I think you guys are just upset that you lost or did not fully understand the competition because you did not read all of the rules.
Also, humor is subjective so just because your personal opinion is that it isn't funny does not mean it isn't funny. Obviously the mods found it funny and I also think it is one of the the funniest I had seen in the entire competition.
Of course everyone is going to say it's unfair, but that's more than likely influenced by not being the winner.
Opting out of the next beta contest isn't going to win you anything other than a bitter attitude. If anything you should take what you learned from the first competition and try to make a better entry in the second one and have a chance at winning. It's meant to be fun, enjoy yourself and be creative.
Stop with the bitterness people. This contest is first and foremost a means of entertainment. Captions are less entertaining than captions+. Regardless of what was said by the mods (they actually did publicly state that pictures were allowed in addition-to/place-of captions), entertainment value comes first.
I also would like to see the top __ entries for every event
I liked the winning entry - it was simple, original, and well done. A lot of the entries were, in my opinion, cluttered, poorly done, and really forced the joke(s), so it doesn't surprise me why this one stood out.
I have no issues with the selection that was made. Everyone has a different taste in comedy, so im sure if that entry won then it must have made you guys laugh.
I personally almost peed my pants when i saw the one about the wet floor sign, and that would've been my choice, but then i again i didn't see them all.
One thing is clear now.. and that is that my kinda of comedy is not your kind of comedy, which is fine, to each his own. I too will refrain from submitting another entry and take my chances with getting opt-ins. I do thank DiabloFans for the opportunity and wish everyone else luck in the new contests.
The wet floor one was good, but there was like 10000 other wet floor entries...
The mods also don't seem to understand universal humor. You shouldn't really look at something as being funny to you and so it must be funny to everyone as something to win a competition.
Do you like the show "The Office"? Yes/No? Answers on this comedy show are usually completely random because the humor of the show doesn't apply to everyone. The winner chosen was similar to this. Not only is Charlie Brown an American television show/newspaper comic, it was from the 1990's mainly.
Furthermore, having that many people voice their opinion on how a caption contest should have a caption should tell you something instead of having you try to prove us wrong. It is your contest, and so it is your rules, but don't expect people to be happy if you open up an Italian restaurant and only serve cheeseburgers.
Contests like yours have ruined the excitement for Diablo III for me. Not because I didn't win them, who cares right? But because the bulls*** is so rampant now from sub whoring on Youtube and Twitter, to people like TTH actually benefiting financially from it. I'm disgusted in the lot of you.
I'm fine with moderately subjective humor; but that!? Only the english natives even know the hell that figure is. Should have some criteria that at least 50% of the population should be able to at least SEE that it could be funny in some way, objectively speaking. I couldn't see it at all because i'm not familiar with that show or whatever it is. It's like throwing in a carrot in a caption and referencing some odd Bulgarian TV-show.
why? so people from america shouldnt be able to pick something they think is funny? your argument is backwards. The fact that we picked up something that only some people would notice is a GOOD THING. It means we are paying attention to ALL kind of submissions.
My apologies if my post kinda felt like I was QQ'ng, reason why I posted that I won't even try is because I'm enjoying playing Rage in the past few days that it made me forget about the D3 beta
Also, I know myself and I know I'm not creative enough and seeing the contest winner of last week that I won't ever have a chance. I'm still hoping for blizz's invite of course. Like I said goodluck to everyone entering. No hard feelings here
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
I love all loot fest kind of game! I will be playing all of them for the next few years. Loot fest games I'm looking forward to: LotR: War in the North,Torchlight 2,Borderlands 2 and of course Diablo 3.
And in that decision a vast populace has questioned the legitamacy of said contest. Obviously from the number of angry posts the contest has only spurred resentment for the site and its practices.
Is it their porogative, yes. But that doesnt mean it makes sense to cut your community.
20-30 people is not a vast populace compared to everyone that entered and even everyone that has entered the next contest. Sorry if you feel cheated, better luck next time.
This site is giving away free beta keys in a fun even that everybody can join in on. I don't see why you feel the need to criticize that. Obviously people are going to be disappointed when their picture, or the picture they liked the most doesn't win, but you should just be happy for the person who did win and enjoy the funny pictures.
Just finished a few entries for this weeks contest!

Made and replied to by how many people? 20-30? If that? Out of the 3400+ posts from people we looked through.
I'm not going to bother counting but there is under 10 threads about this, two from the same person.
