to buy Collector's Edition of D3.Does that mean that I have to wait 'till release to be able to get the "rewards" from the annual service? I will continue paying for my WoW account because I play it.

Also, does anyone have this problem? (I'm of course reffering to people from Europe).

Someone who has thought of buying the CE of D3 and is an active WoW player please enlighten me on this situation.

    Thanks in advance.

What if I purchase the Diablo III Collector's Edition?

If you decide to purchase the Diablo III Collector's Edition when it's available, and then choose to add your Collector's Edition license key to the Battle.net account associated with your existing World of Warcraft Annual Pass promotion, you will receive all of the benefits associated with the Collector's Edition, plus receive four months of World of Warcraft game time which is eligible towards your 12-month subscription commitment. After you purchase the Diablo III Collector's Edition you just need to input the product key into the Battle.net account associated with your World of Warcraft 12-month commitment and that account will then receive the next 4 months of World of Warcraft game time for free. For example, if you already had a month of game time on the associated World of Warcraft account when you input your Diablo III Collector's Edition product key, it would then be 5 months until your next subscription payment was due.

4 months free is basicly the different between digital copy and CE. You can't get CE rewards before release. The mount for doing annual pass will be in 4.3.

I just change my sub from monthly to Monthly annual pass np but i live in USA.
