I wouldn't say thats bad. They are basically saying Blizzard hasn't stated when the game is going to be released yet, so they can't possibly try to forecast the sales from that game without even knowing if it will be out. The fact that they also stated explicitly this does not include the possibility of a blizzard release means that it's still on the table.
It wouldn't be very smart to forecast sales for a product you aren't sure will even be out, it would be much more diligent to say; "these are our forecasts, but note we are not including projections for a blizzard game, because we aren't sure if it'll happen yet. It may, it may not, but we haven't included these data in our calculations."
This is an investor meeting, these guys are talking about tens of millions of dollars, if not more, they aren't interested in the what ifs and possiblys, they want to know about the definites, how much money should they expect with the information they definitely have, include speculations as a side note.
Just herd a few moments ago during the conference that the release schedule will be announced in the coming weeks.. Not much.. But at least there announcing it.

yep. like ive been saying. they will say they are still on track (Q2 is still technically early 2012 if its before the end of june :P) and then announce the release date by end of feb - early march.

semantics. they are still on track for early 2012, which is what we thought. so im still technically right. and JUST like i said they will announce the release date a few weeks after the call. BOOM baby. riiight on da monayyy

not semantics at all, it was not the release they wanted, if it was still on track, we would have got the release date, so no.. your right because you were wrong... wrap your head around that!

cmon man... what did we know? we knew that it was 'early 2012' which is jan 1 - june 29th. and since the second half of that is 99.9% of Q2 then a Q2 release could be suspected from "early 2012" so it still hasnt changed. the only thing that has changed is the possibility of it being in the first half of what they told us. wither they said "we were gonna get it out in the first part half of what we told you, but now its the second half of what we told you" is irrelevant.
the only way i would be wrong is if it was past early 2012. which Q2 isnt. there hasnt been a "delay" of any kind. as bashiok said all we ever were told was early 2012.

june is not early, but there was a delay, he said, it was delayed, when they said early , they had a time in mind, he just said (read front page) it was pushed back to q2.
Yes it still meets early if its april in my mind. but if they didnt push it back from what they wanted, we would have had a date before the call, not after.

At least somebody around here understands. *hugs beta*. I mean FFS all these people suddenly calling a delay, when in fact they could give us a date tomorrow and it would hit inside their Q2, and all that happened was we waited a day. For all we know they picked may 1st as a date, back in the original, only delay of 2011. That's inside early 2012, and is also Q2. And even if there WAS an internal delay, we can't get all mad because they didn't tell us a date, and then change it.
june is not early, but there was a delay, he said, it was delayed, when they said early , they had a time in mind, he just said (read front page) it was pushed back to q2.

you really wanna have the "what months are considered early 2012" debate? i can end it real quick. early refers vaguely to the first half, anything greater then the first half of something could not be considered early. and the day before the end of june is still in the first half of the year, ergo early 2012 still. your personal opinion of what early means doesnt win you the argument. xD
if it helps think of the terms "early middle end" as a venn diagram. and middle falls into the area's of both.
all they did was go from a broad vague release date window to a slightly more specific release date window. that is all.

There WAS a delay, im not saying get mad about it, read what I wrote on the front page, was trying to make it clear it does fit the -early- but you cant sit there and say it was not delayed from what they want when he said
Official Blizzard Quote:
We've only ever said "early 2012". And we just decided we'd need until Q2 this week. Seems like the conference call was as good a place as any to announce that.
q2 was never their goal with ealry, made clear by this. Yes, if it hits by april (which I still have high hopes for) then yes it still fits early, which is why im not even remotly upset. But your saying your right...when your only right due to them delaying it

i see nothing that says delay. they are just now being specific. like i said

To say early is the middle of the year is beyond a joke, if I where to arrive at work in the middle of the day I wouldn't say I'm early.
with work you have a SPECIFIC time to be there. so the time you show up and time you had to be there is relative to which term is falls under. there is no specific date in the year they have to meet. so its just a broad term and covers a large area.

sigh, they said early, when they said that, they have a date in the company, they could not make that date, they needed to move that date to some point in Q2, it was delayed, thats all there is to it. That is what matters when it comes to them announcing something, not the broad time they gave us.
to make it clear, im talking internal things here, dont care about public time frames, as that has nothing to do for when they will announce something.

well we do know what their internal goal for early was now =P thats the point. what "is early" and what they wanted as "early" is whats clear here. thats the point I was making. Which is why we didnt get a date before it would seem. IF they didnt push back "their" date, we would have got a release date this week. (2 months, Q1)
i claim that the fact, that it was decided this week (assuming its true) to put the release in Q2, means that it won't be very far into Q2. why? easy to tell: if the would've forced it (runes and skill systems are implemented now and working, said bashiok via twitter a few days ago and will be patched into beta "soon") they would've been able to release it, say, march 30th. but now they gave themselves a few more weeks to do what has to be done in a calm way and not rush things up. so there is hope that they won't need the full three months of Q2 but maybe only one.
who is with me on this one?
Makes sense, but remember that only the new skill system will be in the beta, not the rune system...But my simple reason for early Q2:
So if Blizz do announce a release date in the coming weeks (like they said, or [touch wood] another delay)(lets say Feb 29th/March 1ste the latest) their 2 month before release date thing will still be on track for "early" Q2 (April) , which in essence is still "early" in the year. But they can also release less than 2 months after release date announcement...like WoW.
So what I'm saying is, that I'm not really angry/frustrated with Blizz even if they release the game in May. I knew from the beginning that Blizz's "early" will be up to June.
You folks have to remember the game was postponed numerous times.
If, in march, or april, or may, or june they decide to polish a slightly little bit more, it'll be Q3.
Tired of people saying this. There was never a specific quarter given.. Since last year its been "late 2011 / early 2012".. I dont see where people keep getting that its been delayed multiple times.. It's never been delayed, infact this is the first time we've ever heard them give us a solid timeline of when to expect it (quarter 2)
